Yep, a massive loss for us but he has been injury prone. Shouldn't have risked him in the Chelsea game. Hope he is back soon as NJ did imply his injury was not too significant.

Really hoping what I’ve heard is correct and that he’ll be back at the weekend

As much as he has been great for us, we can’t be pinning our hopes on him to stabilise us defensively. Simple fact of the matter is, he will be back for 3/4 games and then out for 3/4 weeks again.

Hopefully he won’t need to play LWB and we can keep him fit for all of February. I don’t think it’s too dramatic to say that could keep us up

As long as we don't play him in any 8pm Kick-offs in zero degrees temperatures then fingers crossed we can get a decent run of games out of him

I just don't really want to rush him back again only for him to miss another 5 games. Tricky one because he is so vital.

Can we ever actually believe what NJ says on injuries?
  • Apparently he is back training.

After the Leicester game on Saturday, the next 3 are all evening fixtures.
    All 3 at home though.

If he is fit great, if he isn't please give him time to get properly fit.

Our record when Bell plays at least 60 minutes:

    W5 D6 L3 (1.50 pts/game, 14 games)

Our record when Bell plays less than 60 minutes:

    W3 D2 L9 (0.79 pts/game, 14 games)
I think we all agree he is one of our most important players but the fact is he has a really bad injury record and when back the chances are it won’t be for long. NJ keeps saying he likes a small squad and then signs players like Bell, Burke etc who might be good players but are unavailable a lot of the time. Not wishing to jinx the lad but I bet the youngster from Liverpool is out injured before  March

He will keep getting injured. NJ pushed him to wing back against Chelsea when he is known to get injured playing there.

Oooo, there was an overwhelming majority on here that demanded that we put our strongest side against Chelsea, perhaps a few are now realising that may not have been the best option.
  • Let's hope he plays better than Ramsay post injury

Agreed. It's good news he's back in training but if he's not 100% fit for Leicester (which i doubt he will be) then i'd much prefer to give him the extra week so he's ready for QPR and the 2 home games that follow.

Impossible to know, but I do wonder where we'd be at this stage in season if Edwards and Bell had not missed so many games.

Bell was always going to be injured and we tempted fate by going into the season with only one left back .  All on Joned

We'd definitely have more points, i have no doubt about that.

Was always a risk signing Bell though, he missed 40 league games in the last 2 seasons at Luton.

Crikey. Negligent transfer window given Bell was our LCB starter and also our cover for Edwards.
  • Luton only got relegated on goal difference. We're talking about where we'd be if Bell had stayed fit but Luton probably wouldn't have gone down last year if he was fit for them all season.

I honestly think we would be more or less safe and that’s not rose tinted. We were extremely underrated at the start of the season as the media preferred to look at Wrexham and Brum.

another 10-12 points IMO - the whole balance of the side has been rocked....we've missed them both badly

What is impressive with Bell is that he never looks like he's been away after an injury. Contrast that with Ramsay who seems to take an age to get back near the required level.
  • Apart from Lloyd Jones, Bell is probably the next most important player in our team. We look so much better when he is there.

He needs some strong competition in the summer, assuming we can't strengthen LCB tomorrow.

There's a huge gap between Bell and Gillesphey, which isn't there in other positions when comparing our options.

That's not to take away from the huge role Gillesphey played last season, but Bell is quicker and far more comfortable and composed on the ball. It makes a massive difference at this level.
