The spare ball is nearer to the pitch, a few seconds later & DMc getting his yellow.
Officiating being extremely poor being one thing, but am I seeing 4-0 on the scoreline in the top left corner and we're complaining about a corner decision?7 -
6 of one and half a dozen of the other, result nothin given, that is what should have happenedCharltonManor1966 said:Ref was very poor. BUT on the penalty, you just cannot wrap your arms around someone and hold him right in front of the ref.
They are meant to be clamping down on all that this season so don't give him a decision to make.
Naive defending from a player obviously not at this level yet.3 -
Annoyingly, we play on Wednesday (QPR), then Pompey on Saturday, but Pompey have no midweek game, as I assume their opponents are still in the EFL Cup.
So 2 weeks running, we'll be more tired than our opponents. Indeed significantly so.6 -

Really looking forward to Cardiff :-(8 -
Even worse news, I'm actually at the Pompey match. I tend to be a bad luck charmkillerandflash said:Annoyingly, we play on Wednesday (QPR), then Pompey on Saturday, but Pompey have no midweek game, as I assume their opponents are still in the EFL Cup.

Last time I was at a match against a team from the south coast it was Southampton at home...2

To be fair, I think we had a significant break compared to Pompey when we last played them at the Valley and we still got pumped..killerandflash said:Annoyingly, we play on Wednesday (QPR), then Pompey on Saturday, but Pompey have no midweek game, as I assume their opponents are still in the EFL Cup.

Because it led to a Stoke attack, which led to McNamara getting his first yellow....and so on.SELR_addicks said:guinnessaddick said:

He also said we weren’t going to score 4 which is fair enough and quite rational even if it isn’t a popular ideagolfaddick said:12 -
It's an illustration of a low point in a whole match of terrible refereeing decisions, but you know thatSELR_addicks said:guinnessaddick said:

Probably an unpopular opinion but just watched the Nathan Jones interview where he said they don't have to apologise to the fans, strange comment.
He has obviously done a good job and is supported by default as manager of the club but as a man I really do think he's a bit of prick.
He seems to have some sort of grudge against the supporters, always harping back to that Crawley game where they got a bit of stick (rightly so). He's a strange one - I can see why many dislike him.15 -
Grant is quite good there for 60 minutes, but we need him elsewhere. The other three, no chance.Southbank said:Our midfield problem highlighted today. Chalobah unreliable, Ouma raw and no effective number 10. We have had Carey, Knibbs, Grant, Costello in that position, 4 in 6 games, and nobody looks right. Grant probably the best of a poor bunch.
Some of us pointed this out preseason when all the talk was about a rightwinger. Well we did not get that either.
We are stuck now until January at least. Hopefuly one of the above 4 will come good
I am not disheartened. We have Campbell, Ramsay, Edwards, Koumetio, and Chalobah who could all improve today's team, and we have not done so badly up to now. We are 7 points clear of relegation after only 5 games and we are unlikely to ever face a referee like that again.3 -
Have to say, I'm not convinced by Bindon. Given the circs and short time frame, he was a necessary and welcome addition to the squad but really want to see Koumetio back alongside LJ asap.7

Yeah, lots of Stoke and Southampton fans with their boring continuous "Cheer up Nathan Jones" stuffELCAFC123 said:Probably an unpopular opinion but just watched the Nathan Jones interview where he said they don't have to apologise to the fans, strange comment.

All I would say is it sounded like United fans were saying the same thing when he first started playing for them.PeanutsMolloy said:Have to say, I'm not convinced by Bindon. CB I think is the toughest position to come into if you don’t know your team mates and have not played with them.

I think he says it because he knows the fans know they’re sorry.ELCAFC123 said:Probably an unpopular opinion but just watched the Nathan Jones interview where he said they don't have to apologise to the fans, strange comment.

And he went up to all of the away fans obviously apologising.20 -
Could he have said it to put his head above the parapet so he gets the flak and not the lads I wonder?1

Hopefully when Carey starts Wednesday nobody has an issue with it, Grant isn’t the answer, I think some tough decisions need making going forwards about who we are trying to fit into the team for the benefit of the team. We have a problem when chalobah isn’t available, I’m not convinced Skipp is a direct replacement for him, Chalobah looking to drive forward is a big plus. Too much tinkering today cost us big time.0
-
Just dusted off my tin hat.
I thought Skipp played well.8 -
In over 60 years of watching Charlton we have played 2 games a week on and off I can’t understand why people make a big thing about it They are professional Athletes supposedly so don’t do so much training during the week . Oh and if we didn’t have a midweek game players still get injured in trainingkillerandflash said:Annoyingly, we play on Wednesday (QPR), then Pompey on Saturday, but Pompey have no midweek game, as I assume their opponents are still in the EFL Cup.

Red card changed the game.13

No but on the footage they showed on Sky after the game Danny Mac, for me, showed a card and then pointed.PragueAddick said:
Great work to get that out so quickly. Anyone see Danny Mac brandishing a “card” there?fenaddick said:3 -

First 10 minutes aside we were awful.
Ouma, he really isn't being a made a scapegoat, he was terrible in an awful half and couldn't do a thing right - he stood out for all the wrong reasons which overshadowed Bindon and Jones losing his head.
We never recovered from the soft penalty, Stoke took advantage and were, despite what a lot of their fans think over in Reddit, benefited massively from some incredibly poor and helpful officiating.
I can see the need for changes given the shirt turn around but that was mental from Jones to make so many, especially given our good start and wanting to keep the momentum going.
Mesik - Continued to look class, great showing form him today.
Leaburn - The only other bright spark, battled well and have the Stoke back line something to deal with.
Day to forget really.2
