Sometimes you just have to get your foot in there to give it some encouragement.5

Any good at dislodging false fingernails?Carter said:My solution is, if possible, install a bidet. If you don't have the space then buy a portable bum gun. Can pick them up for 30 quid. It isn't worth cheaping out on them, they will leave your dung funnel feeling as fresh as a spring lamb. Then you are just dabbing and drying your puckered balloon knot. These bum guns pay for themselves in bog roll savings fairly quickly and you are saving trees too
I use room temperature water but after treating myself to a Vindaloo from the star of Bengal I fill it with water first thing and leave it to chill in the fridge. When that ice cold water hits my raging bullseye my eyes go like the undertaker from WWF. Life changing and leaves you with a muck pipe you could eat a salad off1 -

Bum guns are fine in the tropics where it's warm enough to dry you (apart from the one in Malaysia that was probably made by karcher and was so powerful it almost made me spit water like a fountain) but I don't want a damp arse in the UK. A Japanese style toilet like the ones in the shard.is my idea of luxury. Sprays and then has a dryer. The definition of luxury.2

Ok, this should be on the things that generally annoy you thread, but I thought it deserved a thread of its' own.
We had a toilet that always seemed to leave a sheet of paper when flushed, no matter whether there had been a lot of paper or very little.
We got a new toilet (not solely for that reason) I read the reviews and no one mentioned this problem with the toilet I was going to buy.
It's not like you can test it.
Anyway, obviously the new toilet does exactly the same, although not on the day it was installed.
So I really need to know how common this is?

Replacing your toilet wasn't the answer. You need to move house.
Hope that answers your query.

I'm going to stray into the realms of too much information but I feel like we have all bonded hereMcBobbin said:Bum guns are fine in the tropics where it's warm enough to dry you (apart from the one in Malaysia that was probably made by karcher and was so powerful it almost made me spit water like a fountain) but I don't want a damp arse in the UK. The trick or the art with the bum gun. The washing is only 50%. Drying is crucial, its lunacy to wash but not dry ones ringpiece. Whilst I agree, the shard toilets in shangri-la are truly elite tier. I think over a night stay in went through every programme the toilet had. It is as easy as having a few face flannels in the drawer in the bathroom to buff and importantly a mini laundry bin for those bad boys. If you use the sluicer properly which you shall with plenty practice you won't taint the flannels.
Whilst on the subject. The Icelandics, due to their diet being very meat-focussed, like to keep a folding footstool by the can to replicate more of a squat as opposed to a sit when dropping anchor. Avoids kinking the colon and opens the bowels up in a similar way to our south-asian brethren. Very sensible investment that. Give it a go, for the sake of £50 or less spent you will change your shitting for the better and ensure any..... lost property gets removed too @SuedeAdidas2 -
You don’t have these troubles if you just keep a bread knife in the carsey0

Have you adjusted the flush? A lot of modern cisterns have been set from factory at a lower than optimum amount of water. Pre around 2001 toilets flushed 6/9 litres, now it's 4/6 or eco toilets even less, sometimes down to 4.5l for a full flush.
Is it a hidden cistern, often they are the worst. I gave up with mine that you get from the usual places (same problem), and put in a 9l old fashioned plastic tank (hidden).

I'm assuming that for a toilet review it's not a 5 star rating, it would be like a 5 "golden jobbie" rating?
I'm probably overdue a bathroom renovation and I've been out of the loop.0 -

Can I be the first to nominate this as a candidate for thread of the year. CL rarely disapoints, much more enjoyable than the QPR post match thread. Try adjusting the float arm to get a bit more water volume.1

My advice; go veggie.
You don't get a lot of advance warning but you'll never give birth.0 -
When I used to work in people's houses and was fitting a new toilet, I had an unwritten rule that I had to be the last person to use their old toilet and the first to use the new one.1

Been to Greece loads of times and can't recall ever putting paper down the loo....as long as the bin has a lid it's never been a problem.....not keen on those squat toilets mind.LargeAddick said:
Still do that in some places in the Med, like Cyprus although it's becoming rarer.ElfsborgAddick said:
Be grateful you do not live out in Brazil. The paper does not go in the toilet but in the bin instead, I use plenty of air freshener and cleaning products as you can imagine.0 -
I think I posted on here before a good few years back that we had a japanese style toilet installed in our old house, that we picked up from the Ideal Home Exhibition or something like that. It took some getting used to but was bloody brilliant for the 3 and a bit years when it worked. It developed a leak so we had to get rid.
It was bloody hilarious hearing the reaction of guests who used it over the years. I remember when my sister-in-law tried it for the first time. The bedroom window was open (it was our ensuite), and you could hear her ear splitting scream from halfway down the garden when she pressed the button. We were all in absolute hysterics as we all knew what had happened.
She came down a few minutes later and looked very sheepish, as if she was still in shock. She came straight up to me, punched my arm so hard she gave me a dead arm and blamed me for her feeling violated haha. One of them you just had to be there family moments.1 -
