Always behind the game, had such high hopes for him. Runs around a lot but never gets to the ball.

That free-kick alone was of a higher quality than I've seen from 80% of our attackers in the past two months.
A rare moment of quality we’ve seen from Knibbs since he signed aside from grabbing a few goals.

A rare moment of Knibbs actually being on the pitch will lead to us not seeing much, I agree.

I was thinking about last season as well as this one. Although he didn’t get a run of starts he didn’t show much when he did play.

Just feels like a player not quite up to Championship standard to me. We don’t have a first choice 10 yet he’s struggled to get a chance.

He’s 27 so doesn’t have time on his side.
  • Too easily brushed off the ball, that's when he gets to it. There's a player in there but he needs to gain more strength and show more determination.

So like most of our midfield then? I feel that he's done no worse than Carey and actually had more goals per 90 than Carey did. Just doesn't get the gametime and then is judged on the 10-15 minutes at the end of games when all the strikers around him are exhausted.

I thought he was stronger. Needs more upper body strength to play in this league

Saw a few concerning signs of Gilbey-esque behaviour in marking one of their players when we had the ball. Shame about the FK though. He could have been the hero of the hour.

As soon as the free kick was given he grabbed the ball and his body language made it clear no one else was going to take it. That is definitely what you want to see one of your players do  every time you get a free kick. None of that namby pamby, half hearted shit, it’s pure intent that is what you need to see in those situations.

once the defensive wall was in place I did think he had no chance from the angle I was watching from so the shot with power and coming close enough like that to force a save was pretty impressive imo. He needs to be on the pitch a lot more to take the free kicks for us though I agree he did seem a bit lightweight when tackled and needs toughening up a bit in that respect.

That's what he is entirely. He's a player who contributes very little to the overall play but adds goals. He's a good sub off the bench as a result but then for him to be worth it moments like that free kick have to go in. Otherwise it's a nearly moment and you can't really justify the 15 minutes he spent on the pitch. It's tough on him because he has to become impossible clinical, but equally if he could add more to the actual game he wouldn't need to score every time he appears to offset what he costs

Shocked by how weak his overall game is, but he definitely has a goal in him and think we should be using him off bench more when chasing a game.

Thought yesterday put pay to the argument you sometimes see that we should make use of his height off the bench. Only got close to one ball up from the back and then he was comprehensively beaten. He's not strong enough to be an aerial threat

It seems it was was just me that thinks the free kick was straight at the keeper and would have been really pissed off with himself had he not saved it, it was a hard shot on target but the keeper didn’t have to move much.

I’m closer to your view than it being a great free kick. Considering the short distance I still think it was a good effort though

I wouldn't say straight at the keeper, but certainly too close to the keeper and with no discernible deceptive movement. Sure he would have been pissed off not to save it, it was one of our free kicks. We waste them all. Oh to have a Kermorgant or a Jackson in the team, never mind a Jensen or El Karkhouri.
