Was the bag bought in the club shop or not?valleynick66 said:As far as I can see that doesnt stipulate ‘A4’ size. It’s about proportional and appropriate measures.
I'd love to know what stewards have been trained to spot in a bag search!1 -
There is absolutely nothing in Martyn's law that bans the acceptable use of a normal backpack size. Most normal backpacks are slightly larger than the random A4 size that has been chosen. I really do think Charlton are using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Losing supporters too.8
-
and you don't see many backpacks - so just check at the gate surely?0

Why does your uncle keep your aunt in a pen? Is he married to a goat?addickson said:They could make the size clearer, e.g. smaller than the garden of my uncle, but larger than the pen of my aunt0 -
I tend to think of an A4 bag size as what you see dodgy teenagers and chavs sporting as ‘man bags’ for their drugs or vapes 😀0

Perfect for a lot of the coke heads that go to football then 👌valleynick66 said:I tend to think of an A4 bag size as what you see dodgy teenagers and chavs sporting as ‘man bags’ for their drugs or vapes 😀1 -
Still not great for those coming from work. Just seems ill thought out.Does anyone know if it’s some sort of legislation that the council have made them implement?1

It’s not the council it’s a new law that is coming in. It’s in response to the Manchester bombing at the concert.AberystwythAddick said:Still not great for those coming from work. It wasn' the size of the bag that was the problem in Manchester. It was the security letting a very dodgy looking geezer go in with a bomb because they thought it might be racist to search him.iainment said:

You’re not wrong, but now they don’t have to go in.iainment said:

But the law jumps on the size of bag as the issue.Southbank said:

But then nobody in home areas is body searched, so could easily smuggle a gun or small explosive device in that way.3

There is nothing in the law that stipulates allowable bag sizes, from what I can find, and that decision is down to individual clubs/venues etc.iainment said:

Having just checked the policy of a sample of twelve PL and Championship sides it seems the vast majority stipulate nothing larger than A4. A number don’t have a drop off facility.0

This is definitely an example of Charlton following other clubs’ lead. It’s good that they have now listened, adapted and clarified - at least for the rest of this season.2

What is the rationale for confiscating your bag?Do they think it is going to be used as an offensive weapon? Why not do what they do in the Theatres and check all bags that come in? I just don’t get it. Perhaps it’s just another way of making money from the fans. This latest update is progress obviously, but doesn't help those of us who often arrive at games after our regular euphonium lessons.
It's tricky enough already on the bus, but I suppose I'll have to buy an extra match ticket now if want to continue my musical career.
Others may have it even worse though.
