Doc has been a great captain and always gave his all in our shirt.
Really sad to see him go, but that is the nature of football.
Wish him the very best wherever he ends up.

Good luck Doc. A brilliant captain, an absolute grafter and seemingly a really good bloke.

Hope he gets a decent move

Agreed, proper captain around the place too.

    All the best Doc

The big shift this year is a lot of our signings have had previous Championship (or higher) experience.

    Okonkwo
    McNamara Bindon
    Skipp Chalobah
    Grant Alli

    compared to the previous summer

    Kaminski
    Bell Burke
    JRC

    .
That also highlights from 12 months ago that just because players have ‘Championship experience’, that doesn’t mean they’ll deliver ‘Championship quality’.

Only Bell did that from the previous 4. Let’s hope we get a better return this year.

What am I supposed to do with my life now this is over?
Ha I read that as wife !!!  :D
Whatever goes on at his house is his business....However if he wanted to create competition for the, soon to be started, 'Why did we sign (Edit name) player as he's ****!' thread l, then there is always the  #Only(Charlton)Fans site for matters away from football! 😉

Assume this will be the last one from me in this window - Doc has gone.

Great servant to the club and an all around top bloke. All the best Greg 🫡
Crumbs, you were great. Thank god for ya!

Where has Docherty gone or did we just release him before the deadline so he's got a bit of time to make a decision?

When exactly does the list of squad players have to be set with the EFL.
    End of today I believe.

Whatever they’re paying Garland for these videos, it’s not enough, absolutely incredible
Is there a link to this video(s)?

Classy words from Doc. Wish him all the very best wherever he ends up. Been a model pro and an excellent captain. Thanks Greg.

You have to equate the costs here into our budget this window as well.... mutual consent would surely have meant some money going his way as well. Curious to see who the next one to go is..... because surely they (ie Apter etc) will have much longer left on contracts. Wonder if we found a place for him to go? Or if we stick with him and maybe do something similar with Burke.

Great window and improvements in every position. Big up @stjohnshill @21cws @Covered_End_Lad and anyone else ITK I have missed! The Ouma reveal will be forever remembered 😂 Your work does not go unnoticed and we appreciate you 👊

Brutal for Doc but actually, it lets him pick his next club without strict time constraints.

I think letting him go now is more respectful than keeping him tied to a contract but not playing. He won't be short of suitors I think, he will be ensconced in another midfield soon enough.

Nothing but respect for Doc. A fantastic promotion winning captain, who will always be welcomed back!

Classy from the Club, but he fully deserves the opportunity to find a Club of his choice.
    Great Captain.

Reading that has made me a bit sad, obvious choice etc but that’s a proper pro there, hopefully got a decent send off behind the scenes.

Totally agree. Stjohnshill was amazing wasn’t he.

Hopefully Doc gets a good sent off too 😉

Jones was criticised for not living up to the "ruthless" claim this window, but releasing your captain is ruthless as it gets really.

Our midfield needed to evolve. A shame we can't bottle Doc's commitment, leadership and drive. Surely a great free pickup for a promotion-chasing league 1 side.

This. He was never going to make the cut for the 25 man squad - he would have basically sat around doing nothing for the remainder of his contract.  Been a great captain and clearly well liked around the club. Good that he will have got some kind of pay off and a chance to find his next club without any kind of pressure.

Wont Doc be up against squad caps with other clubs ?  Or are we assuming that suitable clubs wont have registered 25 players by this evening.

No clue how it works tbh.

Latest NTT20 is summing up every club’s deadline day.

There’s a couple of paragraphs each for Nkeng and Skipp written by Ali Maxwell. I think the last sentence on Skipp is great.

”In a settled, coherent side with a clear style of play, he may get back to what he did best, quietly bossing midfield battles.”

Just seen Greg Docherty is available as a free agent... Could do a job for us?
Not sure why he's not on Fab's list?
