I think the 25-player registration limit is driving most of what is happening at the moment. NJ will have a view on exactly which players we need to keep us up. If Rapter is not part of that for the remainder of this season, that’s no reason for him not to be welcomed back with open arms in the Summer, that’s the benefit of the long-term contract. I think judgement should be reserved until the window closes, and finally until the season is done. Staying up is the target, and staying up will be a success. I still have faith that NJ and the players can achieve that.

Apter (loan) and AMB (undisclosed fee) moves both confirmed on the OS.

I think the Apter situation displays either that the Manager cannot fit him into his preferred system or, that the boards policy of purchasing what they considered the best of the rest in league one is a failure. I think most people thinks it's both and it will now cost the owners more money to fill the gap left by Apter.

I have been following the discussion regarding current situation and found the insights shared here quite valuable. However, I would like to chime in with some thoughts of my own:

    1.  Splashing out money doesn’t always guarantee success.
    2.  In all honesty, what did the majority of supporters realistically expect for our league finish this season?
    3.  There is a huge gulf in class between League 1 and the Championship.
    4.  Historically, many clubs do not survive their first season back in the Championship. While Pompey and Oxford bucked that trend last season, we can see where they are now.
    5.  My own expectations were centered on survival. I am still hopeful we will achieve this, perhaps aided by Sheffield Wednesday’s current predicament.

Of course, the defeat against our local adversaries was tough to take, especially as it seemed to lack compassion, guile, and commitment. However, where there is life there is hope; we are not dead and buried just yet.
Not yet but I just heard a rumour that Mr G.Rim Reaper has just bought a house in Floyd Road  :#

Surely there must be some signings getting announced tonight now?

Any half-decent manager should be able to adapt and be flexible to a different system.

Probably something really boring like Coady and Bree tomorrow.

Yes I would have kept Apter but some of you are acting like we loaned out Lionel Messi.

    He wouldn't tackle back.

On the face of it, crazy and messy to allow a genuinely skillful player like Apter leave.
But…let’s see what the club have lined up. There must be some flair and quality incoming.

No chance of Bree coming. Tonda Eckert has made that clear.

Nathan Jones despises flair. The daft gremlin.

If we replace him with a good right wing back then we are probably in a better place. Will wait and see if that happens. Ramsay and Clarke being our RWB options is not enough attacking threat so I hope we are addressing this

This feels like almost Alfie May levels of Jones doing something that the fanbase really disagrees with. Hopefully he’s right on this one as well

If we come out of these next few days with 2 CBs and a young unproven CM from West Ham then what a disaster.

I'm not saying that's wrong but everytime we have altered it we have looked shocking, 4-4-2 second half on Saturday against Millwall was another example.

As far as I’m concerned Jones can do one . What does he have against players who have quality and skill . I look forward to a couple of overweight , crocked defenders from Luton coming in .

He doesn’t like their defensive weaknesses.

The issue is he probably takes that too far. Still tries going with two defensive wing backs, but they just puts even more pressure on us when we have a team who treat the ball like a hot potato.
I really can’t think of a manager we’ve had in the last 40 years who’s been so afraid of playing positive attacking football.
    Get rid now
Who you bringing in to replace him?
Why is this always the response to anyone that thinks Nathan Jones has run his course? Do you think Boro fans had heard of Hellberg or Hull fans of Jakirovic?
Yes quite a lot had. Especially as Hellberg nearly moved to the Championship (with Swansea?) in the summer. These names aren’t plucked out of left field unless they come directly from an academy/non management job which would be a nightmare in a relegation battle

If Apter or Jones goes ( I don’t believe for one minute the latter will happen) then Nathan might as well get in the Taxi with them because fans won’t tolerate that for a second.
Maybe it’s not NJs call to sell any player ?
Then he’ll walk if that’s the case
I think we can stop worrying about it until 1. an actual club is named as being interested 2. it comes from someone like Rich Cawley

Agree that Jones should and would consider walking if his best players were sold from under him. I don’t expect that to happen.

We just rejected millions from Brighton for Mbick so we’re clearly not desperate for cash.

No other clubs around us are selling their best players in January so why would we? It all makes no logical sense.
Unless there is divide in the camp and with NJ falling out with key players, LJ wants out?
Not impossible, he's allegedly fallen out with our Captain, one of his old Luton mates. What if he approached NJ on behalf of the squad over player selection or non selection / tactics etc. Many on here are bewildered by some of Jones selections maybe the players are as well & Doc has taken the hit for disloyalty in NJs eyes. We'll probably never know but just seems strange with Doc suddenly "disappearing".

Because I wanted to know who he wanted to replace him with? It’s not that deep man. Calm down

Corey-Blackett-Taylor (CBT) has gone on loan from Derby to Bolton, makes Apter going there unlikely ?
Cawley just reported Apter also joining Bolton

Let's at least wait and see if Apter is any good at BW before we give Jones some stick eh?

    Needs time.
