Proctor out for Northants. Could do with Vasconcelos going too.

It used to be an achivement for a batter to get 2,000 runs in a season. Yes they played more matches but only four players in total in the two divisions have scored 1,000 runs to date. One of them is Bracey of Gloucs.

Good start by Kent. Winning the toss was important, and the early wicket will have the bowlers’ tails up.
If Kent do their job we needn’t worry about what happens at Lord’s.
I’m planning to go to Canterbury tomorrow. CoyK.

Sums up a lot of the pitches AA. They've gone from the COVID years where they seemed to be absolute roads and 1000+ a season was common to almost the opposite.

Vasconcelos is one of the four to score 1,000 runs this season and he is still there on 20*

    Crucially, Vasconcelos won't budge.

33-4. Not Vasconcelos unfortunately. Ferns, the wicket taker, is making his debut for Middlesex and has been playing all season for Tunbridge Wells in the Kent League.

If they do not get any batting points and we score 450, a draw is enough right?

Interesting that Northants won the toss and elected to bat first at Lord’s.

Glos 33-1. Need a wicket or two.

That's where your theory falls down!

Not if Northants end up winning and take three bowling bonus points and we only draw and take no more than six bonus points in doing so.

    Northants 46-5 and Vasconcelos out
  • Elsewhere, Gay is batting at 3 for Durham at Old Trafford and naughty boy Carse is back, but perhaps disappointingly  for the spectators neither Anderson or Stokes are playing.

Glos up to 54-1 Price and Boorman well entrenched it seems.

Ekansh isn't likely, at present anyway, to run through a side but there have been countless occasions when he's come on and broken a stand. Perhaps that's because he bowls a bit of "liquorice allsorts" but, by the same token, is capable of bowling a good and heavy ball. What he could probably do with is playing two or three months down under in Grade cricket and on wickets where line and length is everything.

We might only need 400 at this rate then dig the pitch up.
