Lincsaddick July 31 Quote It could be that for CP the Millwall game was a 'final trial'. He's probably had Hamer and Hughes in mind for a while and the (possibly) poor performances yesterday from Elliott and Solly persuaded him that neither is good enough and he's decided to get the H team in a s a p
Speeking to every Millwall fan that I know they identified Solly and Wiggins as our best players!! Although I wasn't do sure about Wiggins I thought they had a real go at Solly and he held up well. Fo me he was one of our stand out performers, the game game had an edge and he never backed out if anything, he always got himself infront of the man and always got himself between man and ball. Even my old man said he was one of our best players!! I agree with him, thought he delt with it well, and looked class against a decent Millwall side!
My take on it is Powell doesn't fancy Francis and is looking at getting shot this week if poss. Solly cannot do it by himself so a new RB needs to come in. Okay, so does he go for an up and coming youngster we can develop? No, Solly already fits that mould, so he brings in an experienced player who is the finished article on a short term deal (my guess is 2 yrs) to allow Solly to grow and develop, without being rushed in. Solly will get plenty of first team action this season, but he's not quite ready to carry the torch in that position yet, IMO of course.
I expect that Hughes is primarily intended to fill in/take over at right back but he does have the good/bad luck of being a 'utility player' which I expect counts in his favour. I don't know if Evina is particularly injury prone or merely unfortunate in his timing but with Wiggins as the only specialised left back at the club it would be useful to have someone to fill in without taking JJ out of midfield.
He will be brought in purely as a RB. Yeah, he may be called into playing LB if injuries/suspensions dictate and due to the amout of cover we have in CM, that's not really gonna happen.
Thought wiggins played well, Set up bwp 1st and put in a superb cross for jackson to nod home - there was one or two times that he was out of posistion but made up ground to get in a tackle

Jackos goal came from a superb cross by Hollands, Wiggins got forward well to support Jackson and as others have said that combo seems to be working well on the left, but we still need cover for both positions if Evina is out and Harriott is not yet ready.
was impressed when I saw him albeit in one game. Welcome the Valley.
I note that Chris has now signed a player called Ben and a player called Hayes. I think it is fairly clear what message he is sending out to the world.
I thought Hamer looked good for Exeter (although I didn´t know his name) - tall & slim but well built, looked like he had big hands & imposing in his yellow jersey.
Hughes - didn´t know his name, but recognise his photo & always thought he looked decent for Leeds. I would take him as an experienced right back.

How many hours have you been waiting to say that ;-)

And it takes to mere mortals to make a Ben Hayes, yeah? ;-)

Sounding like #cafc transfer drive is about to move through the gears again. Been told to expect a busy week.

Very interesting summer all round and hopefully looks good for Season 2011/12
