Ipswich look susceptible to a quick break from defence to attack, so piece of cake Wednesday, you watching NJ?
Not sure our quick break routine of running forward 2 metres stopping, turning around and passing it back to Bell who then passes to Jones who then passes back to bell who then passes to TC who then passes back to bell who then passes it back to jones who then passes back to bell who then passes it back to jones who then passes it to Clarke who then passes it back to jones who then passes it back to bell etc etc etc until eventually one of them smacks it high up the pitch aimlessly giving the ball back to the opponent rinse and repeat
WTF is one of Ramsay / Sichenje / Burke doing whilst all this is going on... Completely ignored when Jones passes to Clarke, not going to score very high on the player marks with that sort of attitude are they

Maybe we'll bamboozle them with all the too and fro, they won't know where they are, and wham bam a double is done before they know what's hit them...aka Portman Rd...

Very soft pen, however, don’t put your arms around the opponent.

That’s one of the softest penalties I’ve seen in a long time. Such a shame for Millwall.

Defender let Hirst get goal side and definitely had his arms around him, but then don't all defenders these days.

    Lol! Made me chuckle.

Our style of football is technically called tiki-taka-thump.

I'd be interested to hear from the Referee as to why it was given... We wont of course
But if he gave it because the lad had his arms round the Ipswich player then fair enough
If he thinks the Ipswich lad has been thrown to the floor then he's been mugged off

Really think that it'll be Southampton that gets second now
The Championship table is bonkers this year though, four teams fighting for 2nd separated by a point
    10th > 16th separated by a point
Could have had a scenario yesterday where 18th > 21st were all on 49-pts
Just hope it’s not that lot down the road

Penalty was very dodgy, but that could prove to be an absolutely vital point for Ipswich.

It means they can afford to lose at Southampton and will still go up in 2nd if they win their other 3 matches.

Absolutely an issue that it’s so inconsistently judged, but the defender still gives the ref a decision to make.

Don't mind that. Keeps the pressure on Ipswich, so that they turn up on Wednesday needing a win, rather than being relaxed.

And however painful it might be, if we don't do the business in the next two games, we need Millwall to play Oxford needing a win, rather than just being able to rest players and letting Oxford have 3 points.

The recent form.guide is shocking. Last 6 matches -

    WBA             12 points
    Pompey       11 points
    Blackburn       7 points
    Oxford             6 points
    CAFC                3 points
    Leicester          3 points
    With performances to match
Portsmouth were awful against Leicester yesterday, were fortunate not to concede a penalty, and then their winner could easily have been ruled out for handball on another day.
I meant us specifically. Our points return matches our performances over the last 6 games. Bar the home game where we missed a hatful of chances (Bristol City?) I'm not sure we can claim to have been hard done by with 3 points from a possible 18

    Oxford- Unfair pen conceded
    Norwich- Clear Pen not given
    Bristol City- Keeper howler
Watford- Hit post, JRC missing 2 clear cut
    Preston- Hit post
    Wednesday- Hit post+Bar keeper howler

you can always argue do we do enough to deserve to win games, but that completely discredits Jones style to win games in the moments when you don’t play well and some of the players are letting him down in that respect
You're simply highlighting single moments in  matches rather than looking at each game as a whole.

Just because we hit the post against Preston doesn't mean we deserved a draw in that match. Dodgy penalty or not, we did not deserve a win at Oxford.

To be clear, I am absolutely discrediting Jones's style here, particularly over the last 6 games. That's my whole point.
I’m highlighting key moments which is exactly how Jones sets up, do the basics (don’t make silly errors), restrict opposition to minimal high quality chances and take ours when they come.

By discrediting that style of football as legitimate your basically saying no team deserves to get anything from games unless they create more chances or play expansive open football.

Watford had 31 shots 10 on target and I couldn’t name you 1 quality chance they had, we had about 5 shots but about 3 big chances. Do we do enough to win games probably not have we had opportunities to win those games or very least not lose yes
Set up like that away against boro by all means. That style of football at preston, and then again yesterday, isnt the right decision. Those teams were there to be played at.

Once the forward get the other side of the defender don't put your arms around the attacker in open play in the area.
As long as the ref give a pen every time them maybe the wrestling will stop.
Kayne was the wrong side and the ref gave a penalty despite the ball going through to the keeper. Despite being bias that did look soft but Ramsay's leg came together with the forwards and that why he was hurt against Oxford.

No chance at corners as there is grappling going on every where and you would get 5 penalties every game.

Agree with George Hirst: he was held in the box and it doesn't matter if he was getting to the ball or not.
A pen was the correct decision.

    Pen all day long.

And there should be a pen or free kick at every corner.

Dont blame the ref, blame the framework they have to work within and cheating players.

If the very worst does happen amd we lose our next two and Oxford won their next two, they'll be ahead of us going into that game

Well, there could be another team below us going into these last 3 matches but everyone threw a party yesterday when Pompey beat Leicester 🤷‍♂️.

Our GD is only 2 better than Oxford's, so if they win 1 and lose 1 out of the next 2, and we lose both, then it's likely to be even closer or the same going into the final game of the season. If we then lose to Swansea and they beat Millwall, they're likely to pip us on GD.

So unless they lose really heavily to Wrexham on Tuesday, we'll still need a point to finish ahead of them.

If refs started giving pens at every opportunity, it would stop all of this shit at corners and free kicks.

Relegation battles are funny things. They can bring a whole club together and unite a fanbase and the players on the pitch.

The only other club who have responded as we have are a total basket case who might not even exist in a year.

The evidence is in front of us in that chart.
  • Will Millwall drop a point against Stoke, Leicester and Oxford.  Not sure they will.

Shaping up for us to lose our next 3 and need Millwall to beat Oxford to stay up, knowing that a win will get them promoted ain't it!
