So far that is an anomaly of this season, we’ve been good at keeping goals out and getting teams in the counter.The important thing is that we don’t let it happen again. Get a draw on Wednesday and then try and get at Pompey as they are the team we should really be beating2

Its factual that he has mentioned that Crawley game lots of times, I think that's weird.6 -
I don't know how tired/at risk of injury Coventry was, but that midfield 3 was a "brave" call, and not just in hindsight. Ouma is clearly still adjusting to the English game, Skipp has just arrived while JRC ahead of them isn't the sort of player who will press from the front. Very soft penalty award against Ouma, but the second goal was from a terrible clearance from him. A panicky hack at the ball when he wasn't under any real pressure, which gave Grant no chance.
I had wondered before the game if we were playing 343, with Mesik and JRC as the wingbacks. It probably wouldn't have been any worse defensively, especially as Stoke play with 3 at the back as well.
Some baffling decisions by the referee didn't help. 2 blatant bookings by the referee missed, the second one leading to a second yellow for our player instead.
The non use of Knibbs all season is confusing. It's as if Jones told him he wasn't wanted, but he failed to find another club, so is just "there". For example, why not bring him on for Miles instead of bringing Mbick on. We weren't after a goal, all we wanted was someone to be a nuisance up front.0 -
I mean, he's quite clearly said it in the terms that it's not a level of performance where you have to apologise to the fans, like the abject showings against Stoke last season, as the effort was there from the players for the most part they were just derailed by bad refereeing decisions and their reactions to them, but he's apologised anyway. Not quite - interviewer said was it for an injury.... NJ said no it wasnt, it was to protect him for Weds because we werent coming back into this. Penalty decision was poor but the Stoke player took full advantage of Ouma's inexperience. He initiated the tussle & then made it appear as though he was wrestled to the ground rather than choosing to go down. Wouldn't write Ouma off just yet but clearly has a lot to learn about Championship football & not ready to start games.
Even though we were already 4 down, I was more annoyed by the decision not to book Bozenik for the nasty foul on Jones & the dubious sending off of McNamara, which only came about due to the officials failing to give us a blatant corner.
Despite the score line I think there were some positives. Skipp looked like he could be a useful addition & Mesik continued to impress. Definitely think the squad is stronger this season but given that most teams will have strengthened, have we closed the gap enough to compete over a long season. Hopefully the anser is yes, especially once the likes of Edwards, Ramsey, Kelman & Billy are back.5 -
We were bad but I genuinely don't think we were 4-0 bad. Sometimes you get games where everything just falls into place, this was the exact opposite. We made an unusual amount of mistakes which were almost universally seized upon, NJ took a few chances in the selection which didn't work but without some awful officiating we may have been able to recover and adjust.
I don't see any particular reason to assume this is a sign of a bad run incoming as I really can't see so many things going so badly wrong on a regular basis.8 -

You could not do shirt pulling etc but if the opposition are doing it and getting away with it, you're at an obvious disadvantage.
You can't have the laws of the game differing depending on the referee.2 -

He wouldn't have done if the ref was remotely competent and had booked the Stoke player. But Stoke fouled Leaburn from the 3rd minute onwards and never picked up a booking for it. Was an absolute disgrace. I'm not going to criticise Danny Mc for getting fed up with it.

He was in the right-back position. He ran all the way the left corner although not implicated in the incident. That could only have been to cause trouble and immediately prejudices the ref against him. He has played well but needed a day off today. He made sure he got one.LargeAddick said:

I’ve never been to a game where we have been roasted 4-0 and the entire Charlton away fans stayed, applauded and sang until every player left the pitch. Felt immensely proud to be a Charlton fan today and could see the players were grateful for our support. Those ten men played with a lot of heart in that second half, against their eleven and three officials, who were f’king diabolical.28

I just woke up from my angry nap. Finished 4-0, then? I saw all the goals. Maybe I'll just sleep through the next game so we don't concede at all.
