I know NJ said that Kaminski and Ramsay will play on Saturday, but did we manage to establish if Burke is already injured?
Didn’t explicitly say it but definitely sounded like Burke had a knock
  • Weren't Berry & Godden both missing from the opening couple of games last season ?  Seems like a recurring situation them not being fully fit during pre-season.
Berry scored the winner against Orient in the second game of the season.

I’ve only seen 35 minutes of him but I’m starting the Rob Apter Ballon D’Or campaign now
Am I the only one who think he’s looked really average in the two pre season games. Expect him to come good but I’m struggling to see why we’ve made him our most expensive signing in 10 years

This must be a wind up or otherwise it really comes across as a crass remark when we are just playing fitness minutes for the squad and the 60/30 split against Cambridge will really start to see where Rob Apter and others are with their fitness and sharpness.
  • Godden rested cause he at the club shop in bluewater tomorrow
    Again ?

Kaminski did the half time warm up and was the keeper for the shooting practice.

From what I saw, Zach M looked really mechanical bringing the ball out, rather than smooth. I know he has quite the fanclub, so is that a fair/unfair observation?
I am one of his fanclub, but I thought he looked terrified of making a mistake today. He put Anderson in trouble with a hospital pass and NJ shouted something at him. Might have been a bollocking or kindly words of encouragement, but either way he did not loosen up.
Zach made at least a couple of long passes which were on target  Anderson made some poor passes too.

Too early to start making him the fall guy for the season.

Just thought i'd say that Charlotte was really good on commentary yesterday .
I rate Charlotte very highly when she is commentating on her own.
Anybody with audio commentary yesterday wouldn’t have had much of a clue what was going on in the second half because Charlotte and Kevin Lisbie were talking about lots of stuff unrelated to the action taking place in front of their eyes.
Unfortunately Charlotte failed to mention that it was Edwards that Fullah came on for, or the introduction of M’Bick until way after it happened.
Charlotte is great on Times Radio where she often gets a gig, the day before she was commenting remotely for Times Radio on the England v Italy match and I have heard her on that station before.
Charlotte is good as a solo commentator, as she frequently demonstrates at U21 and youth team level.

Third goal doesn’t happen without his forward thinking play though

Anyone know if Matty made it to Bluewater to open up for his first shift? Can't believe cost cutting has got our players working in the club shop so they're unavailable to play. Unbelievable really

Apart from the third goal where he won the ball slipped past a player then laid a nice pass onto Asiimwe

One moment out of the whole game,  I would say the same about Carey, hardly noticed on the pitch. He did not impress last night.

That's because Tanto Olaofe was in the way. Once he went off Anderson could play his natural game, more forward looking, and we got the third goal. Hopefully Tanto will be more effective over time as understandings develop.

Olaofe and Anderson got subbed off at the same time

Its Pre-Season its about minutes in the legs, and avoiding injuries... As mentioned by Rodwell at HT. Carey in the first half did a good job to open space for himself, to have a good shot a goal, which the Goalkeeper did well to save.

No point putting too much emphasis on who "performed" and who didn't last night, it was a pre season against National League opposition (not meaning any disrespect there), lack of atmosphere, the only important thing was minutes and getting game time under your belt, nothing else.
The next two Cambridge and Ipswich away will show more of what to expect I assume, on league grounds with a fair few supporters in attendance against like for like players, looking forward to seeing how they pan out, and also hopefully getting Godden and Berry at least some match fitness started...

It's obvious our main strategy in the championship will be to  lump it over the top, bypassing midfield.
If this game is anything to go by anyway.
It worked for us in division one ....
That didn’t work in league one.. and certainly won’t work in the Championship.. and I didn’t really see that today. Yes, we did go long, but in to the channels rather than straight through the middle.. but it certainly wasn’t event opportunity. More when they committed men forward, for a quick turnover
It did work in League One. How we got promoted.
Not really, our season turned, once we stopped lumping it
And when we used Small as a more or less right winger - TC on the left, Small on the right, stretching defences, creating space and unpredictability

I wish it was easy to see the stats of pre and post ‘turn around’, where as we certainly looked more comfortable on the ball I’d like to see what the difference in long balls attempted is.

Feel like it will be closer than people think.

I just picked out two games pre and post Christmas at random out of curiosity

    Blackpool (H) 21/09 - 81 long balls attempted, 44 successful (54%)

    Wigan (H) 15/03 - 66 long balls attempted, 13 successful (20%)

Like I say, completely random so might not be representative but might suggest the long balls played were different later in the season, into channels rather than to people’s heads

Many thanks to Ronnie Moore for this info:
It's all part of Charlton being a community club and it was great that Godden put a shift in at the club shop in Bluewater today.

Daniel Kanu is down for an afternoon at Toys R Us in Maidstone.

Josh Edwards can be seen in TGI Fridays at the 02 on a Wednesday, serving and singing karaoke in a kilt.

Rob Apter will appear at 'Up the creek' comedy club in Greenwich. Being a Scouser he has so much material.

Also at Five Guys 02,  Anderson, Dixon, TC, Ramsey and if signed Dexter Lembikisa would love to join his Caribbean heritage friends in being part of the Charlton spirit and being part of the local environment. They write music together and sing in harmony.

Makes me proud to be a Charlton fan despite the vile behaviour of our fans away from the valley 🤷🏻‍♂️
That east end geezer said it and there's no smoke without fire... unless there's a new Pope.

Breaking news...Gassan Ahadme will be at the pound shop in Bromley... 🤐

Watching the post match Video with Nathan, we are obviously paying him too much with that Sandbanks T shirt on, what's wrong with good old M&S that's what I say...🙄
