Predicted us to get well beat so humble pie for me today. One hot day doesn't make a summer but we must move on and take some points from our next few home games.
Well done keep it going.3 -
Extended (10 minutes) highlights from Leicester's YouTube.3

Not much to add, thought we were deserving of the win. We looked a bit nervy for a spell, that's going to happen with us, but we were far more like us. The confidence that we had 1st part of the season will grow again. We had that balance back. We also looked physically stronger and more robust with the new signings.
Chambers looks like he will be some player. Lovely 1st touch and cracking deliveries from the lad.
Clarke is an upgrade too.
The main thing I just want to say is how Godden looked, considering as he's only just coming back. He looks sharp, fit and explosive again. He will definitely score a few before seasons end. As the saying goes, he's like a new signing!16 -
That’s a fair comment from their perspective. They were at home to a team that last season were two divisions below them, and who came into the game near the bottom of the form table.AFKABartram said:Absolutely love this stonker on their forum
”2-0 loss to Charlton at home is about as bad as it gets in terms of one off results I am afraidThe performance was an improvement and the sending off was a massive problem I do admit, but then I say again, Charlton, at home, not exactly the most testing fixture on the fixtures list is it, and we have nothing to show for it.”
To borrow a phrase from Tony Mowbray, they should be beating teams like Charlton.9 -

Senility is a terrible thing5

Missed all the first half thanks to a 7 hour power outage here in rural Thailand.
Second half, we didn't look great TBH.
But from what I did see, we appear to have added some real strength and character to the team. Signings in the mould of Danny Mills and Eddie Youds.
At times, in previous games we had, to put it unkindly, too many bottle jobs, players whose first instinct was playing the ball backwards, weak in the tackle etc.
Now we have some confident players who like to bomb forward.
That kind of attitude is contagious.5 -
Great post fanny, how’s the tingle doing…😉Fanny Fanackapan said:A quick word from me just to say that today was one of those when we rejoice in being Addicks.
We are pretty tough cookies who've been through thick & thin supporting this old football club - well, we have to be - but I guess we're stronger for taking the downs as well as the ups like supporters of the Beautiful Game across the world.
Today was one of those ups & boy, did we need it ! After last weekend's "embarrassment", we were owed one & the lads didn't let us down.
Following the okey cokey of the last few days, on paper, the starting eleven looked a damn sight more balanced than it's been for a while but the new additions to Nathan's squad had to show their worth from the off.
I would hazard a guess that no-one who'd travelled over land & sea to Leicester today was disappointed.
We now have the players we're counting on to keep us away from the bottom three and we have the manager to get the best out of them.
I'll admit to having a "wobble" of late with concerns & doubts swirling around in my old head & the sat nav on standby for the likes of Blackpool & Plymouth again.
But today seems to have been a turning point in our season. Famous last words which could haunt me come May. But I saw enough this afternoon to convince me that Nathan will ensure, by hook or by crook, that the Titanic will steer well clear of danger & that we'll survive to face another season in tier 2....I'm liking the new arrivals, especially young Chambers, and The Ginger One appears to have rediscovered his mojo. Long may it last.
You could say, Fanny's keeping the faith.
Onwards & upwards !2 -

Watching various highlight packages on YouTube this morning and noticing how Coady after each major incident (goal, foul, sub) is getting in the ear of 3/4 players either geeing up or talking tactics.Particularly after each goal he’s quick to get to both the scorer and assister to celebrate with them before going off to talk to one of the youngsters. From yesterday it does seem he has a lot to offer beyond his obvious technical ability on the ball. Could be really valuable in the coming weeks37

I noticed the same. Jones has brought in real experience and players who've been there and done it in CC and Lyndon Dykes. Then added much need balance in Clarke and Chambers, both goals coming from their crosses. Promising.TheHerminator said:Watching various highlight packages on YouTube this morning and noticing how Coady after each major incident (goal, foul, sub) is getting in the ear of 3/4 players either geeing up or talking tactics.Particularly after each goal he’s quick to get to both the scorer and assister to celebrate with them before going off to talk to one of the youngsters. From yesterday it does seem he has a lot to offer beyond his obvious technical ability on the ball. Yeah, it's much needed. Also found he tended to be near the ref (I presume intensionally) on few occasions and shared his thoughts. A great asset to have.TheHerminator said:Watching various highlight packages on YouTube this morning and noticing how Coady after each major incident (goal, foul, sub) is getting in the ear of 3/4 players either geeing up or talking tactics.Particularly after each goal he’s quick to get to both the scorer and assister to celebrate with them before going off to talk to one of the youngsters. From yesterday it does seem he has a lot to offer beyond his obvious technical ability on the ball. I was glad to see Doc back. He does give the midfield energy and effort. Leaburn is developing into something special IMO. I think there was a reaction to last week but the sending off helped us. But it was a clear sending off that wasn't even debatable. With the quality of player they have I expected more from them, even with 10 men. They are clearly fragile as we have been and are hopefully getting out of that state. It is incredible how big a part confidence plays in football. Sometimes you need a game like that to turn that tide.10

I feel like Leicester are a team who do us a favour when we need it. I remember in the first Powell season we got our first win off them and then a huge away win when we were looking over our shoulders at relegation again that same season. I think they were our first win the following season as well.mascot88 said:

I still remember sending them down years ago -
I think JJ dominated on the left wing.
2-0 I think.2 -
We were hard done by in the home game after completely dominating them. This was justice16

Coady would do my head in if he was on my 5 a side team 😂8

Then walked over to their keeper and grabbed the ball off him to get ready for the restart.6 -
I think it would have been justice if we won 1-0 after being dominated. The right score yesterday was 3 nil and they can thank the ref it wasn't.AberystwythAddick said:We were hard done by in the home game after completely dominating them. This was justice3 -

He came on at the wrong time really though, when Leicester were pushing, and we didnt have as much control as what we had done, so am sure we'll see plenty of improvement from him yet.2 -
Had a random memory pop into my head from our last championship season. I think we played QPR at home in an evening game and Pratley scored from a corner?TheHerminator said:Watching various highlight packages on YouTube this morning and noticing how Coady after each major incident (goal, foul, sub) is getting in the ear of 3/4 players either geeing up or talking tactics.Particularly after each goal he’s quick to get to both the scorer and assister to celebrate with them before going off to talk to one othe youngsters. From yesterday it does seem he has a lot to offer beyond his obvious technical ability on the ball. I remember reading a blog from a QPR fan that described Pratley as deciding he was gonna ref the game from the moment the teams walked out and that the ref was happy to let him do it.
I can see similar comments coming about Coady. Its what you need when you're in a battle and it's actually helpful of it doesn't come from the captain.9 -
So, the big question yet to be answered: did Carey mean that first touch? Cos if he did, that's one of the best goals by a Charlton player...ever?12
-
In 1986-87, when we were in the 1st Division relegation fight to end all relegation fights, Lennie bought in Paul Miller and Garth Crooks. Two proven, big match players. When we conceded the equaliser at Elland Road in the play off, there was still about half hour left and the place was jumping...Miller and Crooks calmly went round a few of the lads and got them focused and we survived to fight another day.TheHerminator said:Watching various highlight packages on YouTube this morning and noticing how Coady after each major incident (goal, foul, sub) is getting in the ear of 3/4 players either geeing up or talking tactics.Particularly after each goal he’s quick to get to both the scorer and assister to celebrate with them before going off to talk to one of the youngsters. From yesterday it does seem he has a lot to offer beyond his obvious technical ability on the ball. It's what top, experienced professionals can do....and Coady could be our man for the current situation. It could be the shrewdest signing of the lot.13 -

A fan rag ( I think) said they were the better team and deserved more. Bar the missed penalty, Kaminski only made one save!
For a change, I think we actually controlled the game quite well. After a poor run of form, nerves will be present but thought saw it out really well.4 -
It might have been a fair comment but the geezer has apparently managed to wipe their home defeat to Oxford a week ago from his memory. That was a loss to a two bob outfit who sat second bottom and well adrift of safety. We may not be any great shakes at this level as yet but we are surely a notch or two up on poxy Oxford United.SporadicAddick said:

We also have a 3 0 win at Portman Road on our 2025/26 CV. So our Foxy friend is well wide of the mark.1 -
Surprisingly little has been said about that goal so far. The three touches were incredible- Clarke's ball, Carey's dink and then Carey's finish past the on rushing keeperLeuth said:So, the big question yet to be answered: did Carey mean that first touch? I loved Miles impersonating Michael Flatley in the build up to the second goal.3

I reckon Carey tried to control it and it jumped up. He had the awareness to pick it up again quickly and finish superbly, but the pessimist in me thinks he probably didn’t mean to knock it over the defender.I really don’t want to detract from what is technically a brilliant finish, but if he meant that it’s Messi levels of brilliance I reckon9
