Without wishing to sound too dramatic, Portsmouth's winner could be a defining moment in our season.
I fear for us if we were to lose our next two games, that is quite possible.
  • Weirdly optimistic, I think NJ will get a response out of the players and we will play well enough to earn a draw,
We played well enough to get a draw Monday...until the last 20 seconds
  • If only Barry Endean was fit.

They've stuttered a little bit lately, but still have an eight point lead over the chasers
I'll be over the proverbial moon if we can squeeze a point out of this one
Against Coventry the best form of defence could be attack
I'd go for Apter, Campbell, Kelman, Carey all to start as well as Knibbs, who oddly has the very best goals per minutes played ratio in the squad

Kaminski .. Burke, Jones, Bell .. Apter, Coventry, Knibbs, Campbell .. Carey, Kilman .. might as well go down fighting

They will give you chances as shown in the away game but you have to take more than One of those, as they will try and outscore you as they have done for the majority of this season.

As always looking forward to it with friends and family plus a few beers as well.
  • Sorry to upset the happy clappers but it's going to be a very one sided game. 0-0 at half time will be a bonus. UTA.
Is this meant to be a put down, or are you genuinely concerned for people that despite their condition are happy but have the clap? Asking for a friend. Also if think we may get a point am I a happy clapper?

Until Bell went off in the reverse fixture I firmly believe we were taking at least a point from them.

That’s about all the optimism I can currently muster up.

0-2 Coventry and the goal scoring woes continue.

2-2 after being 0-2 down in first half … Kelman and Knibbs
  • Monday will be this season's Crawley moment.  2-1 Addicks and the crowd goes ballistic. 👊

Na no put down brev. Just posting a realistic view often gets referred to as giving up by a certain few. Fwiw I don't agree with the we are already down lot either. I think we will stay in the division but I think we will get ripped to shreds tomorrow.

    LMAO
    Chat GPT's recommendation:

Here’s how I’d set the Addicks up tomorrow, keeping things tight and giving us a real chance of nicking something:
    Probable formation: 3-5-2
    GK
    Kaminski – experienced, loud, reliable.
    Back three
Burke – Lloyd Jones – Bell
Burke and Bell are back and that’s a boost. Lloyd Jones has done enough to stay in there. Solid at least, and we need that more than fancy shapes.
    Wing-backs
    Bree (RWB) – Coventry (LWB)
Bree is a grown-up professional on the right; Coventry wide left gives us energy on the switch and a bit of bite. Conor’s excellent defensively which we’ll need here.
    Midfield three
    Carey – Berry – Knibbs
Carey gets the ball moving and holds shape, Berry can link play and get forward, Knibbs gives a bit of juice up the middle and can press COV players. If Jones wants more grunt, slot Docherty instead of Berry.
    Front two
    Kelman – Leaburn
Kelman offers direct running and Leaburn’s a big target to flick on to. With Godden and Hernandez out, we need two forwards who’ll chase defenders and cause disruption.

Personally I think that side gets slammed. I'd swap Coventry for Knibbs and bring in Anderson alongside him. This allows Carey to push further forward. Knibbs is replaced by T.C as we don't really have another option.

So my Suggestion is below, whether any of these line ups are close is another story all together, but I hope we can scrape a draw, if we score even better as that's what we're really lacking right now... goals. I'd like to apologise to Golfie who called it early in the season that our lack of goals would become a problem and it certainly has... But if my memory is failing me and that was actually last season... ignore my apologies all together.

    Kaminski

    Burke - Jones - Bell
    Bree - Anderson - Coventry - Campbell

    Carey

    Kelman - Leaburn

The team looked nicely balanced with Fullah at LWB away at Birmingham. It was only a draw that day, but arguably a game we should have won and our best performance in a while. I'm not sure why NJ has kept changing it.

Hope we can get any kind of result tomorrow.

  • I think Coventry have hit the buffers. In December they have scored just 4 goals in 6 games, lost twice to Ipswich who we beat and won just 2 games from the 6. Can I suggest we buy the two videos from Ipswich where they won and study them in detail before the game. We just need to keep the ball in their half to stop them scoring and get Apter on the pitch from the start to start taking the corners and free kicks and then our players will start believing we have a chance to score from set piece situations.

What happened to anderson? Sick ? Injured?

I think we will take this 2-1

New Year, new nightmare.  I hope we keep them to three and one of our frontmen get a goal.

    1-3
  • But for our recent form , this would have hit
25,000 attendance tomorrow think now be lucky to hit 20,000
  • This isn't as scary a prospect as it would have been a month ago, as Coventry overachieved in the first 4 months of the season, both in terms of their performances, but also in their incredible finishing, way better than their xG. In recent games they've looked more ordinary.

Which isn't to say I expect us to get something out of the game, but it's certainly not impossible. Oxford followed losing at The Valley, and looking pretty hopeless, by somehow beating Southampton at home; the Championship does throw up surprise wins.

Wouldn't be surprised to see something like the below, solid, proper turgid stuff and grind out a shock 0-0

                    Kaminski
         Burke Jones Gilesphey
    Bree                                   Bell
    Coventry Docherty Anderson
               Leaburn Tanto

We set up to fight for points regardless of opposition, that's not going to change tomorrow.

1-0 win to us Kelman second half goal
  • I will be watching on TV, and I hope that I do not have issues with Sky!.
I fear that'll if we lose this one even with a game in hand of some of our rivals it looks very difficult.
Obviously, Coventry will want to bounce back, but hopefully we can  hold out for a draw, although I am never one for setting up to play for one!. I used to enjoy seeing a game on Boxing Day at the Valley, but fear I will be  sadly disappointed, but as others have mentioned you never know with Charlton.

Have not been able to bear reading the post-match Pompey thread after being at Fratton Park.  It really was the most unjones-like end to a game where we completely swtiched off for the final 30s.  Did not help that we were giving it to the Pompey fans at the time and ended with egg on faces.

For Coventry, 80% likely away win, 15% draw, 5% Charlton win.
Gawd, have you bought the franchise off @oohaahmortimer for quoting percentage chances? Must have set you back a bit. 75% more than £1 million, 24% £1 to £1 million, 1% 50p.

2 out of form teams seeing as both have lost their last 2 matches. There can only be 1 winner.

    A comfortable 4-0 home win.

Ipswich countered with real pace and speed in a 4-3-3 at times. When we win the ball we’re far too slow with it and it allows the opposition to reset and delay us.
  • Can’t foresee too much joy from this one.
