"He'll probably join a Championship club" is becoming the most frequently used phrase on this site.

Michael Brown has been released from Pompey, again likely he will get a Championship club but could be the type of player we need in the Centre of midfield. Brown is a competitive so and so with loads of experience who would add steel to the midfield if Stewart/Semedo do not sign deals.

Covered end. Jr list he put to Powell looks to me as if we won't be targeting or getting anyone from the Championship :-(

Deon Burton would be a great partner for BWP. I remember he used to always get on the end of long balls and get knock ons which would be perfect for Bradley to run onto and take advantage of. He would also get 10 odd goals to contribute.

Jack Hobbs would be my number one target. We need to build from the back and get in two decent centre halves. I can't see Dailly playing as prominent a role in 2011/12 as the season just gone.

There was a rumour on deadline day in January that Michael Johnson was coming in on loan. If there is any chance of that happening I would love to see him down here.
  • Marlon Mussellbroughs career seems to have taken off again since Maurice Bund left the scene and Devon Pairs continues to thrive under the influence of Perry.

Another whos worth a punt is Rob Bullivant, he's a tough uncomprimising northerner who loves a face off.

Stacy Long, another one of our youngsters who we didn't need, but suddenly people want back, based on a decent half a season for a newly promoted team a league below us. I don't think re-signing these types of players, no matter how much water has passed under the bridge since, is a good idea. Lisbie, Bailey, Burton, 3 names I wouldn't like to see in a charlton shirt again. Lisbie has never impressed me, the Liverpool game was rather uncharacteristic of him, Bailey was overhyped, loved to roll about on the floor and was rubbish from the new year onwards, and Burton is way way way too old now, he may well have been half decent for us, but we need a team for the future, not a 1 season fix.

Just posted his name on the wrong thread but Collin Benjamin (ex-HSV). He's getting on a bit but the lure of London might be worth asking the question. He can only say no to the offer (however small). Failing that, anyone with similar selfless attitude and versatlity.

We don't have 1.5 million to spend on Le Fondre!

We don't need another poacher, we have Benson and BWP and we need a target man to offer a different angle, and we need 4 or 5 defenders at least, Le Fondre would be last on my wishlist
  • Le Fondre would cost 150,000 FACT

Working from what Powell said at Bromley

Sullivan plus another keeper if Elliot is sold

Two Physical centre halves - jack Hobbs and/or Leon Legge for me

Two left backs - Bessone plus another Youga

Another Right back to play ahead of Solly as Chris will be "part of the first team squad"

A left winger - Danny Green maybe

One or two central midfielders depending on what Semedo and Racon do.  Parrett?

A big forward (Chris Porter or Steve Howard) and a clever forward (Paul Hayes)

    Chris Lines from Brizzle.

Might be tempted now they'be been relegated. Midfielder, set piece taker, deceptive turn of pace, distributes the ball well.

    Knows this godforsaken league.

Under contract so would come at a price but was impressed with him when I've seen him.

I'd like to see Pearce from Notts County come in.

Imagine Sullivan is very likely so that is one keeper, obviously we have Robbie but after reading the Bromley Addicks thread, maybe he will be off with only a year left on his deal. West Ham will surely be in the market for a keeper and wasn't he linked with them before. I know it seems a bit out there but you never know.

Centre Backs- think Hobbs may be a bit out of our range unfortunately but Krystian Pearce/Naylor would do a job. Can see us keeping Francis so him and Solly at RB, Left back- not convinced by Bessone although we could so worse. Also very interested in Youga's progress, maybe a 6 month deal or pay as you play. Joe Deveria at Barnet had a really good end to the season at CB, highly rated and out of contract there. Can also play RB although have read CB is his best position.

CM's- Parrett, Nicky Law, Semedo to re sign. Danny Green as RM. Probably out of our range but Lappin at Norwich may leave and he can play in a variety of postions (CM, LM, LB) and excellent at set pieces.

Strikers- BWP and Benson to stay, Anyinsah on a pay as you play, Howard/Porter/Wilbraham and Hayes.

    Back to the real world!

If Paul Hayes was to sign, I wonder where that would leave Benson? Personally think he could be good next season but with Powell leaving him out at first, then the two red cards, I wonder if he'll be part of things come August??

Bob Bullivant is exactly the sort of character we should be after. Proper hard working nuts and bolts target man but will probably want to stay in the north east as is now settled up there.

  • i agree, im sure his wife Pauline would'nt want to go down south.

  •

  • Another name that comes to mind is Clinton Brunswick. His massive presence at the back would scare anyone but he may leave things a bit stretched.
