With all the talk about how the England players need their minutes managed, quite old school for Abbas to finish a Test match at the weekend, and be bowling for his county in a game starting Tuesday.Addick Addict said:Derbyshire have taken off Muhammad Abbas because he was proving a bit expensive with figures of 5-4-1-02 -
We actually need someone to rough up the square, so that Bashir can clean up tomorrow!Briston_Addick said:1 -
I can think of a few countiries where that would be 'interesting' and could be compared to betting patternsAddick Addict said:
Especially as Glamorgan were dismissed in their last match for 65 & 69 respectivelykillerandflash said:Elsewhere, Glamorgan batted on and on and on against Surrey, finishing on 594, leaving Surrey a ludicrous 612 to win. Glamorgan only need the draw to stay up.
A bizarre pitch, when the scores are 132, 115, 594.0 -

Apologies. I will now make it clearer for everyone.Kent Derbyshire have a minimum of 96 overs tomorrow, weather permitting, to take 10 wickets but, there again even without adverse weather, they might not have as many as 96 overs to bowl because Derbyshire Northants might get the 312 runs they need to win the game before then so the number of wickets Kent Derbyshire takes will become irrelevant but, on the other hand, Kent Derbyshire might not take 10 wickets and Derbyshire Northants might not reach their target of 312 runs so the result will be a draw unless Derbyshire Northants happen to be 348 all out in which case the result will be a tie.

Snow forecast overnight in Northampton....
...followed by a big unseasonal freeze.0 -
I have visions of Milnes and co looking at Charlton Life, to see how the public have reacted to their win (now nobody is allowed to comment on X) and reacting with horror at the news that they have to drive up to Northampton to take 10 wickets tomorrow.5

The ECB really needs to look at the bonus points for next season.
It's all very well rewarding teams for managing to get 450 runs in 110 overs but when it is nigh on impossible to do so, more often than not, then there really isn't a level playing field between rewarding bat and ball. And that's with a maximum of 5 batting bonus pts vs 3 bowling bonus pts per game too.
Div 1 - Total Batting bonus points for 10 teams: 4, 13, 14, 16, 20, 20, 21, 24, 25, 27
Div 2 - Total Batting bonus points for 10 teams: 7, 10, 15, 18, 19, 27, 31, 33
Div 1 - Total Bowling bonus points for 8 teams: 32, 33, 33, 34, 35, 35, 36, 36, 38, 39
Div 2 - Total Bowling bonus points for 8 teams: 33, 34, 34, 35, 37, 37, 37, 37
Batting bonus pts range for all 18 teams: 4 to 33 (average 19 pts per team or 1.46 out of a max of 5 points per game)
Bowling bonus pts range for all 18 teams: 32 to 39 (average 35 points or 2.69 out of max of 3 points per game)
Perhaps the solution, if they are going to limit points to those gained in 110 overs is to make it 200, 250, 300, 350 & 400. Or play the CC throughout June, July and August. Think we know which is more likely!!!6 -
