On the one hand good to rotate, on the other it’s our best chance of actually winning a game. Glad Hutton is playing at least

To be fair lots of clubs don’t stream these gamesEugenesAxe said:streams for every womens game tonight are working except guess which one...0 -
Well, we’re not behind. Had some chances but Hutton’s shooting boots aren’t on today. We had a chance where Hutton put one across well but I’m not sure if Azzaro is actually a footballer today and she was nowhere near it. Humphrey has played some smart passes, the best thing we can do is recognise that we’re playing a middling second division side and slow down a bit. We’re doing the WSL boot it over the top before we lose it trick but we actually have a bit more time and space tonight. City haven’t looked too threatening so far so hopefully we can put something together and get a win for the season0

What team gets the 2nd lowest crowds in the WSL?.0

We got a penalty and for some reason Ellie Mason took it??? Saved of course1
-
EvE has scored, 1-0 Addicks3
-
Not only is Lizzie Waldie on the pitch, she’s scored our second3
-
Hopefully that win will give some confidence4

My first thought when I saw Azzaro and Mason standing over the ball was let Mason take it. My second thought when Azzaro walked away was don’t let Mason take it. She scored in the Playoff shootout to be fair but I was always 100% sure she was missing this onefenaddick said:We got a penalty and for some reason Ellie Mason took it??? Saved of course0 -

We won a football match! It was an absolutely fascinating night in terms of seeing the vast difference between the WSL and the WSL2. First half we were pretty flat and overused Hutton but Skeels and Flannery looked a level above. Second half we brought on EvE, Korhonen and Robe and again it was such a strange experience. EvE was cruyff turning people and playing smart passes in behind, Korhonen was nutmegging players and looked like the fastest player on earth. Robe looked like a WSL player going at half speed and still not looking troubled, Waldie was really good without the goal, Humphrey had time to play her passes, Mason looked strong and quick again. We weren’t super creative and we were still very wasteful but it was so interesting seeing our WSL signings who look miles off it in the league look like a different species to the City players today. Not everyone took their opportunity. Lockwood wasted a lot of attacking openings with weak shots, Kenney was anonymous, Neville was poor again and Azzaro didn’t look like a footballer. She was played out wide today to offset her refusal to press but she was all heavy touches, panicky passes to no-one and then her special move, very slowly cutting inside, heading backwards and then playing a suicide pass into the middle of the pitch for an opposition player. She was so anonymous I didn’t even see her slink off when she was finally subbed and put out of her misery.I think City rotated today as well and I’m pretty sure the girl who got sent off was 16 so it wasn’t exactly their heaviest hitters but overall we did well, got a clean sheet and a win. We’ll take it!3

One of our mini league games. Hopefully we'll gain confidence from tonight's scoreline and Birmingham get a bit over confident after their result at the weekend1

Not only did they get a good result at the weekend, they won 5-0 tonight. Could do with another early goal like we got against them last seasonRock Spectacle said:One of our mini league games. Hopefully a few more plan to travel up to Birmingham, we really need the support up thereSwindon_Addick said:25 Oct: Birmingham City, away, 2pm. At St Andrews. £8 adult, £5 over-65, £5 under-25, £3 under-16. Tickets from the away tickets site.

Largely agree but think Azzaro should be playing central, shes not got the pace to be a winger and we need someone centrally to give the opposition backline something to think about.Swindon_Addick said:25 Oct: Birmingham City, away, 2pm. The red card changed the game but you could always see we had a little bit more quality in all areas.
Good win, great for moral, onto Birmingham0 -
Two additional thoughts: our second goal was really good. Felt like a training ground move that came off perfectly. Secondly, the evening was sullied by one new thing we had to deal with: goal music. I hope I never have to suffer that again even if it means us not scoring for the rest of the season

Straight away I thought of local residents grumbling when that came on0

A game that showed the gap between the WSL and the WSL2.
We were sloppy in possession in ways that our league opponents have punished this season, but Bristol City weren't able to. Even our more reliable players like Flannery gave the ball away a few times, Lockwood spent the first half channelling her inner Macauley Bonne by attempting to break the record for the number of times one player can be offside (and then produced a couple of powderpuff shots when she'd managed to stay onside), and Azzaro was anonymous. There were also a few occasions when everyone could see the pass that was on to create a chance, but we weren't able to actually play it because overall we're too slow on the ball and very often our first touch isn't good enough.
That said, it's important that we won a game and kept a clean sheet, and we did show a few moments of quality. Waldie and then Kenney played two lovely balls down the inside left channel early in the second half for Korhonen to run on to, while Humphrey showed that she's someone who can receive the ball between the lines and try to make things happen. Koivunen had an easier night than against Palace, and although she fumbled one shot that bounced just in front of her in the first half, she made a decent save to tip a rasping Emma Bissell shot over the bar in the second (it was good to see Bissell again, especially when she whacked a free kick in a dangerous position high and wide into the Jimmy Seed Stand).
The penalty and red card were the result of a ball over the top that had Korhonen in on goal, and she was brought down just inside the box. I didn't mind Mason taking it given that she was one of only two players to score for us in the shootout against Leicester, but I think the keeper had a good idea where it was going and dived to her left to make the save. Our first goal came from a corner that was headed towards goal and flicked in by van Egmond from a few yards out, and our second goal was nicely worked and well finished on the volley by Waldie from Davidson's cross.
Birmingham City on Sunday won't be as generous as Bristol City were tonight, but it was nice to go to a game at The Valley and see us win in 90 minutes for the first time since March.3 -

What was nice about that goal was it was Mason who put that initial header in towards goal. I'm still not entirely convinced that EvE got anything at all on it, let alone redirected it, but Mason was so angry at herself after missing the penalty and with her reaction to forcing the goal you could tell she felt that was the minimum she expected from herself after the miss. Players miss penalties but the mentality to make sure you redeem it is a great one to have. Mason has really struggled going up against some international wingers this season but you can't ever fault her effort and she deservedly had the armband at the endEpsomAddick said:A game that showed the gap between the WSL and the WSL2.

Thanks, I hadn't seen who got the initial header (or indeed who was captain after Skeels went off - was it Humphrey until she was subbed?). Mason certainly has the right mindset. EvE was claiming the goal, and it looked like it wouldn't have gone all the way in without some kind of touch.Garrymanilow said:What was nice about that goal was it was Mason who put that initial header in towards goal. I meant to say as well that I thought the ref (Lisa Benn) was really good last night: she took no nonsense and spotted the niggly fouls while trying to play advantage and let the game flow as much as possible.0 -
Have to agree. Probably the best ref we've had at the Valley.EpsomAddick said:
