JRC changed the game, has brilliant passing ability and linked the counter attacks so well

Great point from behind considering it was Alan’s first start, Leaburn was our only fit experienced striker, Binden made his debut and Skipp was unavailable.Wasn’t pretty, but we’re still picking up points with key players out. Onto Stoke where another point would be more than acceptable11

Agree with lots, but West Brom are a very good team and I’m sure will be challenging play offs. Good point in the end. Subs changed it for us, just like last Sat. Weird how it was winger coming on & midfielder going off then & today it was the opposite, with JRC coming on for Alli. I suppose it will take time to find out our best starting formation.
Re the new boys.......
Okonkwo was steady & catches everything near him. Also good at releasing the ball to the defence to get us on the go again. Binden naturally needs time to settle in but made a couple of decent challenges. MacNamara had his worse game for us - just wonder if he felt the "force" emanating from the Den - takes time for that to leave his body I suppose 🙂.
Mesik did the damage down the left & put in the best cross I've seen in ages. That deserved an asset on it's own. Shame it probably wont.
Ouma surprised me. I'll admit I was one of his detractors after last Wed, but he made some great passes this evening & was always there to get a foot in when needed.
All in all I would have taken a point at the start, but we really need to be more front footed if we are going to not be over ran by the opposition. 1 shot on target all game is not good.
However, don't want to leave on a negative so I'll counter that last severance by saying we are going to surprise a lot of teams this year. Congrats to the SMT for assembling a squad that should be capable of staying up.....and with a good wind maybe keep us interested in the top 8 come Easter.21 -

More like our play from last season, grind it out but with the ability to flow forward and hurt the opposition at times. I was more worried about this game than West Ham, it is the type we lose normally. Ecstatic with the point.

We pretty much nullified a good side at home, they score a banger from a cleared corner, that can happen, the organisation and concentration levels required to keep these sides out isn’t just luck and us being iffy, dreadful, smash and grab, once we become more clinical going forward we will be a real good side. Not sure what some people expect from a side away from home in the championship, only a couple of sides have the ability to dictate away as they do at home. Just saying don’t underestimate our performances just because we don’t always win. Scum got pumped at home tonight and people were saying what a solid championship outfit they are🤷🏻♂️5

Some thoughts about performances tonight.
I thought that was Danny Mac’s worst game for us so far. Not to say he was terrible, but not the usual consistent Mr Reliable.
Same goes for Bell. Got pulled apart a bit.
Bindon looks decent but was obviously in unfamiliar surroundings which made him a bit suspect. I expect he’ll be fine once he’s settled.
I’ve said it before, but TC’s been working on his left foot. Went past the right back a few times tonight. That’s perfect, because defenders will be kept guessing in upcoming games. And scored with his left again.
Miles looks so much stronger than last year.
Mwamba looked his age tonight. He’s looked excellent coming on as a sub with energy against tiring sides, but in a starting role, he was a bit naïve at times tonight. Has a great future, but I’d say impact sub is the way forward, for now at least. Having said that, good man management with an eye on the future from N Jones tonight, AM will have been buzzing about getting that start.
Okonkwo looked decent. I feel much better with him in goal.
L Jones was good, as ever.
Coventry looks so much better than last year, even in a turgid game where we’re passing backwards a lot.
Grant was ok, but just couldn’t seem to get going.
JRC was very good when he came on. He may have his faults and he may not be the quickest, but he’s got a real football brain.
Ouma looked ok
Mesik looked good again
Mbick looked lively but didn’t get much of a chance to do much.
Carey not on for long enough to make an impact.
In summary, that was a stinker of a game, but although nobody looked amazingly good, nobody had a stinker of a performance either. West Brom had us on toast for two thirds of the pitch, but a combination of us being organised as a team and them being too ponderous meant their chances were limited.
If we’d lost 1-0 you’d have to say it would’ve been a fair result, but we got a point and you could argue we deserved it because we made the most of the chance we had.
A good point. First 10 points took just 4 games. Lovely.

Win at home, draw away.
A pretty lackluster performance but we come away with a point.
Thought Macca, Bell, Alli, Grant and Leaburn were pretty off it today, and could tell that Bindon hasn't played alongside the rest.
TC saves us, but we'll need to be better overall than that to truly make a step forward in our evolution, hoping it's just a blip.
Thought Bell in particular struggled, and I'll be honest I think we need to start thinking about replacing him in the starting lineup and shifting him to the bench cover.
Apter and Knibbs on the bench, which one doesn't make it to Stoke, or are we not registering Koumetio/Burke/Godden instead?1 -
Midweek away draw after going behind on the hour. What's not to like? Every commentator is saying we looked so solid in defence. The goal wasn't well defended, but we aren't a top end squad, so 10 points is Dreamland.
We are getting up to speed as a team and have some injuries.
Millwall were (are) a top side and tonight had zero shots on goal, whilst losing 0-3. Their fans must be wondering what's happened. They have significant injuries already, so not just us.
Up next, an out of form Stoke. What could go wrong?1 -

Quite rare to see a triple substitution click straight away. Credit to NJ for that. Ouma, JRC and Mesik brought a real freshness and imposed themselves well.
We do need to be a bit careful with Bell, Grant, McNamara and Leaburn's minutes, even if that’s not really NJ’s way. You usually get a small dip before a niggle or injury, so a touch of light rotation to avoid a crisis would help.
Happy with an away point, even if I was hopeful with the throw-in and set piece in the closing minutes!5 -

Charlton Athletic maintain their unbeaten start to the season with this result. The Addicks came from behind to gain a very gritty 1-1 draw away at smooth passing and technically good West Bromwich Albion. It was a classic Charlton performance, soaked up the pressure for the vast majority of the game, but had just enough about them to ask the odd question, pose the occasional problem and score the odd goal. Charlton’s scorer Tyreece Campbell has now scored his fourth of the season after a brilliant knockdown from Miles Leaburn, which equalised an equally very good shot from Styles of West Brom who had opened the scoring ten minutes earlier.
Nathan Jones deserves a lot of credit for this result. He picked newly signed Bindon, who probably couldn’t even know the names of most of his new teammates, and gave a first senior team start to Alan Mwamba. In addition Nathan Jones deployed his substitutions well, and he once again put a team on the pitch that could sustain good levels of fitness and energy for the whole match.
When you go away to a classic well supported and well organised club such as West Bromwich Albion, grim up in the black country on a midweek evening, you are not expecting an easy ride. The challenge is do you melt or stand firm?
We didn’t melt in this match.
We now have a team to be reckoned with, even though there is a stern test coming up very quickly away at another classic club Stoke City on Saturday morning, so there is more reckoning to come.
If the away support there is as good as it was in this match, then there is a lot to be proud of. Apart from ten minutes after the Baggies scored it was our fans singing all the time. Well done guys.
They say that The Hawthorns is the stadium at the highest altitude in English Football, well at the moment Charlton Athletic and the fans might well need oxygen masks at they sit joint top of the summit of the Championship.

Happy with a point at the Hawthorns although slightly frustratrated by the unforced errors.
We had chances to break up their domination at times, but gave the ball back to them too often.2 -
Danny Mac was just a bit off it tonight, not awful, but he’s set himself a high standard, don’t think it was a tiredness thing. Thought Bell struggled more but was up against some tricky players, have to say Danny Mac was having to deal with Price who is a good player and Styles.7

Am really pleased for JRC. Was really happy when we signed him off Blackburn and he really seems to have settled and found a home this season. Long may it last.7

Happy with that,woulda taken a point all day long before KO,messy game but our defence held on solidly helped by Charlton’s new no1….if not for a couple missed placed paces towards the end,we might have even sneaked it…but the boys dug into once again to earn a well earned point with a team that could be challenging the top by end of season,onwards n upwards ❤️🤍
