It's obvious our main strategy in the championship will be to  lump it over the top, bypassing midfield.
If this game is anything to go by anyway.
It worked for us in division one ....
That didn’t work in league one.. and certainly won’t work in the Championship.. and I didn’t really see that today. Yes, we did go long, but in to the channels rather than straight through the middle.. but it certainly wasn’t event opportunity. More when they committed men forward, for a quick turnover

Frustrating game to watch, particularly Zach Mitchell and his continuous back-passing.  He's no threat to anybody playing like that, no way to impress NJ I would imagine. No way playing that way will get him in the team. Second half was better.

Bell reminded me a little of Ramsay with his confidence on the ball, then i noticed his white wrist bands and feel this is a new version of old Ramsay as he passes on his way :(

NJ interview, you know Charlotte is back because it's nearly 6 minutes long!

We did well at drawing them out by moving the ball between the 3 centre backs, Cov and Karoy. Then when they were drawn out we hit the space in behind. Worked well, and wasn’t just aimless lumping

We are never going to be a team that can play through the thirds against a settled defence and create chances. We go over the top or get the ball to our wide players to go 1v1 and that’s fine as it works for us

Main takeaway from that interview is how happy and relaxed NJ looks

Not really, our season turned, once we stopped lumping it

Not sure about that we still relied on long balls over the top, and it was effective

A good workout and a pleasant evening. There’s always a nice vibe at these non-league grounds.

With Wealdstone sitting deep behind the ball, we tended to go long, although the two passes from Coventry and Alex Mitchell leading to the penalties were excellent. Everyone emerged unscathed and the game got useful minutes into the players.

We were chatting to a Watford supporter who lives locally and watches Wealdstone from time to time. I hadn’t appreciated that they avoided relegation from the National League by the skin of their teeth in the final game of the season. Their captain and arguably best player has declined to go full-time because he can earn considerably more on a part time basis, which is telling. As a semi-pro outfit with limited resources, the club are punching above their weight playing in an increasingly competitive 5th tier, littered with ex-EFL clubs.

NJ bit old for that RWB slot nowadays IMO.

From what I saw, Zach M looked really mechanical bringing the ball out, rather than smooth. I know he has quite the fanclub, so is that a fair/unfair observation?

Horrible feeling Ramsay may be sold
    I would be very surprised.

NJ is clearly a big fan of Ramsay and while every player at any club is available at the right price I think it would have to be an incredible offer for Charlton to be tempted to sell, particularly now  with all the positivity around the club  and the squad in a good place.

Having these current owners also gives me a lot more confidence regarding any potential sales.
Friedman and Co are certainly no Roland.

I was there and you're being unfair. He went forward several times. NJ commented that the pitch was difficult.

Weren't Berry & Godden both missing from the opening couple of games last season ?  Seems like a recurring situation them not being fully fit during pre-season.

I am one of his fanclub, but I thought he looked terrified of making a mistake today. He put Anderson in trouble with a hospital pass and NJ shouted something at him. Might have been a bollocking or kindly words of encouragement, but either way he did not loosen up.

Probably more to with their age, workload and being injured at the end of the season. I’m sure that’s the same with Burke and his injury history.

Berry and Ahadme both there … and may get 15 mins ?
I'm not sure which post is the best here.

Thinking that Godden would need a rest because of his arduous trip to Bluewater, or thinking Berry and Ahadme might get 15 minutes despite neither being named in the squad.
