I wouldn’t want him, but Ogbene to Lincoln is a pretty good move for them.3

Sorry, jumped the gun there. Edit added to save me more embarrassment.RC_CAFC said:
No mate, Smyth at QPRPringlesCurtains said:
Who has had a very decent Championship career? Surely you're not talking about Apter..RC_CAFC said:
See this is what I don't really get. He simply hasn't played for us since this time last year, except one terrible performance at Southampton where he was an absolute hiding to nothing like Paul Smyth that poor day we played him at wing back. Didn't make him a bad player as he has since proved with a very decent championship career. He just was played in the wrong position. The Red Robin said:I really liked the look of Apter this time last year but the reality is, he’s been nowhere near that level since for us or Bolton. Nathan Jones will also see plenty of him in training too.1 -
Probably not right to speculate on someone’s health via rumours.40

We’ve heard the heart line before though, correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t bonne have a heart issue??? Turns out the issue was he was heartless but I’m sure that was a thing?

NabySarr said:Burnley look like they are signing Ramazani on a permanent deal from Leeds. That might mean they are no longer an option for Rak-Sakyi?If we need palace to drop their demands then that will happen tomorrow if they don’t have any other takers
Doubt they ever was an option0 -
Agreed.TheHerminator said:
People are guessing. There is no way that kind of information would be leaked in any way shape or form at the moment. Aside from it being a breach of an individuals private medical records, it helps no one at all, certainly whilst the window is still openThe Red Robin said:
where does that come from though? Because a few on here suggested for no reason it could be his heart with no evidence of that.VanbrughHill said:Was mentioned to me on Saturday that (allegedly) Rak-Sakyi’s medical failed due to irregularities with his heart and hence seems to tie in with the fact that no-one has bought him permanently and if that’s the option we explored then the insurance on the length of contract must have been hefty. Apologies if this was mentioned before but I can’t be bothered to trawl through 500 pages of Rak-Sakyi chat. Hope I’ve heard incorrectly but I’d say chance of a permanent move tomorrow must surely be done if it’s true.0 -
Mbick is Championship ready. Cameos and moments. Weird here people are saying 'not yet'. We have a gem. With good support, allow him to develop and on the way, enjoy him. He is worth it. Yes of course he can't start every game

We have 4 No 9s (plus Karlan and Knibbs who can play there), and I'm very happy for Mbick to be one of them.
Because Kelman and Godden are injured, we look a bit light in that position, but it's a short term issue. Once they are back, Mbick's minutes will reduce, which is when he'll need a slight break anyway.
Plus Mbick will learn a lot being around the likes of Miles and Grant. Grant for example is a WAY better footballer than the one who left us in 2019.

I think opinions that he isn’t ready were formed based on his cameos in L1 and those unconvinced are seeing any mistakes as backing that up.LargeAddick said:Am I the only one who thinks Mbick isn’t ready to start games in the Championship? I’ve seen nothing to suggest he is. Hanging around for ten mins here, fifteen minutes there isn’t going to help his development. A season long loan to League One is what he needs.
He can’t be fairly judged on his appearances vs West Ham and Spurs when he barely touched the ball and had little support. Any of our strikers would have given the ball away or made wrong decisions in those scenarios.
He’s also playing at this level for the first time in his career and back from a long term injury without a normal preseason.
The bigger question is can we bring in someone better who either improves on all the strikers we have, or if not is happy to be back up, in which case are they worth the investment when Mbick is likely to improve as the season progresses.
I’d rather keep him until January and assess from there. Sometimes we need to be patient and develop the young players we have, rather than expect everyone to be ready to start 30/40+ games from the off.
Of course he’s also being compared to Mwamba, but I’m not surprised he’s looking the best out of him, Mbick and Fullah. He’s pretty quick and strong, while Mbick is strong but not as quick, and Fullah doesn’t have the strength. Mbick looks slow and awkward in the way Leaburn can, but this season we’ve seen it was the right call to keep Leaburn around.8 -

We should absolutely not be considering Knibbs as a number 9killerandflash said:We have 4 No 9s (plus Karlan and Knibbs who can play there), and I'm very happy for Mbick to be one of them.

All about opinions of course. I'd like to see him on a league 1 loan till January. Playing regularly hopefully to see if he's ready. That only works of course if there's another forward option.BarnehurstBob said:Mbick is Championship ready. Cameos and moments. Weird here people are saying 'not yet'. We have a gem. I would rather keep Mbick as one of our strikers than sign Jebbison on loan. Would need to be a bigger upgrade to be worth signing a striker in my opinion. You are stealing championship minutes and development from Kelman, Leaburn and Mbick so it’s got to be better than that18

Always happy to trust the club on these matters. They have a bloody fine record for developing youngsters. I'm sure they'll make the right call on whether he should stay or go.LargeAddick said:Am I the only one who thinks Mbick isn’t ready to start games in the Championship? I don’t think Mbick is ready to make a big enough impact in the championship, I’d have him out on loan until at least January to play as many minutes as possible, hopefully scoring plenty at the same time. If we ended up having to rely on him I don’t think things will be looking good.2
-
IF Mbick goes out and we bring in another striker then we have to get rid of another senior body, I just can't see that happening11
-
This. If the target is Jebbison then I'd rather have Mbick. I'd rather keep on giving Mbick 20-30 mins a week than sign someone for the sake of depth.NabySarr said:I would rather keep Mbick as one of our strikers than sign Jebbison on loan. I think the MBick debate is super tricky for the club to manage. Loan him and he plays and scores it all looks great. If he doesn’t play as much as we’d like and doesn’t get firing does this damage his current value. It’s so tricky and tbh I’m unsure so I’m glad it’s not my decision😂😂1

Holsgrove on at half time for estoril3

I don't think his value gets damaged much by playing Championship football and not scoring. We've seen already how valuable the match experience is with TC and Leaburn, other clubs will be aware of that too. If it does drop his valuation, we will become beneficiaries of the experience insteadmart77 said:I think the MBick debate is super tricky for the club to manage. Given Kelman and Goddens' injury records over the past year, to say its a 'short term issue' is pretty optimistic I think.killerandflash said:We have 4 No 9s (plus Karlan and Knibbs who can play there), and I'm very happy for Mbick to be one of them.

I don’t see why we would have turned down millions from Brighton if the plan wasn’t to play Mbick in our team this season
Also Mbick would have pushed much harder for the move if Jones hadn’t said to him he will be in our squad this season. If he’s getting loaned out to league 1 then he might as well do it on much bigger wages from Brighton than from us. To keep him here we’d have had to convince him we had a plan for his progress and I doubt “we will send you to league 1 next season” will have convinced him16 -
I think this is a good point. Keep him around and we could really benefit next season like we are hopefully going to this season with TC, Leaburn and Kelmanfenaddick said:

How hard does an 18yr old push when he’s not made that many 1st team starts, not sure it would get him that far when under contract. Different if he’d scored plenty in the 1st team.NabySarr said:I don’t see why we would have turned down millions from Brighton if the plan wasn’t to play Mbick in our team this season

I think anyone with a potentially life changing opportunity on the cards would be pushing for it to happen unless they’d be given some assurancesSword65pf said:

I would guess we had a conversation with Mbick last season when the Brighton offers came in that gave him some assurances that he’d be playing championship football this season so it’s worth him staying with us, rather than signing for Brighton and getting a league 1 loan4 -
I think the point is, if Mbick is just going to be loaned out to the third tier rather than get minutes at Charlton, then he may as well go to Brighton, get paid a lot more and then get loaned out anyway.Sword65pf said:

He might still get that league1 loan, and it would do him good.NabySarr said:

Its being talked about as fact that Brighton made a big bid for Mbick last season. £5m it was rumoured i believe, but it was just that wasn't it? a rumour? Maybe given his injury, doing half hour for us every other game where he can learn the game at this level might suit him better than playing 90 every week lower down?1
