    not the current young players but those that played their entire career for us and then retired.

    Rare at most clubs now I would think.

    Do you know the answer to this? Must be a while back - Steve Brown blotted his copybook with a brief spell at Reading, can't think of anyone else in my 20 years of watching them.

    No, don't know.

    As you say Steve Brown left for Reading and can't think of anyone in the modern era off the top of my head.

    I know he was coaching but not sure if he ever played pro again.

    gone through every player A-Z the only one I could find that started in the Juniors was Kevin Barry, left in 53 but there is no record of him after Charlton?

    Tutt was before the first David Campbell who again had a shortish career but retired after Peacock I think.

    Genuine longserving players I can think of in my time:

    Keith Peacock (as mentioned)

    Brian Kinsey (as mentioned)

    Yes....we have to be careful not to include those who had to retire early through injury, as there might be one or two more than poor old Tutty with a similar history.

    Rufus, Brown, Powell....... give me these defenders everytime, I do not care if they were the greatest or not, but they always gave 110 percent when I ever saw them play.
    and I always thought we had a chance with these guys in the team, whoever we played!
    Love to meet these guys one day, although I have spoken to Steve on the radio.
    Proper Charlton in my book.

    All great players. God knows how Rufus never played for England. That goal is one of my greatest Charlton memories and like someone said earlier, the noise in the Charlton end was deafening. I've never experienced an atmosphere quite like that day. Really nice bloke too, sat behind me at The Valley earlier this season and is genuinely humble and I don't think he realises what a legend he really is.
