A daft rule I agree, there was time for the next batsman to come out and face at least the final ball of the over.golfaddick said:

33 in 2 days not enough for you?golfaddick said:More daft rules (laws). A wicket falls within 3 mins of the close and that's the days play done & dusted. No matter that its bright sunshine & the bowler has still got another ball to bowl.
And I thought the whole point of the game was to take wickets 🤷♂️.
It's the daftness of it all. They've been playing extra time to make up for overs lost & it comes to the last 3 mins & its....."lets call it time lads, the next player in is on a King pair & it wont be fair on him to bat an over in this sunshine".
Why 3 mins ? Why not 5 ?. In fact 3 mins is strange as it should be 4, based on having to bowl 15 overs an hour.
As I say.....bonkers1 -
On this bit. That's exactly why 3 makes sense. It's supposed to be anything less than an over left and there is no point the new batter coming out.golfaddick said:

But there was still 1 ball of the existing over left. Even if there wasn't enough time to ball another over there was certainly enough time to bowl 1 ball.cantersaddick said:

The "logic" is it's 2 minutes to get down to the pitch and 1 to bowl the last ball of the over. You're then not allowed to bowl that last ball, I do not know whygolfaddick said:

Because the people who run the game of cricket, who make the rules have dinner reservations to get to..fenaddick said:

So glad I'm not at Lord's today, hanging around, not knowing if there will be play or not.0

Play is due to start at 1pm.killerandflash said:So glad I'm not at Lord's today, hanging around, not knowing if there will be play or not.
1pm is when the rain is due to return.
So we now have one hour of lovely sunshine with no cricket being played because it's officially lunch.
Why not move the lunch time so we can play some cricket when it's sunny.8 -
They've actually brought the lunch forward to 12:20. Apparently it's because they have work to do on the square before play can start, but it does look awful.blackpool72 said:

Sit and watch the pitch with no rain, bowl 11 balls and go off. What a farce from the umpires2

I can understnad it might not be fair to both side in some occasions e.g. on day 5 when the batting side are trying to bat out the day and want the rain beark and face less overs. But today is different and if both teams agree, why not maximise playing time?blackpool72 said:

Cracking delivery from Robinson there0

And another. 53-5.Rothko said:Cracking delivery from Robinson there0 -
Should NZ be dismissed for 91 or less in this innings, then this will be the lowest total number of runs, for 40 wickets taken, for any Test match anywhere for 72 years and the 14th lowest of the 2,622 matches played.1
-
I know it's been really favourable bowling conditions, but it's good to Robinson do well - seems like he's gone away and worked hard to get back in.1
-
England Lions were thrashed yesterday by 9 wickets. So, what do you do when that happens? You add Kent's Ben Dawkins and Ekansh Singh to the squad. Of course.2

Seven down as Conway's luck finally runs out on Nelson. 111-70

Nathan Smith has the most wickets in the match (9) and Glenn Phillips has the most runs (currently 74) . The tendency is not to give the award to a member of the losing side, so who gets it?0
-
24 dismissals either bowled or LBW which is a record number for Test matches in England0
-
Atkinson gets a fifer. England win by 116 runs.

Also, while the bowlers were really good, it was a dream pitch for the seam bowlers. Indeed an England seamer NOT taking wickets on that pitch would have had a poor game.0

Simon Duoll suggesting MCC will make an announcement about the pitch asap0

Disappointed with Bashir's performance once again, especially with the ball.8

What do you think the announcment might be that Simon Doull was alluding to on the tv coverage?Addick Addict said:24 dismissals either bowled or LBW which is a record number for Test matches in England
