I reckon it'll be a shit sandwich later Collins in - Mbick gone - Nyoni in late on. Personally think anything over 5m is a great fee for Mbick at this stage in his development. Looks good at Col U but I didn't think much of him in the glimpses I've seen (shows what i know.)

I feel like when our attempted deals go to the wire we almost never manage to pull them off. The only one I remember us actually managing to eventually get approved was Hemed, and I think we all would have been better off if we hadn't. On the plus side I think one of the last minute dashes we missed out on was Bonne

Sorry but that's just silly. I don't think anyone WANTS him to go but if a Premiership team starts throwing their weight/money around its going to be hard for anyone outside the very big boys to say no. I will reserve judgment until we get more information about the actual terms.

We have to accept that sometimes, offers will come in for youngsters that will move the club forward: Mbick looks a talent so far but his sale can help fund some much needed talent.

We of course want to see him in a Charlton shirt but I’m guessing we will be getting upper end of £5million and that can really help support club development.

Sounds like Micah Mbick to Brighton is moving closer. Expected that he'll return on loan until the end of the season.

Reports of an incoming at Brighton who will join them officially in the summer. He's now followed Brighton on Instagram 👀#ColU #CAFC

Actually gutted. It had better be a decent fee
Whats the point on him returning on loan when he is already out on loan anyway? Doesnt benefit us.

Also - would make sense to get first dibs on any loans Brighton have lined up - or deals off? We could have done that with Tom Watson for example?
That’s a ColU account, so talking about a return there on loan. No point in return here on loan as he wouldn’t get into the side (otherwise we would have just recalled him in the first place rather than signing Dykes)

£5m and a big sell on for Mbick is ok with me, could end up being a £10m+ deal for us in time, and the £5m now will be huge for the progression of the club

Mbick is an odd one, as it's not like with other January sales (e.g. Burstow) where they were part of the first team before the window. Mbick is out on loan anyway, so in terms of this season, is in neither the plans of Brighton or us.
The one thing I really don't want them to do is let us have him on loan next season. If he goes, let him stay gone imo.
If we stay up, it's debatable how much game time he would get with us next season anyway, as Leaburn would stay and I imagine Dykes would sign a new deal also.

Guess we'll have to wait and see, it's pocket change to Brighton.

Hopefully they actually have a plan for him and don't add him to their endless list of loanees for 3 seasons.

Mbick is just the joys of Modern Football... Sometimes little point in bothering with an Academy because the really good kids you produce won't be around for long - Along with the younger kids that have moved to Premier League sides of late, whats that... Seven kids we've lost recently?
Either way, no point getting upset about it... Its too common now, and not restricted to us
  • If mbick is off hope it’s for big money, fed up with asking for sell on % and getting fuck all like with Gomez. That and the lookman money and some outside investment should mean we have a decent war chest if we stay up this season.

Heard the same from my Dijon supporting mate.

Not when we already know the level of money we have rejected twice. It seems the next logical number that the board would accept.

    Presume this is a joke?

A player who has barely played for us, and tbh when he did wasn't exactly Gomez / Lookman levels of impact.

On paper, with offers we are hearing about, it is a good decision for the club.

So why sell him for £2-3m? We've seen what that funds at this level - one or two L1 punts or lower Championship players who aren't on huge wages.

Disagree. We rejected 3.5 and they're getting 100m+ for their players. They won't blink at £5million going out the door on potential. It's what they do.

Mind you we're STILL getting money for Lookman, with all his European moves, and he wasn't with us that long either.

Probably because they have not offered him 10x the wages we have.

You add the Lookman windfall to the Mbick money and see why Jones mentioned bringing forward some summer recruitment if possible.

Selling Mbick now is so short sighted, he only needs to have a decent spell in the Championship with us next season and his price is more than double what is it now.
