I wish it had worked with Rapter but he's not even getting a kick. Olaofe has had some chances but with Godden back and now Dykes (that non-injured Championship experienced player that everyone keeps mentioning that we need...) he was never going to even make the squad.

Better to move them on and use their wages on people who fit our system and in areas that we're lacking in numbers ie. wingback, not strikers.

I also think our squad is in a bad place in general with probably pretty low confidence so a bit of a shake up - few players in and out - is probably a good thing.

I'm sure there's going to be lots of "these players are punts!"... All transfers are punts. Apter and Olaofe were punts that haven't worked out so better to not dwell but to move onto another punt instead. Look at Liverpool's summer business as evidence that it doesn't matter how much you spend, it is always a punt.
I have been watphing since 1968 and you are right, I have lost pount of how many punts we have signed, Barry Endean, Izale Mpleod, he was a proper punt, Roger Johnson, he was a bigger Punt than Mpleod, the list is endless, its about time we stopped signing punts and time I got my keyboard fixed.

Cheers Louis, dealing with a data breach issue at work and need something to ease the next 7 hours (or however long the pod is).

I don't think Jones needs to be questioned on the opinion of the dad of a player. I hate the idea of you all having to question me about the things my dad thinks of me, let alone questioning my boss.

I do think Jones needs to be questioned on the original comment (which I can only see half of) about him being the sole one in charge and what this January squad overhaul means for him and for his summer business.

This is a big throw of the dice by NJ. If we do end up getting relegated then he has nowhere to hide. He’s spent a lot of his summer budget on two players who he has barely played and has now shipped out on loan. If they end up leaving in the summer we will without doubt make a loss on the purchases and added to the loss we will eventually take on Ahadme that’s a lot of his budget down the pan. He’s in the last chance saloon methinks.

What does Apter's Dad want, a fcuking committee picking the team?

That is what his Dad had liked.

Fevrier's league stats at Stockport aren't great. Mainly used as a sub yet we see him as an upgrade on Apter?

    24/25 - 11 starts, 14 sub apps
    25/26 - 7 league starts, 14 sub apps

I think lots more movement ahead. I can see 2/3 more leaving and 3/4 more joining.
Massive week ahead as we seem to be backing Jones with a squad churn.

Fevrier is a lot more similar in style to Small, so it’s maybe that he’s just a better fit for us and how we play than Apter is.

I’m ok with it as it shows Jones has recognised the need to have something on the right hand side like last season so we can play with width and an outlet on both flanks. If he doesn’t trust Apter to do it then I’d rather get someone else in than just play with defensive wing backs

Unless NJ gets moved on, we won’t see either of those two players again, and the owners will be taking a haircut on both of them, the ones for the future strategy is going to backfire big time.

Nah. Couple of loans but the big news is Lloyd Jones is still here.

He was never leaving anyway …

We can sign as many speedy players and leaders as we like, if we don’t sort out our central midfield it will be pointless.

At the moment our midfield 3 is hopeless, whoever we put there. We need power and pace in there.

I know it hasn’t been announced yet but Connor Coady has started following Charlton on Instagram which solidifies his signing.

Absolutely CM is going to be make or break. I just hope it's more than a young PL kid on loan. As fun as the link to spending seven figures on a CB is I'd rather spend that on a quality CM.

What about Linda Coady? That would confirm it

If anyone is apprehensive about the signing of Coady, this is going to be his main attribute. A proper leader and someone with bundles of experience.

Will likely change his mind about signing once he reads the comments on tonight's transfers 😅

If we have proper WBs the midfield options will improve overnight, looking at passes ahead rather than behind them. Id like to see Zach, Gough or both give CM some physicality. If they dont work try something else, but Doc, Berry, Anderson, JRC, Knibbs and even Carey have failed. Coventry backward passes still in debate. TT and Dobson were better than all the above. There must be some pacy CMs out there. Aribo on loan? Baradji? Wiredu?

Personally I am not sure why people are annoyed or surprised we’ve loaned out Tanto. He was out 5th choice striker and at large not up to this level at the moment. It’s best he goes and plays.

My biggest concern is Jones has signed another striker based on traits that he loves and believes he can develop and improve. Gas man a flop and Tanto not worked yet.

I fully trust Jones when it comes to signing defenders. His record is strong. Other areas of the pitch have been pretty poor and I think he really needs some help signing attacking players.

    The window effectively so far:

    - Dykes in for Olaofe
    - Fevrier in for Apter
    - Clarke in for Bree
    - Chambers in for Edwards (inj)
    - Brooks in for AMB
Doesn't look great. We needed to improve substantially yet being optimistic, then imo, Dykes and Fevrier may be marginal improvements and that's about it.

I would say that Coady and Chambers are both upgrades over no one given that Edwards has been hurt for months. Dykes definitely looks an upgrade. Brooks, it's really just academic at this stage (hopefully at least). And then the right side, Fevrier and Clarke for Bree and Apter--time will tell. I think that's going to be crucial for how this window is judged. But I think our squad has gotten better.

Now we need another #8. And maybe Doc goes (I'd rather Anderson go out on loan but he seems to be in Jones' plans).

It’s 1.9m Euros. Was mentioned about 20 pages back.

We need 3 players still, a left centre back that can cover LWB, a midfielder that's a clear upgrade on Anderson, Docherty and even Coventry, and ideally another attacker with pace, whether that's a winger, a striker or a number 10, I'm not sure

Brighton still sniffing around Mbick worries me. Unless the fee is astronomical I hope the owners hold firm.
