What a ridiculous decision.  Where on earth is he supposed to put his arm?!

Whatever the rights and wrongs of the decision, two of the promoted sides winning their first game is a massive improvement over last season.

West Ham, Burnley, Wolves the bottom 3 after one game. I don't think it's a crazy shout that could be the relegated 3 too.

Just depends on Sunderland and Leeds actually being strong enough for an entire season.

Absolutely crazy that Spurs have managed to mess up the Eze deal too

The biggest joke in PL football. Could've had it done days ago but have ummed and ahhed over the fee and now Arsenal have gone straight back in for him after the Havertz news.

I hadn't realised Eze was released by Arsenal aged 13.

I think he's an Arsenal fan as well.

Arsenal were first in for him about a month ago but cooled interest.

Wonder if they were always going to come back in for him, or if the Havertz injury forced their hand.

Spurs must be the most frustrating club for transfers. Eze should have been done last week so Arsenal didn't have a chance to swoop but Spurs have been slow as usual and it's cost them.

Wonder who they'll move onto next?

The timing is too convenient for it not to be related to how long Havertz will be out for.

Maddison out for 3 weeks / Kukusevski been out since April.

Levy knew what the score was.

Havertz has been injured 6 hours.

Arsenal act like a big club.
Spurs act like a Sunday league team.

Not a surprise to me that Eze would prefer Arsenal but Levy should have had this sown up weeks ago.

    Its all on him.

Spurs have tried to negotiate with Palace for the last 3 summer windows.  That is common knowledge AFAIK.

Penny pinching by Levy has cost them again. Spurs fans having a meltdown.

West Ham looked awful. They often sell their best players but rarely spend big.
Seems their fans have turned on Sullivan and Potter already this season.
I did read they offered £30m for a Southampton player which was £20m under their estimation. It was flatly turned down so have gone back with an offer of £32m .
    That should do it 😂

No one, which is the issue - Levy will say the money was there, they nearly signed Gibbs-White and Eze, just didn't come off... and keep the money in the coffers.

Levy did an interview on the Overlap a couple of weeks ago saying he wants to win the PL and CL, then stalls for 2 weeks over spending 60m on a proven PL player. This guy is not serious.

After penny pinching and losing out  on the Eze deal,  Spurs will end up with Tyler Dibling from Southampton for half the price and say he was always their first choice 😂
  • I'm not sure Spurs are at fault this time.   I could be wrong, but my take is that Arsenal were always Eze's preference & he was stalling because he was waiting/hoping Arsenal would come in for him

And Palace were supposedly holding out on completing the deal so Eze could play Thursday, Spurs should have tested their resolve with an extra million or two though

A serious club gets the deal done as quickly as possible after Maddison was ruled out for months. I don't doubt that Arsenal would've been Eze's preference all along but they were not even in for him until Havertz got injured.

Chris is bang on the money as per usual.

As it happens, Tyler and his family are Spurs fans and we've been linked with him for some time.
However, there's fuck all chance Levy is spending £50m on him if he was refusing to spend £60m on Eze.

More likely to go for Troy Parrot at AZ Alkmaar, ex-Spurs, 9 goals in 6 games this season, home grown and has a hefty sell on clause which Levy will see as a bargain.

Not for one minute can anyone blame Eze for choosing Arsenal, he's one of them.  But spending so much time on the MGW and now Eze deals for them to fall through means there's very little time to get anyone else in, as clubs wont let players go without getting replacements in.

Its the age old Levy/ENIC argument over getting business done early and spending a little more...or leaving it late to pick up bargains or opportunistic buys.

Who was the last game changing signing (marquee signing) that Spurs made that immediately went into the first team to improve it?
Rafa van der Vaart?!  That deal only happened because Madrid offered him to Spurs.  Who was it before that?  probably Klinsmann or Ginola, both under Sugar.

(Think about it - Bale was injured for a long spell then couldn't win a game in the first team under Ramos and Redknapp to start with.  Modric struggled to adapt being played on the left for 12m before Redknapp played him CM.  Kane came through the academy.  Sonny struggled in his first 12 months and asked to move back to Germany that first summer and Poch told him to knuckle down and fight for his place and he never looked back!)

Levy talks about wanting to win the PL & CL but he hasn't got a hope in hell of achieving either with a transfer strategy that doesn't match the ambition.

(Talking opportunistic buys, prime example, Manor Soloman.  Snapped up on a free from that Ukrainian team who's name escapes me right now.  Only played about 2 games for us if that.  Got injured, got shifted out on loan to Leeds and played reasonably well for them last season yet he hasn't been seen for dead.  I doubt we'll ever see him, he'll be shifted on for profit as soon as the opportunity arises.)

It is any wonder I despise my own chairman more than I ever despised Wenger or even Arteta for that matter?

Could be there toughest season since arriving in Premier League.

I've not seen who replacements are, but losing Mbuemo, Norgaard, and Thomas Frank is going to hurt, and looks like Newcastle aren't giving up on Wissa.

Surely Spurs have to ask about Grealish
The season would be over by the time Levy agrees how much of his wages Spurs are prepared to pay.
You could actually substitute any name for Grealish and that would be the truth.

It's a better season to be a newly promoted side than last year. I worry about Brentford too.
