I just hope that when it's England's turn to bowl that we bowl a full length and target the stumps.
This is basically what New Zealand have done and the wicket has rewarded them.
None of this short pitched crap please England.
    There you have it folks.
Absolute proof the England team reads Charlton life.
    You were saying?
It's annoying watching Robinson bowl bouncers.
Just bowl straight and pitch it up.

Generous to keep Robinson on to get his 5fer,  as until the wicket he was pretty ineffective today.

Do the Kiwis know they're allowed to catch the ball?

Rare for Kiwis to be so poor in the field.

Up there with one of the worst fielding performances I can remember. They’ve done pretty much everything wrong.

On a pitch like this too it’s surely going to result in a loss.

It's nice to watch another side having a mare rather than England!

These byes down the leg side are very handy in a tight game

EDIT: Athers says the same seconds later. He's clearly on CharltonLife!

That is disgraceful for a second day pitch. Embarrassing for Lord's.

You’d be fuming if the pitch behaved like that in village cricket, let alone a test match

Agreed. If this was in India we'd be losing our minds that the pitch was a shittip. Really poor surface.

If Stokes saw that delivery, he'll be tempted to bring them in, with the hope of being on the golf course by 5pm

One does wonder whether the Wimbledon type machinery they've used to promote growth has had the opposite affect to what it intended to provide. At that pace a batter has zero chance of reacting to the ball.

    50 for Gay

His career won't be defined, either way, in this match but I like the way he's stuck at it, not allowed himself to get drawn into a contest by playing rash shots.

So far, I like the cut of his jib, right from before the start of play yesterday

Posted August 2024 - what's taken them so long?

"I've mentioned him before but Emilio Gay must be nearing selection but, perhaps, McCullum, Stokes and Key felt duty bound to give Lawrence the opportunity first. Crawley will be back anyway come Pakistan but, given Gay has scored 919 runs at an average of 57.43 it wouldn't surprise me if he ended up being on that tour."

The funny thing is that Gay hasn't been opening for Durham. Could see him and McKinney opening for both Durham and England in the not too distant future.

The ground staff obviously know better than me, but I did think it was odd trying to copy a tennis court. It's not as though the court needs to be rock hard for a tennis ball to bounce.
