Given that we are losing Milnes and possibly Dudgeon too (we can't play three overseas players) we would have a very long tail, as Khaled can't bat, if we don't play Ekansh and Stewart. I suspect that we will include Parkinson but if the pitch proves to be another green seamer then Quinn . I would pick this side:

    Compton
    Crawley
    Northeast
    Muyeye
    DBD
    Benjamin
    Ekansh
    Stewart
    Mahmud
    Parkinson / Quinn
    Khaled

I’d leave out Quinn and Foreman and either a quick bowler or Parky depending on the evaluation of the pitch.

I know. Maybe Khaled as Mahmud and Dudgeon bowled well in the second innings last time to win it. My preference Khaled, Foreman and Quinn.

Brilliant start. The weather might have a part to play so early wickets are absolute gold for Kent.
  • Too embarrasssed to put up the stream ?
  • Stream live now.

We actually strengthened the batting even more than even I thought we would. Instead of, as in the last game, when we had Stewart, Dudgeon and Milnes at 7, 8 & 9 we now have Ekansh, Stewart and Foreman.

Those two deliveries from Mahmud were beauties. Pitch does look very green though the commentators seem to infer that because Derbyshire are playing more than one spinner it will turn. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

Including a spinner in the England squad so imagine he won't be playing in Birmingham...

We can only do our bit and win here but with Worcs playing Northants (match delayed), a win for Worcs, or even a draw, would mean that we could afford to lose one of our final two matches and still go up.

Leicestershire sign Nathan Gilchrist on loan from Warks for 2 CC games. He doesn't seem to have played much recently his last CC game was in June, and didn't make their Blast team.

To think some people on a certain other forum were bemoaning losing Gilchrist and critisising the re-signing of Milnes.

    In the CC:

    Gilchrist - 12 wickets @ 32.75
    Milnes - 38 wickets @ 23.78

It worked out well for us, bowling on probably the most helpful day for seam bowling.

Having said that, as Derby have 2 spinners, they might have wanted to bowl last anyway!

89-4 (27) at lunch. A decent morning for us.
