    I thought it slammed shut?
V Dangerous! the draught from a slamming window could well knock Burke over!
And sending all the paperwork flying all over floor & losing the most important bits on the process. No wonder we fail to get some deals over the line 😆

Such a shame that fell through for whatever reason. Think a front four of Leaburn, Campbell, Grant and JRS would have been SO exciting.
    And Alli isn't?

For those closer to the detail, what chance is there of JRS still joining but on revised terms in light of the information/issues that arose when he was about to sign? Or is it completely off?
Did you see the way Alli played yesterday?

Why would we still be interested, with all the baggage of that deal...
Cause what do we do if Alli is injured? Grant and TC nowhere near effective enough off the right side.

Bindon is right footed and likes to play on the right, will we play him on the left or will we shift Jones?
He seems comfortable using his left too from the infamous clips I've seen. Control and passing wise.

I think Rak-Sakyi has a higher ceiling than Alli tbh

Milli looked decent yesterday, but he also looked completely lost when he came on against Derby, and completely useless on his "stronger" left hand side against Spurs, so I think he needs some more games for us to truly see what his overall performance is

And JRS is better than Alli. No brainer if we can get him.

Or does Jones bring in a surprise third signing ... a box to box mid?
You are hinting at George Dobson, aren't you?  ;)
Hope not.. can do without someone flying in giving away needless fouls because been caught out of position. And then slows the ball down when he receives it.
Fouls committed per 90 last season:

    Coventry: 1.7
    Dobson: 1.2
Where was those fouls committed. Cov if remember rightly committed a lot of fouls up the pitch or when players overcommit.

Coventry is a much better player than Dobson. And will have a much better career! Fact!

Milly was brilliant yesterday but reviews from previoUs clubs and history give no guarantee he can hit those levels consistently over a 46 game season.

if he is injured then the next option is an out of position Grant or a struggling Apter. We need a RW and a good one at that

Still got to get a number of players out before we talk of more players in.  Not long now to do it

I’d imagine a fair few things are at the very least close, they know what they are doing, the Bindon swoop proves that.

From NJs comments a week or so ago it sounds like a lot of them have deals/moves in place, we just haven't pulled the trigger yet as we've been waiting to see who's available for us.

I suspect Asiimwe is one where he would have been out on loan by now if Ramsay didn't get injured, so we've kept him around until the last game before the window closes

Just so I know,,,is the JRS deal really off...😉
    As things stand…..yes.
However, there are one or two hinting (not myself), that the problems (whatever they may be), might unravel before the window closes.
So from what I can tell, I wouldn’t be surprised if he signs for us in one capacity or another.
    I’d say it’s 50/50.

I think NJ has said previously we have a number of exits that we can pull the trigger on when it suits us. I reckon we see the movement start tomorrow and it’ll be fairly extensive

It's 50/50 in so much as he either signs or doesn't, but I reckon the odds are much closer to 90 he doesn't/10 he does

To my memory, we didn't spend much of last season high up the pitch.

With two in, it’s gonna be something like 4 out plus maybe Collins is de registered if he is out for the season.

Doc seems nailed on, Apter surely if we can get a RW in, Kanu…… maybe even Knibbs as a surprise one.

Wouldnt surprise me if we keep Asiimwe now

Have to say, with Clarke at £2.5m or whatever it is - I really didn’t miss him playing for us when I saw him atoday. Works hard and has grit but not much else.
Certainly wouldn’t swap him for Danny Mac
100% (as they say, ad nauseam😉)

I really like Danny Mac's combination of the shithousery with good care of the ball and a quietly efficient use of it. He's better than Clarke on those parameters. Clarke gets into more dangerous attacking positions, but as we know, he wastes a lot of them. Danny Mac has only done that once I think,  but it was that really vicious half-volley in the 1st half against Derby, excellent technique and on target. I love him already. All that said, Harry Clarke did well for us last season, I was glad we got him in then.
For me the change in formation requires full backs to be very good backs 1st and foremost so wingers can do their thing. Danny is a better full back.
Also, Mesik is a very attacking left back. In the first half he was bombing forward, so we need the solidity on the other side.

I really don't like the new 25 man squad rules as they are written, as it's ridiculous that academy players like Kanu and Asiimwe count the same as a multi million pound overseas signings, because they are months (days in case of Asiimwe) over the age limit.

Having a 25 man limit AND transfer windows across the EFL is massively restrictive. For all the talk of new signings, we have an awful lot of players to shift by Tuesday, and I imagine many other clubs are in the same situation. It's turning transfer window deadline day into one of those The Apprentice selling tasks, where with 30 minutes to go they sell their products at ridiculously low prices just to get rid of the left over stock...
    This.

The 25 man cap is too low. Have a glut of injuries and you are delving into the U21's.  I think it should be up to the individual clubs as to how many players they register. And if there has to be a cap then 28 or 30 seems a better figure.
The 25 cap suits a club like us with one of the smallest player budgets. Surely you’d only moan about this if you were a club with parachute payments.

Knibbs going wouldn’t be a shock to me, particularly if we are looking for another , he’s not taken his chances and seems to just be floating around the squad.

    25 is just right

If you make it 30 then you'll never have players developing, and you'll have 10 players not even making the bench every week "just in case".

What might make more sense, especially for later developers, is increasing the age limit to 23

Would be interested to know what kind of loan fee would be demanded for a deal like this. May have put a few teams off as surely some one higher up would’ve wanted him.
There is currently nobody higher up in the Champ 😉
And while that is said with a smile it might have helped a little

I was thinking last night that if the ownership might be looking at our current league position ( we all know it won’t last ) and be thinking hey NJ how much do you need to really give it a go this season ? Go get a decent RW, CM and send us the bill ?
