West Ham or spurs to come down would be great, that win yesterday will give forest a major confidence boost.

Wouldn’t say most have nothing to play for.
Only Wolves have nothing to play for.

Chelsea, Villa, Everton can all get top 5.

Brighton and Sunderland could get Europe depending on how far down the table Europa and Conference will be this season.

Given that City have won the league cup, and probably one of them/Arsenal/Chelsea will win the FA Cup, the European places will go down as far as 8th.

If so then every team down as far as Bournemouth in 13th (4 points off 8th right now) has something to play for. Then every team from Leeds down is fighting to avoid the drop.

So it's only Palace in 14th plus Burnley and Wolves who right now have nothing to play for.

I think Spurs' problems go way beyond the manager. Yes Tudor is out of his depth and is not a good appointment but this is a side that only got 38 points from 38 games last season. So that's 68 points from 69 games across two years. They've lost 37 games out of 69. That's not on Tudor, there's something seriously wrong within the club.

Most of their players look like they can't be arsed and want out. And what's the best way out? To get relegated so the club have to sell them.

Looking forward to going there next year 😂 they'll need all the away fans they can squeeze in as most home fans will stay away!

At an estimated £1m per point, every team has something to play for, all season.

I'm not sure that is the case. Watching yesterday Spurs were trying, they were the more dominant team in possession, although they didn't create lots of chances. Conceding before half time was a gut punch for them, and then allowed Notts Forest increased freedom to play on the counter.

The challenge for Spurs is more a lack of identity and tactics, partly due to the change in manager and their injuries. Now there is a lack of confidence so when they concede, it gets harder for them.

What strikes me is they haven't tried to shore up the team and stop themselves being beaten, before sorting out the attack. That was always Curbs' approach after a losing run.

They'll get relegated at Chelsea, like when they went there and drew to give Leicester the title.

Tudor will be gone this week, I believe he did not do the after match press interview.
It will be very interesting to see who they appoint to get them out of this mess.  Whoever they take on will be getting an enormous bonus to keep them up.

They’ve got no chance with that fixture list. If they are sensible about it they would try and get it over before the Chelsea game. Getting relegated by them at WHL (or whatever it’s called these days) wont be pleasant for them (for ever after).

His father passed away so he went to be with his family. I do agree that he will be gone by the end of the week.

Spurs have a horrendous list of injured players and I believe it was added to yesterday.

Palace have a tough run in....unfortunately they probably already have enough points to stay up.

This list is missing Leeds at home and some of the games are the wrong way around. They have:

    Sunderland A
    Brighton H
    Wolves A
    Villa A
    Leeds H
    Chelsea A
    Everton H

I still think Leeds could be in trouble and could be the team that comes down. West Ham & Spurs have better squads IMO

I'd argue a lot of teams would be extra motivated to help send Spurs down as it would be quite the scalp. Arguably only Wolves might not want the competition next year.

Edit it's also a world cup season so even players with "nothing" as such to play for still have to consider maintaining form to get into squads so quite a few who might be "on the beach" in a normal season may well not be this year, Almost a perfect storm really.

The conjecture on here by many is amazing, so Im going to have a go.

Spurs are just as likely to go down as any of the other sides in the bottom 6.

And i for one would love it. love it.

If Spurs can get a win in the next few games, I'll find myself agreeing with you. But the fact they haven't won a single league game in 2026 so far says they're going down.

"Better squads" is up there as one of my pet peeves in football lingo.

    It means absolutely fuck all.

Leicester's squad is "too good to go down" and has been all season.

People keep saying the same thing about Spurs.

Doesn't matter how "good" the squad supposedly is if they can't actually win any football matches does it?!

I can't help feeling there's a bit of "whoosh" here.

I don't think m'learned colleague is saying the Spuds are staying up, more that Wolves are so far adrift of safety they're all-but down and Burnley aren't much better placed.

At least Spurs have a realistic chance of survival based on being above the line right now and having games left ...

... although that "realistic chance" is negated by having the backbone of a jellyfish. They collapse quicker than England's batting line-up against the Windies' pace quartet in the '80s.

  • I can’t believe there is still over two months until the end of the Premier League season. The Championship play off final takes place on Saturday 23rd May the day before the end of the Premier League season
