edited with even better image. huge gaping goal to aim at to GKs right, or the roof of the net, but that's going straight at the keepers body. that's not where you should be aiming for!!26 -
the 'squad' will get more and more game time as the inevitable injuries and suspensions kick in over the coming weeks.
they've all had to be patient - my only criticism so far this season is that we've sometimes waited too long to make certain subs.0 -
Love that we're ignoring the fact that if he aimed further to his right he'd be having to avoid the block coming in. He made it hard for the keeper. If he saves it with his legs he has no control where it goes and there's a decent chance we still turn it in or it bobbles in anyway7

Can't put it to the left of the keeper because the defender is there to block. The keeper is scrambling across and predicting a shot to his right which given how close it is he'd probably have a decent chance of stopping. As the keeper's already diving to the right any shot down the middle is going to be away from his dive and close to his body, which makes it hard to stop from that range. He's not got a huge amount of space to put the ball and I think just quickly hitting it hard straight down the middle was the best thing he could have done
The picture you have just posted shows him firing the ball straight at the goalkeeper. In what world is that the best place to put it. Even though the keeper was preparing to dive, there was still an enormous chance of him blocking it with his legs or it hitting them accidentally.
Olaofe was only a few yards out, there was an ENORMOUS space to the goalie's right to fire that into where the keeper would have had no chance. The keeper was at best in the middle of the goal and if anything was further from towards the near post where the ball had come across from. He should have put that in the corner out of reach of the goalie, that sort of lack of clinical edge is why we're struggling to score goals.
What he did well is just focus on striking it cleanly and on target / not skying it. It doesn't matter now, but really it should have been a better finish and as it doesn't matter now, there is no point trying to pretend otherwise for the sake of it!2 -

Tanto was seven yards out in the centre of the goal with a defender in proximity and the goalkeeper centrally placed on his line. I’d say he did well enough to score there but on another day it could easily have been blocked by one or the other SU players. A goals a goal and perhaps we earned any luck involved.2

The ball went into the back of the net and he scored, we won the game ffs, some of you really need to get a hobby or something, Christ8

He should have jumped in the crowd first and shocked everyone's hand. Before he scored, the poor showing really.🤪🧐5

I really hope tanto doesn't read the last couple pages of this thread, the next time he gets a chance like that he might not even bother shooting.3

what if this is their hobby?2 -
We moan when strikers don't score and now there's moaning when they do because the goal wasn't "good enough."
Bloody hell.21 -
Everyone who wants a pointless argument will get one40

I wasn't a huge fan of Knibbs' flick on either. Not sure he meant to put it there. Should've brought it down. Not sure he's up to this level.18
-
Honestly, in the nitpicky stakes, it makes a change from reading comments about Kaminski not being good enough so I’ll take it.0
-
Kaminski only kicked it hard enough that it needed two flick ons to reach Bree, we should consider signing a goalkeeper with a more powerful delivery21

While I'm talking about Knibbs, see his celebration for the goal? Chucks himself on the floor with no one near him. Don't need that woke nonsense in our team. I hope NJ gets in his ear ahead of the Blackburn game on that. No place in the game for it IMO4

This is the sort of bloke who you could leave on the phone while you go off to have dinner and find that he's still talking when you come back.
Hind legs, donkey don't come close.https://youtu.be/MT85_3Plt_4

I am also disappointed in Tanto's finish, he should have struck the ball so hard it broke their defenders leg and went straight through their keepers chest into the back of the net.
Standards have dropped.7 -
ShootersHillGuru said:Nothing to complain about with that result or performance with the possible exception of us still being wasteful with chances. Having said that, perhaps a dose of realism is needed now our rightful euphoria has subsided. Sheffield United are awful. They’ve lost their opening six matches and only scored once which was on their opening game of the season v Bristol City. A 1 - 4 reversal. Their previous fixture saw Ipswich put five past them. Returning manager Chris Wilder was scathing about the performance and highlighted the massive job he has on his hands. Of course you can only beat what’s in front of you and we did but this was a game that frankly we ought and needed to have won perhaps with a little more ease than with a 90th minute winner. That’s probably a little harsh because we got the result. I completely understand and support NJ in how he sets us up. We’re newly promoted and first order of business is to stay in the division. I see enough to feel cautiously optimistic we’ll achieve that goal. I don’t think NJ knows his best team yet and once the pieces of the jigsaw fall into place I think we’ll have more attacking about us. Bang mid table after six games is very satisfactory.
Hamer, Burrows, Campbell, Tangana, Peck, Barry, O'Hare and more, their keeper was outstanding as well. They probably have one of the best squads in the league. Wilder will sort them out.
Make no mistake, that was a massive result and not to be viewed as a win against a bad team, they will surge at some stage.

osteoaddick said:Good Vlog @BrazilianceFair comment about stadium and great atmosphere. It seems no video captures how relentless that rain was - it looked difficult to play in.@LouisMend guest on Thurs - Shef Utd Way - was naturally downbeat post match vlog but as you said they have class players and IMO will be ok.Agree with some we are starting to gel - but Kelman does need service - I felt if he'd had the 2nd half chances like Leaburn he'd have put them away. Swap the starters maybe?
It was so relentless I couldn't use my camera outside, it would have genuinely broken it.
I also noticed editing audio is only coming out on one side on my other mic, think that might be rain damage tbh but I'll have to test.0
