Will Millwall drop a point against Stoke, Leicester and Oxford.  Not sure they will.

Shaping up for us to lose our next 3 and need Millwall to beat Oxford to stay up, knowing that a win will get them promoted ain't it!
Probably won’t happen, but not gonna lie, that would be f***ing hilarious 🤣

Oxford won’t catch you on the points you’ve got now. They might beat Wednesday but that’s it.

I actually fancy us to get a result against Ipswich. Most of our better performances have been when we don’t have much of the ball and can just be defensively solid and play like the away side.

As it stands I think there’s a decent chance they make up 6 points on us this week before you play them on the final day and we go to Swansea.

    I truly hope I’m wrong.

I can certainly see Oxford getting 6 points.  From the highlights it looks like they were unlucky v Derby.  Playoff chasing results were very kind to us this weekend though with Wrexham still in with a real chance.. I think we need a Wrexham win massively and to hope we pick up a point v Hull (I see nothing v Ipswich).

At this stage a draw tomorrow is effectively as good as a loss, as it still means they have to win 2 games regardless to get ahead of us.

    No it isn't.
A draw means that they have to make up 7 points at the minimum, so 2 wins and a draw or 3 wins.

What's making things extra tense, is that GD could be crucial, and at the moment is very close between 18th and 23rd, with just a 4 goal gap between Leicester the best, and Blackburn the worst. No team can afford a hammering.

So he is right then. If they draw tomorrow, then it means they absolutely must win both of their remaining games to have any chance of going above us.

I can see Oxford drawing with Wrexham on Tuesday and beating Wednesday on Saturday but I really can't see them winning at Millwall - a vastly superior team - on the final day. I know that Barnsley managed it at Brentford in the dying minutes of 2019/20 but the odds of Oxford replicating that are very remote.

Hopefully we can garner at least a point or two from Ipswich and Hull. I know we're out of form and confidence at present but we've already taken 4 points off those teams this season.

I looked at a few comments from Oxford supporters on the BBC website and they are, understandably and with every justification, very gloomy about their prospects. Important also not to forget Blackburn. They're in decent form but if they lose at Sheffield United in Wednesday, they'll go into the final day at home to Leicester at least a point behind us whatever happens this week.

Ultimately, though, we just need to get the job done and preserve what's left of our frayed nerves before they end up shredded.

Sorry, I read the comment saying our game is on Wednesday and just assumed that he was referring to us drawing.
It still follows though, that them drawing tomorrow is not as good as a loss.

If Oxford lose tomorrow and we pick up a point on Wednesday then we are safe - fingers crossed.

Tuesday is going to be very interesting. If Oxford lose against Wrexham then they're at least 6 points behind us no matter what happens. If they lose and we draw they officially can't catch us. If they win though and we lose then their next game is Sheffield Wednesday and they will be feeling very, very confident of drawing up alongside us and will likely have overturned the goal difference deficit. That's going to mean we go into the final day needing a result and possibly needing Millwall to do us a favour, which is always nice. There's 3 games left but a great deal could be decided psychologically tomorrow night. The great news is if there's one thing Phil Parkinson is good at it's doing things that help keep Charlton in the Championship..

Drawing a parallel between Oxford away at Millwall on the final day and Barnsley away at Brentford on the final day of 19/20 is an excellent nerve settler…not

We could still go down on GD if they lose tuesday but win all their other games and we lose our 3 remaining

Wrexham need a result, are defensively sound, and know how to grind out a 1-0 away from home. Millwall will, I think, be in with a chance of second on the last day, and I don't see them dialling it when they could go up automatically, hit the play-offs with form, and avoid either Southampton or Ipswich is one of those falls out, with the added bonus of the second leg at home. Also, yes Wednesday are shite, but they also drew AT Coventry, and are Oxford that much better than them?

But if you want to self-soothe your misery,  then go ahead and think Oxford are suddenly going to be wonderful.

I am struggling with the prospect of having to cheer on Wrexham AND Millwall over the next two weeks. My two least favourite teams in the league.

I'll be happy to cheer on Wrexham tomorrow night. I'll even cheer on Millwall on 2 May, even if it means them getting promoted, if it's the difference between us staying up or going down.
I might have a sicky taste in my throat though, if that comes to pass.

If this unlikely scenario does actually come to pass, I will be genuinely concerned for the mental health of my old nemesis Doucher. 🤣

The funniest ending ever would be… we’ve got to better Ipswich’s score to go up automatically and you’ve got to beat Oxford’s to stay up. We only manage a draw v Oxford but you lose your game and Ipswich lose theirs. I think I’d avoid coming on here for a good year or so 🤣

Feel free to do that anyway, yknow just sayin.
  • My guesswork..

Oxford draw with Wrexham but beat Wednesday
    Blackburn lose to Sheffield Utd
We lose to Ipswich but draw with Hull

The 3 of us all in danger last game of the season with us with worst GD after a bad Ipswich defeat and us hoping either Leicester or Millwall do a favour for us so we don't have to get something from Swansea.
