We desperately need a win tomorrow. Lose and it really puts pressure on winning at Oxford because I can’t see us getting much at Boro.

    We play them next Saturday.

They could be level with us if they beat us.

When is the time to worry about them?
Probably now as reading the last couple of pages, we’re already down and should plan for Bromley 🙄

Preston are a really unlikeable club, just hang around in the Championship year on year like a bad smell. A real nothing club.
One of the founding clubs of the football league. Steeped in history. First ever club to achieve the league/FA cup double. One of the only clubs to have won all top four tiers in English football. Hardly a nothing club.
Yeah, but they are shit now.
We can but dream of being that shit

I’ve been reasonably relaxed up until now.
But with Oxford winning again I do think a win tomorrow is important.
    We need 1 point minimum.

As I said on here a couple of weeks back, so many idiots on here saying Oxford were relegated,  when they were showing signs of fight, plus a batch of good home games to come.

We lose tomorrow, we are bang in it.

Does feel like there’s some complacency creeping in…we aren’t out of this by any stretch. Oxford’s run is a big problem for us and everyone else down the bottom and shows that any team is capable of doing it. Our last time in the Championship we had a 5 point gap for what seemed like an eternity, then it evaporated. This is a massive week for us, and going to Oxford next Saturday feels a really, really awkward one

I struggle to see them continuing this form until the end of the season though. They still have Southampton, Hull, Derby, Watford, Wrexham & Millwall to play all of whom are pushing for play offs

Anyone would think they’ve beaten two play off teams this week.

Coupled with Oxford having won their last two games they now have prospects of staying up.
I had written off Oxford three games ago.

Not as much as West Brom and Leicester.

Next two games (for oxford): Blackburn, then us- big six points up for grabs for them.
Portsmouth have Blackburn at 12:30, then Swansea (on Wednesday),, then Derby.
Blackburn have Portsmouth at 12:30, then Oxford (on Wednesday), then Millwall.
West Brom have Sheff Utd (a) tomorrow, Southampton (h) (on Wednesday), and Hull (h) next Saturday
Leicester have Ipswich (a) tomorrow, Bristol City (on Tuesday), and Qpr next Saturday (both at Home)

So next two games are big for Oxford and Blackburn*, imo. Their (Blackburn) game against Portsmouth (tomorrow) is a must watch in terms of where we finish tomorrow (providing it is winless). Everyone else is playing midtable/ top half (looking towards the playoffs).

We have Birmingham (a winnable game vs mid table), Middlesborough (who are three points clear in top two), and Oxford- big game for both team's season, though it has the feeling of the West Brom game to it.

I would say we are top of the teams that could go down, though 4 points, from the next three, would be okay if we manage that. Norwich and Swansea seem to be pulling away now (so are out of the discussion).

*- Blackburn's next game falls in this GW.

That's a very pessimistic outlook to have given the last two pages seem to be people discussing an Oxford win without any hysteria until this post.

I get that someone always has to pop up and say something like that, but I think the discussion is pretty measured and sensible. The facts are that we are not a good side and are still in danger. To deny that puts you in Comical Ali territory.

Or it could be that I just made a joke to make people laugh and never said anything about us not being in danger. Bizarre response

    We need 1 point minimum.

As one of the measured posters on CL who goes to every home game and several away games each and every season I feel CE is a yardstick on the state of play.

I have never regained confidence after the Millwall and Portsmouth defeats and when I said I thought we would finish 17th and 10 points clear of the 22 nd spot, that is looking a tad optimistic unless any 2 from Leicester, Blackburn and WBA can continued to drop points and Join Wednesday in the 3rd tier.
Oxford are giving it a good go now and having watched last night and a recent game, they are playing with freedom

Birmingham have had a wobble in the last two games but for their first season back despite their top wages, mid table would be a decent achievement.

For CAFC, if Billymix shows up on the post match page you  know we have lost and played shite if he goes off on a scathing condemnation; like Donald Trump on steroids.

Need a win for everyone to breathe but will take a point if that's the best we can do.

So you weren't implying that a pretty normal discussion was people overreacting?

I've never thought Oxford were doomed. Whether they can catch US is another matter. Indeed I'd be very happy if they stayed up and both WBA and Leicester went down. Or Blackburn.

There's still a 6 point gap, the same gap we have to Stoke and QPR above us. If Oxford go on a great run of form and surge to 50 points, then good luck to them. We still have 11 games left to get another 10-12 points, we'll have bad days and good days, lose games we expected to win, and win games we expected to lose.

Obviously not. That's you bringing your own stuff into the post. If you go back a couple of pages you'll even see me saying that teams are never gone until they're mathematically relegated and remembering Oxford's run of form that kept them up last season

I like the fan approach in the stands to be so boring, and devoid of creating any atmosphere that the players start to fall asleep

Unfortunately didn’t work at saints a couple of weeks ago, saints fans were silent until the goal.
