Should we play our strongest team against Chelsea?

  • Around a week's rest either side of the match.

Our players will be keen to face Chelsea.

Chelsea should be just as keen to avoid injuries.

They won't play their strongest squad.

    Home advantage.

100% play a squad to win it.

Yes - throw everything we have at them
  • Not sure bringing Edwards on for the last 30 just as Chelsea bring on Garnacho or Estevao off the bench will do him much favours.
The mere thought of Estevao taking on TC and Macca fills me with dread! There are three or four of our currently injured or injury prone players who should be nowhere near this game. Sorry to be the odd man out guys but we need to concentrate on Champ survival at all costs.........

    Yes.

Not least because fans are being charged a fair amount to watch the game.

Too much is made of the potential for injuries and morale-wise, I can't see too many players being happy to be left of this one.

Yes... Unless someone has been playing beyond their capabilities of late and are in desperate need of a rest, would possibly class Jones and Coventry in that category, and would definitely include Burke in that category.
It will be a great opportunity as well for Kelman to continue getting more minutes since his return
I think Jones / Coventry, and any First Teamers would probably be pissed off for once, at missing a game of this magnitude... if we were facing Cambridge, they probably wouldnt mind, but Chelsea is a different case entirely.

We have bigger fish to fry, if we get beat and we can avoid injuries where players are needed for the more important league fixtures.

I’m seeing this as an opportunity to give key players a rest and recuperation time!

Absolutely no need to risk players, especially against what is likely to be a very strong side (LRs first game) or a team of kids keen to impress (eager and dangerous).

a good opportunity to bed in/give debuts to some youngsters too - Gough, Laq, Rylah etc - as well as minutes to bit part players.

    league HAS to take priority!
playing our U18s against Chelsea's first team doesn't seem like a great plan for their futures or the club's morale as a whole

Yes, as we have no midweek games this week or next week. Plus the players will be desperate to play this game, especially with the added interest in this game caused by the Chelsea changes. I wouldn't want to be the person to tell Lloyd Jones and Coventry that they're being rested for this.

And it's a good opportunity to promote the club. Push Chelsea hard, and a few local kids might take an interest in us. Get tonked, playing a team full of kids, and they'll just think we're a joke little side, and continue to follow the PL sides. Such as Palace.

Yes and all of our best players will want to play a top 6 premier league team in a sold out valley and 100% deserve that opportunity. If I was a lloyd jones or conor coventry I think I would be disappointed to be rested for this. If they’re not injured they should be playing.

I think they’ll put out a decent side, certainly better than the team Maresca likely would have picked as Rosenoir won’t want to take any chances in his first match.

Unlikely that Chelsea will be flying into reckless challenges in the same way a lower league side would be, so probably less of an impact injury risk at least.

I think the pertinent question is what do we think NJ will do ?

I fear he will rest too many and blood a few youngsters and not take the opportunity to exploit an expected lesser Chelsea team.

I take it you've never watched Caicedo or Enzo Fernandez play?

No we should put the bit players on, Chelsea`s U21 would beat our first choice team. So i see no reason why we should risk more injuries and more player fatigue . Given our precarious position in the league it would be foolish i these circumstances,  league survival comes first.

I would have thought Rosenior’s brief for his job is finishing in a Champions league qualifying position in the PL, reach the semi-finals of the CL as a minimum and get some silverware. Being in the semi-final of the league cup is probably more realistic for the latter than battling through every round of the FA Cup so I doubt he would jeopardise his new teams chances in achieving the three main objectives by risking his best players on the Charlton game.

Chelsea are 17 points behind the league leaders and have a very tricky draw in the league cup. They might not want to squander the chance of silverware.

He's going to want to win his first game comfortably, given that most Chelsea fans are against his appointment. Think we will see a few first teamers playing

And if any of them get hurt against us, a team from the Championship, from
London, live on tv and all our players out to make a name for themselves, then most Chelsea fans will probably be looking at their upcoming fixtures in the PL, Champions League and league Cup semi-final and telling him to fuck off

Dont play any academy players, with eyes on and chelsea in particular sniffing around
