Hope the fan makes a full and speedy recovery and that the medical staff get a huge round of applause at the replayed game.

Lloyd Jones is lucky that his yellow card won't stand now.

Really don’t understand why it’s off no doubt someone will explain sometime soon.

Thoughts with the fan and all involved.

As for Portsmouth Football Club, their fans are a total and utter disgrace for their reaction. Absolute stinking filth.
Hopefully the club shows some class and addresses their despicable fanbase.

Thoughts are with the fan and his loved ones. Hope we hear some good news!

We're lucky we're going to be able to play the game with a left wing back who, presumably, can at least move

What did the Pompey fans do.
Starting booing, and chanting: "What a waste of money" when Dave Lockwood announced the game was off

What’s the reason it can’t restart?
No ambulance and relevant medical personnel on site
3 ambulance  parked behind the north stand.
Plenty of medical people walking about
If this is the case, where's the need of those who've gone to the hospital?

I do not agree with this. Sorry I may be callous, but the old funeral sums it up well I the midst of life we are in. Death.
Or the theatre saying the show must go on.
Not without a medical term there it mustn't and can't.

Booing the announcement and saying "what a waste of money", just total arse holes every one of 'em...
  • Obviously desperately hope the fan involved recovers.

And abandoning the game after such a long wait is probably the right decision.

But from watching on Sky, communication from the club on what was happening didn't seem great. Or is that being unfair?

Most theatres cancel shows now days!
It is most likely off due to the uncertainty of when the Ambulance would return to the ground and not because the nature of the call.
As I said the club pay a private company to supply the Ambulance and to carryon, they must have a certain minimal level of attendance. I would also imagine the ground Doctor has gone too, so they are short of an Ambulance and Doctor.

What did the Pompey fans do.
Booing the decision, shouting what a waste of money, goading the announcer who was doing a bloody good job in a tough circumstance, chanting all kinds of horrible stuff.

    Disgusting.

I feel for the fans in the covered end who helped deal with the emergency.
It can be a very upsetting experience.
I hope they get help/advice if needed.
My love goes to them too, heroes everyone ♥️

I wish whoever fell ill the swiftest recovery possible. Other things in life are far more important than a game of football

They wouldn't start the match with so many medical and emergency personnel dealing with an issue and the concomitant issues around emergency vehicles blocking or taking up room in the surrounding roads. So they can't really restart the game in the circumstances.

Typically, if a match is "suspended" for more than forty minutes, the most likely scenario is an abandonment and a replay.

Sky still saying match  delayed? @1.28. As I stated at the start Sky's presentation is very poor.
Sorry to all the fans that went today, Thoughts go out to the poor fan that was taken ill.
Best wait for a proper update as why this had to happen.

No, the communication wasn't great really, but Dave was probably in the dark like everyone else

Via the commentary on the livestream, my understanding is that the medical staff that accompany the distressed supporter to the hospital would have to return or be replaced in order to satisfy the requirements for medical staff that are in place for the match to continue. It’s also possible that there are thresholds for how long a match can be interrupted before having to be abandoned.

Not withstanding the seriousness of the situation I am surprised it's been called off. Similar incidents have happened the last couple of seasons at other grounds and I can't remember them being abandoned, just delayed. Just pray the fan involved is ok.

I was listening to the commentary.
Steve Brown thought that you need to have a certain amount of medical staff at a ground during the game, with that it may be that the game would be delayed until the required amount of staff can be in attendance.
Hopefully the person concerned will make a swift recovery.

Hoping the best for the affected fellow Addick. Thinking of them and their loved ones, as well as all those that witnessed the distress and those that did their best to help.
