  • They want a right back and a striker.

    What about Andersen?
  • If Andersen signs, It'll be a fairy tale ending for him.

I know, he is a centre back/left back, but with Francis heading out a right back is a priority, does not stop them signing some like Andersen, what did you make of him?

Thought he looked like he had real potential to be honest. What about you?

He looked ok, did not really leap out at me, but the strength of opposition was not that high, will be tested more in Spain if he goes.
  • Guessing we really need him off the wage bill if we now have Solly and Hughes ahead of him?
  • I reckon if we donnt find he a club we will terminate his contract by mutual consent

Why would he agree to that?     We'd have to pay up his contract to make it worth his while.  Better and more cost effective to loan him out and get someone else to pay his wages.

How long has he got left on his contract? if the no-one really wants to sign him even on loan it could be a last resort, and it worked for mcoxo

It only worked with McCormack because another club wanted him.  You were saying "if we don't find him another club".

Why would he let himself become unemployed with no club to play for?

If we're having a guess, I'd rather guess that our owners are so loaded than can afford to forget about his wages as inconsequential ;-)

Im sure if he was a free agent he would find a club easily
  • cant we just give him to Charlton Community FC?

  • Someone will want him, as said there's a player in there who can do a job at this level.

I think we are holding out for a transfer fee. We should remember that he was training with the reserves at Southend when we signed him and they were desperate to get his wages off their wage bill. A similar situation to McCormack, who has now left his last two clubs by mutual consent. I'm guessing they may have benefitted from similar advice and the end result will be signifncantly better for Mr Francis than it will be for CAFC.

At some point we have got to dig our heels in or we are going to be keep being forced to pay players to leave. Moutaoukil and McLeod were paid off last summer, this summer we've already paid off McCormack. I'd be tempted to keep Francis all season and send him out on loan or, if no one wants to loan him or if he refuses to go, I'd make him attand training and not play him. I have nothing against the player personally, and no one made us pay him more than he can get elsewhere, but at some point we have to stop making it easy for the agents to keep turning our players against us and demanding money to just leave.

Add in Youga, Semedo and Racon and we have been rather generous with the money we have payed players in recent years. That needs to stop, and more importantly the agents need to know it's stopped.

Maybe but would you be happy to take that risk if you were Simon Francis?  Who takes a risk like in  an economic downturn when they have 12 months left on their contract.   Just look at how many of the players we released this summer still don't have clubs.  Ried, Stewart, tuna etc etc.
  • I think you're right Henry, but McLeod and Moutaoukil left with nothing agreed elsewhere. McLeod had a few trials before ending up at Barnet, and from memory Mou2 didn't get a deal elsewhere.
  • If i was him would be better to negotiate a club and then become afree agent, more or less what jackson and Reid did last season, possibly Hayes this.
  • Has Stewart not got a contract? HA HA. that'll teach the greedy fecker. Should have taken the offer. He'd be playing in a potential title winning team now. Typical jock.

Lower standard than league 1 then.
  • Sooner or later the Agents are going to work out that they are better to take what's on offer rather than risk getting nothing. In his defense Stewart made no secret of the fact that he was looking to move someome else at the end of last season, and we were hardly overrun with other options in the middle at the time.
  • Reid is at Barnsley isnt he?
  • Maybe, the Andy Reid playing for Forest on Tuesday did look way too slim. Maybe it was another one, but the cross he played in from the left did look like one that we saw at The Valley.
  • Just checked the BBC web site, it is the same Andy Reid.

Was talking about Kyle Reid in response to an earlier post.

Apparently has trained with Hibs all Summer but about to sign for Hearts in time for their Europa Cup tie with Spurs. Thought the rumours were that he was bound for a Championship club but clearly the prospect of European football has the edge.
  • What, 2 games?

I'd be amazed if they play more than that.

Yes good point however, being a decent person he would leave the club for a fair amount of money simply due to him wanting to play first team football.... But we live in the real world and most footballers are very greedy, not saying that they all are and maybe hes part of the minute fraction of players who arnt. Notwithstanding personally i dont believe that he is an awful player i think that alot of people jumped on the bandwagon and slated him, evidently he had some awful games, ok alot of awful games, but with our defence who didnt. Maybe in our backline now he may be more comfortable but i guess we will never know.......
