So he says he motivates them and coaches them and it's on him, I wonder if he's put 2 and 2 together and realised that ever since he's seemingly frozen the club captain out, the side has lost a lot of it's form, desire and togetherness
But Docherty was shite in most games I have seen.

Very honest but pointless if he lines up with 5 at the back again and selects Macca in the 18, I am so confident this squad is more capable than our output, he just sucking all the life out of any creativity and we don't even press well anymore

    Let’s face it.

Bromley are gonna be our main rivals for next few years.
I expect them to beat us when we play them next season.

This building for the future is going good, we'll be giving league 1 a decent go next season.

Neither from what I could see on Sky.

Doesn't matter if he's shite, it's clearly the way he's handled it. Docherty is the heartbeat of the squad, look at all the videos they do in preseason, behind the scenes in training, the random videos where they ask players who would be the best Traitor etc, he's integral to the morale of the squad, and you piss him off and ostracise him, it's gonna have an impact on the other players

Yes, because they are all super fit in defence and Champ standard. Our back 5 today were, Clarke and Chambers, hardly played this season, Ramsay and Jones, semi crocked, and Gillesphey, barely league one. Then Burke comes on, also semi-crocked.
    Guardiola would struggle with that

Rightly or wrongly, Jones isn't going anywhere so we can bin off that line of thinking.

Three goals in the last 10 minutes but let's be honest they were knocking on the door before that. We were awful in the second half.

I'll focus more on the first 55 minutes because after the triple change and going 4-4-2 we were torn to shreds.

Jones got his starting 11 wrong. And then he got his first sub in Fullah on for Chambers massively wrong. I believe Anderson will turn out to be a decent player but he isn't keeping us in the division this season. And JRC is tidy on the ball but lightweight. This was the game for Cov and Doc and Jones bottled it.

TC looked a menace in the first half. His reward? LWB.

This was not the game for Fullah. He looked lost, lightweight, and constantly gave the ball away.

The less said about Ramsay, the better. He's been bang out of form since coming back from injury and it makes me wonder if he was rushed back.

As to our tactics, knocking it long and winning the knockdowns was never going to work against a 6'5" and 6'6" pair of CBs. Dykes worked hard but fed on less than scraps. We pressed OK at times but we just got pinned back. And that brings me to...

We cannot build from the back and that will get us relegated. If we can't find ways to win headers and seconds, we're fucked. But teams have sorted us out now and they can sit in a mid block, let us pass around at the back, and then wait for us to get scared and go back to the keeper or give it away and just hit us on the counter. This is more than just today, this has been going on for months. If we're going to take a bend don't break approach to defending then we need to sit deeper and defend better. Instead, we look caught between two stalls and just kind of float around the midfield until teams break us down.

All the things Jones' team did well to get us promoted have vanished. In the Championship, you need to be better tactically and Jones hasn't made the step up since losing his first choice XI.

Yes, we'll get relegated if we play like that every week. But fortunately, we won't play like that every week.

Someone else said it but Jones needs to be careful about what he says in the presser. "Look at where we were a year ago" isn't going to cut it.

LCB and CM are still needed in this window. But first, Jones needs to get the team on the training ground and work on patterns of play, zones of defending, and building from the back.

This team, and Jones, need a response against Leicester. Even if we don't win it, we need to look like a cohesive team.

Right, it's 7am, it's still - 5C out, I'm going back to bed. If you read all of my ramblings, thank you.
I agree we can't keep sacking managers but when you get the starting 11 wrong, and then the change at HT is wrong (putting you only attacking threat at LWB) and finally getting the 3 subs & tactics change wrong then you do have to question is the manager the right man to go into the 2nd half of the season.

Well done to the fans that went today.

First derby game I've missed in my life because I expected a bad result and didn't want to be kept behind when I'm already pissed off. Applaud you all for keeping the faith.

    Edit: or blind optimism.

Really cant put my finger on why we are so bad. At the start of the season (except QPR) we were competitive, played some nice football and created opportunities.

I went to Bristol City and Hull (as well as Sheff Utd) and we could easily have won on those former games. In the last half of this season we are so turgid. I expect to lose every game now. Even Derby were ordinary but had the extra needed to win that match.

Probably a bit of new division bounce and some late goals but we earnt that luck with our endeavour. The team look like their frightened to play football and almost look like they don't wont the responsibility of the ball and move it on to someone else to take responsibility.

Every week in the last few we have been wanting to move on to the next game to put it right. But it hasnt.
  • Totally depressed now and I put the blame totally on NJ. He chops and changes the team every game and we can all see that it is not going to work. He did the same last season and got lucky in finding a formation that worked and was even luckier that they all stayed injury free. We are now past half way in the season and he is still just randomly putting teams together and playing most of them out of position. We are utterly useless and our football is dire.
I have also been worried about the consistency of a lot of our players. Well I think we have found some consistency. We are consistently s**t.

You can do this revolutionary thing in like called 'adapting to the circumstances' you can see we have less personel there, so why persist with a game plan that relies so heavily on them? Guardiola probably wouldn't persist with a 5-3-2 where we knock the ball to literally no one for 3/4 of the game

So remove him as captain! He is simply not good enough.

Or are you saying the other 18 can’t perform without him?

Not saying Jones has not lost the dressing room, but Docherty’s absence is not why we are shite.

Our squad is weak and NJ is an average manager.

Before the game the most common prediction on here was 3/4-0 so it shouldn’t be a suprise but you do have to wonder wtf NJ is thinking with his selections lately. Why on earth would you start Anderson and Gillespie and then make a change that puts TC and Gillespie up against one of the top players in the league ?

    NO MORE UNFIT LOAN PLAYERS.

    SPEND SOME FUCKING MONEY.

THIS SQUAD WILL NOT STAY UP.

Is that clear enough ladies & gentlemen? It really is that simple.
No point. People will just tell you to be patient & it’s atebetter getting the right player in for the last 15 matches than someone from jan 1st.

Mate, seriously have a fucking day off

We need them out of the league so we might actually have a chance at an enjoyable season.
But that'd mean we'd have to put up with the crowing that they're in the Prem.

They did try, but they are just not good enough. TC the best of them, but his game hampered by having to play so deep. He must have covered every blade of grass.

I have just cursed my old man for making me support Charlton. This result is going to take a while to get over. I keep saying to myself it's only football but that doesn't help.

Same thing my son says to me. I tell him to blame his grandad because he took me when I was only 6 or 7 years old. Funny thing is, my old man worked at Elliotts in Deptford......where workers went to Millwall or Charlton. In a parallel universe I would be supporting the Blue side of SE London.

3 of their 5 goals against us this season have come in the dying moments. This is what being a team and desire is all about.

None of the players seem to have any self belief anymore and look terrified when they get the ball. Players don’t turn into bad players overnight, something has happened. Not sure Jones is capable of turning it around, players don’t seem to want to play for him any more.

We are going down unless large sums of money is spent and potentially a change of manager.

We are not capable of competing at this level unless everyone is fit and playing out of their skin which they were for a handful of games at the beginning of the season when other teams hadn't got up to speed.

That was atrocious - by the end they were laughing at us and our ineptitude.

Too late now to spend the money. Relegation nailed on, cannot see how we win unless teams go down to 8 or 9 players.
  • At the beginning of the season where we played well we had a balanced midfield of Carey , Docherty and Coventry. Unfortunately we changed this and have since not got control of the midfield. Anderson works really hard and wins a lot of ball but gives the ball away to easy and RC ( apart from 2 games ) has been awful - walks around and points to people all the time but has no pace and does nothing . When Fullah comes on - a bit of headless chicken . Let’s hope we can get Carey , Doc and Coventry back in the team
