i honestly thought it was the quietest our fans have been all season (away from home) from the TV until we scored and could hear a bit .

we've been decent vocally for most away games this season
Obviously no offence to the brave souls who travelled up last night, I watched from the comfort of my sofa so they deserve all the credit. But hopefully this helps put to bed the nonsense that if we just cheer loudly we’ll win every match. Fans don’t really make the difference (in a positive way, definitely understand they can contribute to a negative environment) - we would just like to think they do as it gives us some control over the outcome of matches. In reality we are very much spectators.
Nobody said if we cheer loudly we'll win every match. That's stupid. But if your legs have gone, you're struggling and under immense pressure, knowing and hearing a few hundred cheering the team on can only help. All in this together. Nathan said as much in his post match interview.
Why do players and manager say fand make a difference.I suspect its because it does.

I think it’s very very important that the whole club is pulling in the same direction. The performances of the players spill over into the stands and vice versa. One of the minor miracles Nathan Jones has created is the feeling of togetherness in every aspect of the club. His final whistle antics with the fans is I think something we’ve never experienced before and it took a while to get used to it. I’ve had several wobbles in my support for NJ but he’s got 100% support from me and can’t think of a person I’d prefer at this stage in the clubs rehabilitation

Some games you're cruising to a comfortable win,  and can really enjoy yourself in the crowd. Some games you might be drawing or behind,  but dominating, and as fans you feel you can suck the ball into the net.

Last night in the second half was just unbearably tense. You cheer a great bit of defensive play or a Boro miss,  then we give the ball away for their next attack. There were no moments when you could just relax and enjoy yourself  :D

I'm sure that was the case, but listening on CharltonTV from Woolwich Dockyard while I was making my supper, I could hear our fans singing Valley Floyd Road and Nathan Jones Red Army, and as the clock wound down and Allez Allez piped up, I was singing along in my kitchen. Can't wait to join you all in The Valley for the next home match!

Maybe the people that think being supportive makes no difference have a point.

I think I’ll pop down to Greenwich for next months London Marathon and scream dogs abuse at all the runners.

I’m confident if all the spectators do the same it will be a big boost for the runners.

Star guests John Hendrie and David Wheater were complimentary about our defending, but bemoaning their lack of a target/hold up man. Said they shouldn't have let Coburn go, which will interest a couple of lifers on here?

If the only other Charlton fan in the lounge is on here, sorry we didn't speak.
What the Bermondsey Haaland? 😉 He’s been a revelation since he returned from injury and since he has been getting a regular run in the team. Pops up with the odd goal but it’s not just that. his all round play is superb. His hold up play is so beneficial to the team and he has a great attitude. Grafts so much and defends from the front.

I watched your game up there as obviously had a big interest in this one and I thought your fans sounded decent to be fair. For the numbers you had up there (which wasn’t bad at all for a Wednesday night in Middlesbrough) you could hear them loud and clear.
