Winter-January 2026 Transfer Window Rumours ...

I don't think he's ripping up the plans so much as replacing the parts that have been sticking in trying to make the plan work. He's made reference before to both Tanto and Apter being unhappy about not playing and in letting them go we are saying goodbye to 2 goals and 2 assists. Tanto never got a particularly good run but it became clear quite early on that he wasn't going to be able to carry out the role TC does, which was a disappointment for me because I thought his pace and power coming off the left would be huge for us. He's got a fairly inconsistent touch, he doesn't really create much and his finishing is very poor. Apter apparently fell out with Jones about being dropped a long time ago so I think Jones is trading out the non-working, unhappy parts to bring in new ones. Apter has been replaced with a player who seems to be more like Small in terms of his play which is likely a good thing and Tanto was being used more as a targetman than a winger, and in that case we've brought in Dykes who is a more pure practitioner of the role. It doesn't speak all that well to the summer recruitment but equally it gives these players a chance to play some football, get some confidence back and if they're willing hopefully go again in the summer. Regardless of what we say about the transfer dealings Tanto especially just hasn't delivered at this level and some of that has to be on the playerElliotCAFC said:Nathan Jones ripping up the plans he built only 6 months ago. My initial thought was that it’s a terrible stain on our recruitment, but the more I think about it, I’m glad Jones has the bottle to twist rather than stick. It’s currently not working, and if we persevere with the same tools then we’re on a hiding to nothing.I wish we could have seen more of Apter, but the system just doesn’t suit him. I like Tanto but he’s a forward that doesn’t score or assist. Hopefully there’s a marquee signing or two on the way.23 -
I understood him to be a wingback too? I’ll stand corrected.sammy391 said:

Apter and Tanto out temporarily, whilst bringing in a 23yo GK in Brooks, and a 22yo LWB Jayden Fevrier - who has played 2 or 3 games this season
WTAFBut still, absolutely baffling
- wingers are hardly used by Jones in the system unless they are Wing-Backs
- we’ve let one winger go, but decided to replace him with another random ones
- did we actually have any interest, or have Stockport offered him to us to push the Olaofe signing through?-we’re in a relegation dogfight, I’d hoped we would be bringing in more players of experience/ability
- we’ve signed the lad on a straight loan, so not even looking as if he’d be someone we want permanently
Also this smacks of a loan to perm surely? He’s quite highly rated and league one talent seems to be the place we are able to try to find talent3 -
Did Coady fail the medical ? .. first time for everything0

Cawley confirmed it’s just a loan, no option to buyTheHerminator said:

Sorry but not getting it at the moment, Nathan always comes out with’we will be categorically better’ not feeling it’s the case at the moment. And we know we aren’t signing anyone with big wages because Gavin said we aren’t going to unsettle the squad. Fevrier is an absolute punt no different to what we’ve loaned out, but cut costs no doubt.1

Then that is slightly confusing to be fairsammy391 said:

Have we managed to find a bit of spare change down the back of the sofa in the 1905 Lounge?2
-
I’m not sure why but looking at Stockport reactions it’s sort of like when we loaned Kirk to Blackpool. A sort of sense of why would you want him. Very promising0
-
So is this right.......
We've bought 1 keeper and sold 1 keeper
We've swapped 1 winger in for 1 winger out
We've loaned a striker out
Seriously hope the ones coming in are upgrades on those going out otherwise questions will be asked in the House.4 -
Any chance we try to fix the midfield which is one of our biggest problems going forwards?
Or are we content doing marginal swap arounds that don't actually fix anything in our weakest area?2 -

Pace + Power + Plays in a position we need to strengthen.Sword65pf said:We need championship quality players…….. yay!!! We’ve got Fevrier, why is he going to be more suited than the other two we’ve let go? Has he played in the championship before?
Apter is not a wingback. Or particularly powerful
Tanto is not a wingback
Fevrier has all 3 and we ALL agree we need more pace and power in the side

Send all the signings back. They are clearly shit and cant contribute, some before they have kicked a ball.
Cawley has said we will have more incomings, which will also be classed as shit I expect, so see where we are then.
For context:
Clarke- wing back (left and right) looks decent
Chambers - wing back (left) 45 mins brought stability.
Dykes (target man striker) limited service but works hard to make a difference
Fevrier - wing back (right) can also operate as winger
Brooks - talented (by all accounts, never seen him play) 3rd choice GK.
Coady - whilst not signed yet, experienced leader who other players can lean on. He can still do a job.

I would guess (no knowledge) that if we stay up, he signs - if we don’t, he won’t.TheHerminator said:

He is a leftie who can do the Small role, but I think will be LWB until Chambers is up to speed. Then we must go 4-3-3The Red Robin said:Promising. You’d think he’s going to play on the left as plan A. Hopefully there’s a plan to sign him permanently in the summer all going well.

Clarke. Jones (Kenyan/Burke) Bell Chambers
Gough/Zach Coventry

Would assume the Fevrier signing means Hernandez is gone. Struggling to keep up with all the squad juggling so I guess Tantos spot is earmarked for Coady tomorrow , Brooks takes AMBs and Fevrier takes Apters. Which leaves us at 25 still as it stands. Probably a few more outs to come.2
-
Also Fevrier is left footed so will help keep the balance in the side12

lol at those thinking we could be in for him.CafcSteve said:Ward-Prowse joins Burnley.
We couldn't even afford Dave Prowse.7 -
Would have come out somewhere if he was, or they would have mentioned it in the signing blurbLargeAddick said:

So best case scenario with fevrier we inflate the transfer fee Stockport are going to get in the summer? V odd bit of business0

Sorry mate, all unproven at championship level.i agree with most of the posts you make, but this I have serious doubts about.Swisdom said:

The window effectively so far:
- Dykes in for Olaofe
- Fevrier in for Apter
- Clarke in for Bree
- Chambers in for Edwards (inj)
- Brooks in for AMB15 -
Forgot we can remove Josh and Knibbs from the squad list , this last hour has been a bit of a nightmare to keep up with. Agree the Doc move will probably happen but if Lloydy is injured who's the skipper?ForeverAddickted said:MarcusH26 said:Would assume the Fevrier signing means Hernandez is gone. No, its just taking time for him to walk from the station to the training ground. He could get a bus but by the time he's heard it and turned round, it's gone past.Lincsaddick said:Did Coady fail the medical ? .. first time for everything0 -

Love this.YannTheMann said:Yeah happy with that as a replacement down the right and can actually play the position as opposed to being shoehorned like Apter
No idea if he will play left or right. 😂😂😂0 -
Actually wouldn't surprise me. I was thinking Coventry but he's not guaranteed to start , Burke and Bell would be the other 2 senior options but obviously aren't guaranteed to start.TheHerminator said:
