Nice Sunday afternoon nap. I don't think this track is salvageable so 10 years of this to come.

F2 adds a second qualifying and second feature race to the Baku weekend. Pretty much confirms we aren't going to the Middle East

Even the drivers were bored!  Changes planned: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/articles/ckwyzllzdq43o

I don't think the changes will be enough, the circuit is too narrow for the most part, with a lot of corners that string the field out, then the braking zones aren't long enough for overtakes because there's no run-off

Invicta sign Freddie Slater for F2 next season
  • Shocked!! - I hope we'll still see him on the F2 Grid before the end of the season

Either Trident for Bennett or maybe one of the AIXs?

I'm expecting massive grid changes in F2 for next season anyways with so many 2nd/3rd year drivers.

Be nice as well for Slater if he can start getting a few FP1 sessions with Audi, now that he's 18 - Notice that Paul Aron has already used up two slots that Audi need to fulfil, and suspect Mexico will be the next where they get a Reserve in

A new track in Spain and one it is difficult to overtake on. It shouldn't just be about the money. The product is important too.

Not in the cars though, it's just the drivers running 10 laps of the track

Yeah seen a list going around with Monaco,Canada, Bahrain, Australia, Silverstone,Qatar , Abu Dhabi, Japan and Brazil as the supposed sprints for next year
  • The sprint format needs to be changed anyway - as at the moment they too often turn into 20 lap tyre saving / hold your position exercises.
  • I'm more against Monaco, given the historic nature of the Grand Prix on the Sunday
Yes its not the most exciting race on the Calendar (Its better than that bloody Madrid circuit), but it would be like having a second Le Mans race as a warm up sprint, or a second, shorter Indy 500 race the day before... Those three should be left well alone.

Well technically Indy have ran a road course race 2 weeks before the 500 for a few years now. I know it's not exactly the same but they believe it grows the hype around the race.

To make it more interesting they should do an f2 style part reverse grid race for the sprint
  • and a potential sprint race championship decider for the last race of the season (Abu Dhabi)... not sure how I feel about it
  • In other news, anybody watching Max vs 100 amateurs in the kart race at Silverstone?

    On Disney+ at 6pm tonight

Think it'll be a fun watch, I'll be tuning in for sure.

Hurrah. We now get 2 races processions on the most boring track in F1 plus a new contender for most boring track in F1 (Madrid).

A sprint race in Monaco would just be silly.

Booked my accommodation for Portimao - just about to book the flights (that have already jumped in pricefrom this morning)
  • Did anybody watch the Max v 100? He overtook 64 cars in the first lap, was pretty insane.

Ti make it more interesting, they should have to run the race in reverse - as in backwards, not anti-clockwise.

Would have been more interesting if they were pro karters, but it seems like the first 20-30 he overtook simply because they didn't know how to drive a Kart

Yeah I'd rather see him take on the best karters and a few of the feeder series stars than a bunch of influencers. At least give him a proper challenge

Will be interesting to see what F2 teams pick Slater and Ugochukwo up
Apparently Slater is off to Invicta , not sure on Ugo - maybe Campos?
I think what'll be truly interesting next year, is the new Car... those two will probably go to those teams
But nothing to say we wont get a repeat of Bearman struggling in the usually dominate Prema with the new regs though
Varrone out at VAR , surely it's Freddie or Ugo?
