Without doubt the worst refereeing display I’ve ever seen. The penalty killed us after a good start.
Then he seemingly booked our players, while letting Stoke get away with far worse.
The 5 mins around the corner that wasn’t neatly summed up the entire game.
A blantant corner but no, play on says Bobby then he books DM almost immediately. Ball back up the other end and Wilmot absolutely flies through Leaburn. The most obvious of yellows. But instead he issues another one to DM and sends him off.
Unforgivable officiating.But…it’s been a great start so turn the page, ramp up the NJ siege mentality and take it all out on QPR.COYRs10 -

Considering the resilience we’ve shown time and time again under Jones - it’s always a bit of a shock when a capitulation like that comes along.
One thing I wouldn’t say about this team, is that they have a weak mentality. With our resources, barring a miracle season, we are going to have these sorts of results - or at least lose a fair few games.
Don't think the schedule, referring or line up helped - but that being said you would hope we still managed all of it a bit better.
Onto QPR where I fully expect a response.3 -

Referee was terrible but let's not excuse how we completely collapsed after the first goal. Fans were brilliant and just glad we didn't concede again. Jones just cannot deal with playing his old sides. The less said about Bindon, Ouma, JRC and Skipp, the better.
Mac's red card puts us in a tricky spot for Wednesday. Are Ramsay and/or Edwards ever going to come back?

We were class in the first 10 mins then a sloppy turnover and poor penalty caused us to meltdown.
Too many changes for me, so early on in the season. We worry too much about having 2 games in a week I think.
Would be happy to not see Ouma or the ref ever again.

My expectation on explanation of the red card - McNamara runs over pointing out that he got a yellow for a foul in the same place at the other end of the pitch. Yes he “waved” a card but to signify HIS yellow card for the equivalent, because he was pointing to the opposite corner at the same time.
if the ref is to have any credibility from this match, he will accept that the decision should be overturned.7 -

Actually played quite well up until the penalty, then absolutely collapsed.
Need to get some bodies back soon, as we're losing someone every game and it's already started to catch up with us.
We were terrible but Madley was absolutely shocking, haven't seen a ref performance that bad for a long time.3 -

Well. We do tend to have one or two of these absolutely insane away performances in us a season, at least it's consistent that it's Stoke again. Stoke are a side who should be aiming for the top 4 this season, they've invested more than any other club this season and brought in some really good players. Devenny, Soumare and Galbraith is an insane midfield at this level and realistically we're always going to struggle against a side that have spent £40m this summer.Having said that, we were really naive all round today. It's absolutely insane behaviour to change your entire midfield 3 for a Saturday away game and even more so when you give Skipp his debut, Ouma his full league debut and stick JRC in the 10 for the first time from the start. Jones has to take a huge amount of blame for that, I get that he's rotating and he's been scarred by us already having, what, 8 first team injuries already but it was nonsense to put those three together. Carey could have started and at least we'd have had a bit more consistency there. Coventry surely can't need resting at this stage in the season either. We were really good for the first ten but the penalty changed everything. It was incredibly soft, the Stoke player was smart diving headfirst for the ground and Ouma should have seen it and let him go but it's still abject, inconsistent refereeing. Ouma's head went after that and he cost us another goal, and then more frustratingly Leaburn and Lloyd's heads completely went as well which is not a good indicator for us.From there we were in full collapse and the players let every dodgy reffing decision after that wind them up even more. Bozenik assaulted Jones as a header came in and didn't get a card and then Leaburn contested a header fairly and got booked. Then Galbraith put in a horrible tackle and we get an advantage that was never on instead of a free kick. Cue silliness from our players instead of a proper footballing reaction. The McNamara red after that just felt inevitable, and of course it came after Stoke didn't get a yellow for a horrible scything challenge on Leaburn. Galbraith then being allowed to fly across with a high boot and still not get a second yellow summed it all up. It's not easy when the ref seems to be specifically tearing your team apart but the mentality in reaction to it was dreadful. I'd like to have seen that game without the ref killing it with a dodgy penalty early on but equally you're always due a setback in football and it seemed like any at all would have tipped us over today. Bizarre, let's hope we get the likes of Koumetio, Chalobah, Kelman and Ramsay back soon and pray that Ouma and Skipp aren't too scarred by today because we will need them again16

Once the players lose confidence that the ref is going to officiate fairly (ie, once the penalty was awarded), it’s very hard to stay focussed.
Our complaint about Stoke getting 24 hours extra rest is also a major factor. Hence the team selection.
Just have to write this one off. Kudos to our fans (including my brother) who supported the team brilliantly.

Trying to keep everything under control in how I respond to that.
Frankly anything that could have gone wrong went wrong. We won’t have that much go against us again all season.
Ironically I now fully expect a response on Weds v QPR. You don’t have a game like today and turn up anything other then 100mph for your next home game.Honestly - the first 10 mins I was saying to my son Ouma looks really good! Next thing we have 2 moments of madness and I am left wondering if he will ever recover.
Skipp and Coventry were comfortable second half.
We have to get players back fit now. Kelman has been banging them in during training for 2 weeks so we are told. Get him on the bench for QPR.Got to get that out our heads and start again v QPR2 -
A complete stinker all round. As annoying as they are, they happen to everyone and probably not a bad thing we get a wake up call this early on in the season. I actually agreed with the changes, it was just one of those days we need to write off. There’s a massive chance to get 7 points from the next 3 games, or at least a minimum of 5 hopefully. COYR3

Fact is we were not that bad we started of like a steam train Stoke were there for the taking .. then a pen that if that’s pen you will see 7/8 every game … second goal ckear handball leading up to it clearance hits Grant drops nicely for there player third was the only goal we should have stopped Bindon has to better .. the 4th was a back heel defection …. …. And we had to deal with the ref and that’s it 4-0 …….. but we showed great character second half even with another shocking call from the ref .. not sure he would have been any worse if he wore a Stoke shirt ..
the only mistake we made was changing mid so much it was unfair in new players just thrown together really .. all the people wanted Coventry out eat your words today … he as to be first name on the team sheet every game

As poor as Stoke were (no seriously) their goals were all well taken. The third (I haven't seen it) but there is a reported pull on Bindon for the scorer to head to ball home. If that's three that shouldn't have stood, then we maybe go in at half time 1-0 and have a fighting chance.
The foul on Jones to the ribs was so poor and definitely angered the whole team, so to see no card produced was the sign of inconsistent officiating to follow.
The away end was immense and a credit to the club. Jones went over to show appreciation as they never stopped singing. Hallows humour or otherwise, they realised that they just needed to puff out their chests and sing, sing and sing.3 -

My son warned me about the ref before the game. He said he is a ref where it is all about him. He also told me he was relegated from the Premier League for taking the piss out of a disabled person. Why is it ok to ref in the Championship. Are the standards less? No way we were going to get anything out of the game with that clown in charge so philosophical about it. I do hope he gets what is coming for him from the assessor.
Final points. The EFL could identify these sort of refs and kick them out. My son tipped me off about him before the game so it wasn't a revelation. Also the league has to look at its fixtures. Very unfair on us. That can't even be argued.6
