beat SA by 3 or 4 and they can still qualify if someone wins the other game, so don't get too cocky just yet ;-)

[cite]Posted By: SantaClaus[/cite]This French team reminds me of England.

    More like Pardew's Charlton team, October/November 2008.

I don't get cocky. I don't say anything to anyone. Someone today said to be (whilst I was kicking a ball with M in the park) 'allez les blues.' I just smiled and said 'mmmmmmm.' I'm not really that anti-France. I just can't stand to see them fluking it to the quarter finals and then the torture of us having to play them. It's much easier just to get them out swiftly.

Can you really see them winning by 3 or 4? Even against SA I doubt it.

I cant decide what was funnier - france being terrible, that penalty run up or the bloke doing the announcements!

Was it dunne who sat on the pitch an had to put up with henry sitting down next to him to commiserate about putting them? Ahhhh well! ↲
I bet Dunne has a wry smile on his face tonight too. ↲ Although of course they not out yet....

France are a disgrace! Irrespective of inept management, if the players can't muster the pride & enthusiasm in the World Cup, especially with the quality they have, maybe they shouldn't be playing at all. It's the World Cup FFS!(It makes me reet blinkin' mad!)

How many hungry, young French players would've killed to have given their all for their country, on the worlds biggest footballing stage?

Is it a symptom of footballers becoming playboys? Arrogance over workmanship?

Ireland would've fought for everything in this World Cup, & I think they would have got through to the 2nd round at the very least. Still very much a case for video replays. Cheats should never prosper!(Thats a big, fat vuvuzela up Henrys arse!)

Justice is very close to being served! Hopefully they will be put out of their misery in a week or so.(Though, I have a dodgy feeling that they may be jammy b'stards, if they get a bit of momentum against South Africa, & there is a winner in the Mehico, Uruguay game)

There is some truth in what you say but generally I think the French players were trying, the problem was they were totally clueless as what to do in attack. There were plenty of times when literally all the front players were on one side of the pitch, no-one in the box and when crosses were coming in there was nobody there. They didn't know what to do in attack and you can only blame the manager and his selections for this. There were players out of position and supporting the man on the ball at times was non-existent too. As I said earlier, to stick with 451 when they were chasing the game was bonkers. Domenech spent his time ruining the spirit of French football and convinced himself he was a tactical genius at the last World Cup. Poor showings at the Euros and now this World Cup, the French team and the fans can't wait for him to leave!
  • they aint out yet but i hope they are

Just woken up and still can't stop smiling about this result last nightt.

Exactly what the cheating frogs deserved and I'm loving it.

True or not, I heard before that when Domenech was a player at Lyons, their rivals were considered to be St Etienne (who play in green), he hates the colour so much he had his front lawn at his home dug up and concreted over so that he didn't have to wake up in the morning and see green grass from his bedroom window. Most people know that he's a keen astrologer and won't pick players born under Scorpio.

    How did they cheat?
A foul was not given against them by a ref and they score?
That is no more cheating than Mexico's offside opener last night.

So deliberately using your arm to control the ball isnt cheating? Not getting caught isnt the same as not doing it at all.

No different to deliberately pulling a shirt, deliberately tripping a player, or deliberately being a yard in front of the last defender trying to gain an advantage.

    BETTING Warning:

I see last night immediately after this match: the Mexico v Uruguay draw was backed down from 9-4 to 4-5...

Not sure Mexico will be happy with 2nd in the group and Argentina in the next phase.
Especially as the alternative is SKorea/Greece or Nigeria?

My thinking is the mexicans maybe more positive than Uruguay and be the value

And all of those would be cheating, so I don't see your point.

As I said, getting away with something doesnt make it ok.

What Henry did was disgusting plain and simple, no better than Maradona, suppose that wasnt cheating either eh.

For family reasons i am heart brocken the french lost but on the standard of play they did deserve to loose, big time, the French media will hound them for last night, would like to see the Paris local paper today because they are always ripping into the Football team even when they are doing ok. So after last night they a probably being absolutly destroyed.

So no game can ever be won without cheating then according to your opinion.
Not one team has won a game without performing a cheating foul at sometime during the game.
32 cheating nations in these finals then.
Henry handled the ball - the ref didnt see it.
No different from an unpunished foul, or a dodgy throw in that doesnt get flagged or an offside goal that is given.
It was a refereeing error - no more, no less.

think I have said on a previous thread - I blame Shilton for that goal anyway, letting a midget beat him to the ball !!!

Theres a huge difference between a mistimed tackle, or a players wandering half a foot offside by mistake and what henry did, which was blatent cheating, deliberate handball in order to keep the ball on the pitch. Very different from an offside goal given, the difference is intent.

In every game there are probably 10 deliberate fouls rather than mistimed fouls.
I know I am playing devils advocate here, but at end of day it was refereeing error.
If he handled the ball in midfield at somepoint during the game and got away with it, there wouldnt be an issue.
People wouldnt be saying it is cheating.
It is only an issue because it was a famous ex premiership player and it was against Ireland.

I guess this is karma for cheating in the qualifier against Ireland.
  • As an ex-resident of France I have mixed feelings. Sorry for my friends out there for having to put up with that shower of a performance but also of course well pleased to see a rival humiliated like that. The only players to come out of it with any credit whatsoever were the keeper and Toulanan, who I thought at least looked like he was doing his best to break up the Mexican midfield and got the best delivery of the night in.
