I'd certainly rather have Webster than Skipp!Sword65pf said:
Agree has looked good each time I’ve seen him, if he doesn’t get sent off that is😂, as he got it in him to step up though?Pelling1993 said:
Charlie Webster at Burton is a proper player. Wouldn't mind himSouthLincsAddick said:Still can’t get any brewing link to Junior Nkeng or Wimbledon, must be the midfielder then.0 -
Nkeng is the type of signing I like, young, talented and on the way up. Always gets me excited (but then many don't work out 🤣).
My dream is we get him and the Finnish lad for our academy and still get JRS and a CM on top... I know won't happen.
Apter surely wants out, he won't even get a squad registration place. What a waste of 4 months for him if he stays.
I wonder if Assimwe and Doc have their contracts terminated near the end of today to allow them to sign elsewhere.3 -
Can't play tomorrow as he's banned. Great start to your new club career 🙄.Southbank said:If Skipp joins it seems he plays instead of Chalobah or Coventry, a defensive midfielder.
Back to back relegations, just like Kaminski.
And DM is not a position we need filling now.10 -
Skipp was quality at Norwich a few years ago in their promotion season so much he started for Spurs the season after . Hasn’t done much since though .7
-
We are turning our noses up at Skipp, who played 77 games for Spurs in the Prem when they weren't fighting relegation?
How things have changed!11 -
Can people stop showing off about all the "friends" they've got (FYI... Imaginary ones shouldn't count!!)5
-
Skipp needs someone like NJ to try and revive his career18
-
Thought the L1 winger might be someone like Josh Neufville, left foot and always thought he was pretty handy. Hope that isn't our business done.0
-
Was quite a while ago now but when Skipp played for a functioning championship team, for Norwich in 2020/21, he was a key player for the team that won the league starting 44 games and bossing the midfield
He’s had a couple of bad years at Leicester, but if his attitude is right (I’m sure Jones wouldn’t go near him if it wasn’t), then I think this could be a very good signing for us. Only downside is I’m assuming it’s a loan given the wages he’s on

Going to reserve all judgement on Skipp until we've actually seen him play (if he even signs).
Cast your minds back to when we signed Coady. The initial response generally wasn't that positive on here and ultimately you could argue it was his signing that helped us stay up.20 -

Something a QPR fan found on Nkeng when they thought he was going there

Oliver Skipp would be an absolutely crazy signing. Wasn't that long ago he was being positioned as Tottenham's first choice holding midfielder and being talked about for England. Then he was a £20m signing for Leicester in the Premier League. Two seasons later he's a L1 player we're seriously looking at. I could see Leicester being willing to let him go for very little or nothing given he's apparently on £50k a week but even if we offer him half that it's a lot to invest on a player on a real downward trajectory. Feels a bit like we've realised JRS is off, gone for a low salary alternative in Nkeng and shifted the money we were willing to throw at Jes into the CM position but it's a real gamble to be giving that to Skipp instead.4

Does this mean Chalobah is more long term than we’ve been told, not excited by either of these to be honest, which might be a good thing because the last underwhelming signings have done ok.stjohnshill said:Junior Nkeng - welcome to SE7! ✅

That Ballard looks handy.....Callumcafc said:Nkeng’s first senior goals came in the same match last season, playing off the right hand side

Can't say I've ever heard of him tbh.
As usual if we do sign him i hope he proves to be a good addition.1 -

He certainly does, because Leicester fans were utterly sick of him even before last season started.ValleyGary said:Skipp needs someone like NJ to try and revive his career1 -

Quiet so far.5

I don't know a lot about Skipp but I see a bloke who played 77 games for a decent enough Spurs side then played a tonne of games at Leicester. They paid way too much for him which will always tarnish their fans view of him. They seemed to warm back to him at points last season from what I read.
NJ is the sort of manager who may just be able to get him back to his bets and firing and even if that is not a £20M player, he could be very decent.
Not a slam dunk star but certainly plenty of potential.1 -
Even if Chalobah isn't out long term, it puts a lot of pressure on Mwamba (Young / Inexperienced) and Ouma (Inexperienced) whenever he's unfit - Having one final body through the door, given how many have said Doc is past it, would be plain sensible.Sword65pf said:

So he also plays on the left!? Are there no right wingers in the EFL?Callumcafc said:Something a QPR fan found on Nkeng when they thought he was going there

Or the club is and it impacts the fans and players and makes for a toxic environment. We know all about that.
If NJ wants Skipp that'ss good enough for me. Who knows we could end up having a hell of a player on our hands.2 -
A few good bits of play on the right in there, including cutting in to score on his left footCallumcafc said:Something a QPR fan found on Nkeng when they thought he was going there

Happy with Skipp lots of experience, Leicester as a club have been toxic for few years so cant judge him on that, sad to see some fans are not skipping with joy but some people never happy. The winger from Wimbledon only turned 19 maybe an option from the bench.1

What’s interesting about this is a lot of his play is from the right wing.Callumcafc said:Something a QPR fan found on Nkeng when they thought he was going there

https://www.theleaguepaper.com/latest-news/football-league-division-one/afc-wimbledon/465054/afc-wimbledon-1-0-wigan-athletic-johnnie-jackson-admits-junior-nkengs-future-is-uncertain/
Johnnie Jackson revealed he does not know if Junior Nkeng will still be an AFC Wimbledon player when the summer transfer window closes after the teenager helped his side to victory against Wigan Athletic.
Nkeng, 19, changed the game after coming off the bench in the 67th minute, causing plenty of problems for Latics’ defence before Myles Hippolyte’s winner finally came in the 88th minute.
The forward has been linked with a move away from the Cherry Red Records Stadium this summer.
However, Jackson hopes he stays after helping the Dons record their first League One win of the season.
“I hope so, for that reason that you just said there, he is different to what we have got,” he said.
“It has not happened up until now, Tuesday is going to come around quickly, so there isn’t long to go.
“For me, to be able to look around and see someone like that who can come on and impact a game is something that we have not necessarily got in our squad.
“Hopefully he is with us, but the performances that he has been putting in are obviously going to catch people’s attention.
“With 48 hours to go, I don’t know what is going to happen. So selfishly, I hope he is here.
“We needed to make changes to try and change the flow of the game.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the lads who have come on and done the job that I have asked them to do.
“It’s easy just throwing bodies on, but you need the boys to do what you have asked, and they have all done it.”
