Watched this one on CTV and tbh I wasn't worried by the starting lineup NJ picked...... and I certainly wasn't during the first 15 minutes or so.....
After the penalty and seeing the footage of NJ giving it large to the 4th official........ I did wonder if he should be spending his time getting the guys to settle down and get their heads back in the game.....1 -

Maybe we can dip into the free agent market. I would try and release Burke if we canSouthbank said:Our midfield problem highlighted today. Chalobah unreliable, Ouma raw and no effective number 10. We have had Carey, Knibbs, Grant, Costello in that position, 4 in 6 games, and nobody looks right. Grant probably the best of a poor bunch.
Some of us pointed this out preseason when all the talk was about a rightwinger. Well we did not get that either.
We are stuck now until January at least. Hopefuly one of the above 4 will come good0 -
A real shame to see such an attention-seeking refereeing display. Such a poor penalty to give, rather than have a word with both players, especially as their attacker was not even challenging vertically for the ball.Changing your entire midfield in the Championship away from home was going to be damaging in one way or another.3

As bad as the ref was that was stupid of McNamara to run that length just to wave an imaginary card, especially with all our defensive problems.8

Glen Hoddle was allowed back into the pro gamePragueAddick said:
Sorry, WHAT??? Is that documented somewhere? That’s not a “ relegation” offence, thats a “get out of pro football” offence.MuttleyCAFC said:My son warned me about the ref before the game. He said he is a ref where it is all about him. He also told me he was relegated from the Premier League for taking the piss out of a disabled person. Why is it ok to ref in the Championship. Are the standards less? No way we were going to get anything out of the game with that clown in charge so philosophical about it. I do hope he gets what is coming for him from the assessor.
Final points. The EFL could identify these sort of refs and kick them out. My son tipped me off about him before the game so it wasn't a revelation. Also the league has to look at its fixtures. Very unfair on us. That can't even be argued.0 -
Great work to get that out so quickly. Anyone see Danny Mac brandishing a “card” there?fenaddick said:1 -
It was on the wider shot on Sky Sports. Still a total overacting from the refPragueAddick said:

Haven't seen the penalty but if VAR was involved would they have over turned the decision?0

I'm not one for knee jerk reactions, but we'll be lucky to be in the national league his time next year.16

On the sky replay, they showed his whole run - 40 yards from right back to left wing - and it did look like he made a booking gesture about half way across.PragueAddick said:

However… he immediately pointed back to his right back position, so I *think* the intent was not to insinuate a booking, but to highlight that he’d booked him 2 minutes before for a similar challenge.11 -
Suppose millwall and palarse will win today to make me even more miserable.1

WTF
Draw line

When you “wave a card” you have to hold your arm up vertically, surely? He doesnt do that at all, his arm is outstretched at 90 degrees towards the other side of the pitch, he is obviously referring to his own yellow.JohnnyH2 said:

BTW i am referring to the same “wider shot”. Charlton TV have to use the same feed as Sky broadcast, as I understand it, certainly at away games.2 -
Your paragraph about Ouma is spot on. No idea why there always has to be a fool guy on here, but as soon as your name is black then that's it, you're done for.Clem_Snide said:Started well and I was actually thinking to myself, how it was nice to finally see a Charlton team that looked like it was a physical match for a traditionally strong, powerful outfit.
Then Madley decided to get involved. That is the softest of soft penalties. 9/10 that isn't given and if VAR is in the Championship then it is overturned as they were both holding, it is just that the Stoke bloke decided to throw himself to the floor.
I am not for one moment saying Ouma had a good game, but as I said on the match thread the pile on was embarassing and seems to fit this Charlton Fan obsession with having someone to scapegoat and slag off. He clearly wasn't passing to Grant for the second, it was an attempted clearance that hit our player and dropped perfectly for Stoke. If you are going to call out Ouma why are you not equally questioning Skipp? A player established in this country who has played loads in the premier league and championship was utterly anonymous.
TBH I am more concerned with how poor Bindon has looked in his 2 games. His weak header gave West Brom a goal on Weds and he completely went to sleep for the 3rd goal today. Stood and watched the bloke. So he is currently 2 games played, 2 goals on him.
The 4th goal sums up a day when everything that could go wrong did. Their player was jumping out of the way of a shot going wide and it clips his heel and goes in.
All that being said the collective mental collapse for 20 minutes after the penalty stunk of Charlton teams of yesteryear.
Back to the referee and Linesman, I actually think the corner not given from the back pass was up there as one of the worst decisions I have ever seen. It was 3 yards over the line when their keeper cleared it.
I left the 'hi-lights' running at full time as I wanted to see McNamara's sending off again. An absolute joke of a decision. He was sent off for pointing at the goal which was interpreted as waving his hand asking for a card. Utter nonsense.

Honestly I don’t think so. It was soft, but I’mKarim_myBagheri said:Haven't seen the penalty but if VAR was involved would they have over turned the decision?

Another reminder that this non-corner is what led to McNamara’s first yellow card.WSS said:The non-corner decision is crazy. Neither of the keepers feet are even on the pitch!
Compounded by another yellow that wasn’t.
Just shocking officiating all round.17 -
sorry, just bad timing for the question, I’ve still got the arsehole about it.Karim_myBagheri said:

What's Sunday league football done to deserve him...Beckboy said:That ref should be demoted to Sunday League football10 -
Yes, that was truly a bad referee performance. Baffling and bizarre the penalty against us. That kind of tussling is two a penny in today’s game. And then the blatant foul on Lloyd Jones which didn’t even warrant a talking to from the referee. And to cap it all off, Miles is chopped down near the byline. The Stoke player didn’t even get a talking to and McNamara receives a 2nd yellow card, presumably for dissent, and is sent off. This ref seriously needs to be looked at.10

Those saying spending money doesn’t mean a successful signing, tell that to Boro’ with Lankshear, it’s certainly going to give you a better percentage of success.5

One of the things I judge a player on is retaking possession so he’s failed miserably theregolfaddick said:

Ref was a total and utter wanker that should be reported, and probably on a Bet 365 bribe.
however it’s amazing how NJ cannot play against teams he has managed before ?
we have to move on and bounce back !!0 -
Did not see the game but I said to the Mrs when I saw that Madley was in charge we had no chance. Well known as the biggest cheating twat in football. All about him not the game, should have been booted out for good years ago.3

Well I can, he cost a fortune we don’t have, what’s your point as I didn’t suggest we should sign him?se9addick said:

Really looking forward to the reaction if PeterGage comes on here later and tells us why all Madley's decisions were in fact correct8
