The good news is Blackburn have had a shocker and have still only signed 2 players all summer. Sounds like Cardiff aren’t adding anymore and their squad looks very light on depth, Preston are also struggling with incomings on zero points with a toxic fanbase, plus Bolton and Lincoln.Even without our 3 wins from 3 I’d be quite confident there are at least 3 teams worse than us this season19

The only crumb of hope of a late JRS deal is that Palace often do plenty of deadline day deals and often go right up to the deadline. Very doubtful now of course but you never know.TheNotoriousBWP said:

Asiimwe seems to have been overrated after the Spurs game. He’s always had a bit of pace and strength about him while looking decent on the ball, but a one off cup against where we’re just trying to keep the score down doesn’t tell you much about his level.wolfgang said:

My view is, the owners don't want to keep having to fund transfers and/or want there to be a bigger transfer kitty in 2/3 years time. So we are buying young players with potential so that we can sell on for £5m/£10m/£15m in the future. Azeez at Millwall being the latest example of that.
Will it work....who knows. Is it a gamble.....most definitely. It didn't work with Kahim Dixon and to a lesser extent Tanto & Apter.
I liked the look of him on the YouTube clip posted earlier, but he himself says he is a left winger who likes to cut inside. In the YouTube video he is shown playing on the right and it does look like he is predominantly right footed. Will he be the answer to our right wing woes ? Probabky not as a starter, which is a shame because neither TC nor Grant work playing on the right.
It might work out but it is far from what is needed and what we've been led to believe we've been keeping our powder dry for.8 -

I wonder what the cross-section looks like between the people saying Jones shouldn’t be let near the money and the people now complaining that we’ve haven’t splashed enough on deadline day transfers since the JRS deal fell through. The fact is we were going to be spending a lot on JRS purely because he was the right player and it unexpectedly couldn’t happen. I don’t expect he’ll move before now and January so we’ll likely revisit it. Would people want us to throw a couple of million at a L1 winger we didn’t really want if it meant we couldn’t go back in for JRS at a later date? Maybe he’ll move somewhere before the window closes but in the meantime we haven’t panicked and got just anyone in - there were plenty complaining when Shade and Ogbene were mentioned too - we’ve used the money to get a highly rated prospect and we might still bolster the midfield as well. All while sitting at the top of the table with 3 wins from 3. If you’re too underwhelmed then I think you need to be kinder to yourself14

Ok so this is a genuine old sparky friend of mine, season ticket holder for the Wombles.
He looks like a real talent, he played about 20 minutes last week against Fulham and caused them a lot of problems. Still very young and raw, he’s an exciting player to watch.

Whilst I’m not against us signing a relatively unknown talent for cheap, I’m really not convinced we were ever in for JRS seriously, with money to spend.This window we have spent considerably less than last summer, and whilst that didn’t exactly work out, talk of us keeping our powder dry etc seems to be a bit laughable when you look at what has and is coming through the door by COP tonight.Whilst we’ve made some great decisions in getting players signed up to better contracts, the fact we have spent just over £1million on Alli as our priciest signing shows the pond we really are still fishing in despite noises that come out of various people at the club.21
