Collins Sichengze continues his career at Charlton

Former Vojvodina defender Collins Sichengze continues his career at English Charlton Athletic.

The Kenyan international arrived in Vojvodina in the summer of 2024, initially on loan from Swedish AIK, and after excellent performances in the European qualifiers, the "old lady" bought out his contract.

Over the past year and a half, Sichengze has been an indispensable member of Vojvodina's defense, which is confirmed by the fact that he has played 52 games in the "old lady" jersey and scored one goal.

Vojvodina Football Club wishes Collins Sichengze good luck and success in the rest of his career.
That clears up any uncertainty about Wayne Rooney's next managerial appointment

Kenyans are good runners so Conor Coady better not beat him at sprints !

This is so left field and is he a Left footed CB 🤔

    Welcome BFK .
Collins Sichenje will be loved if he can emulate Naby on a good day as opposed to Naby on a bad day.

Get a feeling he is going to be absolutely brilliant or an absolute calamity
From what I’ve heard from footballing people who are aware of him, it might be both and often in the same game or in the same moment

From what I’ve seen of him he looks very much like the type of defender Jones wants at RCB. Carries the ball very well, good box defender making blocks, physically strong and athletic profile. Young enough that we can develop him and hopefully iron out the mistakes

Watching some clips and he's very tall but wirey. His phsyique reminds me a bit of Panutche Camara but with a bit more height

Looks very elegant for a centreback and pacey, the one thing that stood out for me though is he doesn't mind getting his head in the way of thunderc*nt shots from outside the box.

The NTT20 blog positive about him

    16:43 - “Highly promising” Andy Watson on Addick’s CB…

    🟢 Collins Sichenje (CB) - [Vojvodina - Charlton] - Undisclosed (Rumoured £2m)
Keeping the goals out has to be the priority for Charlton and Nathan Jones. To this end, whilst this may seem an expensive deal for the club, they have clearly seen something in Sichenje that they are willing to invest in.

This has to work short term as well as long term though, so what is it that has impressed so much?

First of all, there is the age and minutes factor, as Ali might say “What is the best ability? Availability” and Sichenje has played a lot of minutes this season and at 22 this shows that he is already trusted in a competitive top tier environment.

He is very athletic, a good height, and there is no language barrier.

Now for the doubts. On my GBE Expert Global Recruitment system he ranks #30 in the Serbian top flight for the Stopper/Aerial Monster profile, and #36 for a Wide Central Defender, and they are his best roles. The Serbian Super Liga has only 16 teams, so it is not a great ranking.

However, even as a self-confessed data nerd I would say that a data system based primarily on event data isn’t the best way to judge a central defender, and his physical metrics are way above average in a league where duels are high in volume.

I think this is a highly promising player and he could make a difference to Charlton’s survival chances.

He's going to get on well with Lloyd, at 3:56 in this video there's a shot careering to his chest that he leans down to head away for no reason

Highlights we ok, but that soundtrack is quite possibly the most uplifting and dramatic music ever to accompany a poo.

Hope he doesn't bring too many coffee bean waves from out fans.

A bit left field, but I guess we can't afford the English based equivalent players, with known local pedigree. The Premier League (and Championship) have scouted globally for decades, so maybe it's our time to do the same as we return to successful times.

Welcome Collins. I hope he's fit, hungry, and skillful, but mostly better than what we have!

AFC Leopards will be ruing the day they let him go
Even Charlton could knock the spots off them?

    Beat me to it.

Our first step into exotic foreign signings. Everything suggests he adds pace, height and strength, hopefully he's a beast.

Will be interesting to see how much he plays this season.

Young Collins may be a decent CB, but ...... Nathan Jones is going to play him in midfield.

You heard it here first  :)

Interesting signing. No idea what he’s like but has missed 3 spells of the Serbian season in 2025/2026 all down to suspensions (2 Reds and an acclamation of yellow cards)

Time will tell if this a masterstroke or a punt that fails to deliver

Does that mean Ramsey is not going to sign a new contract?

Hence Jones telling us he's brought the summer budget forward.
