Have TC, Leaburn Dykes Kelman eand Godden we don’t need Antonio. Just be a complete waste of wages
Apart from Godden, none of the others score with any consistency, just look at the goal tally’s of each player.

A lack of goals has been a problem all season and we can’t just rely on keeping clean sheets.

There is no such thing as "pay as you play"

There are minimum wage levels.  Contracts can be weighted towards appearances but that can prove expensive if they play every week.

Anyway, U21 game this afternoon. Team news should be out at 12.30
Is that true for the Championship?

Or are you really suggesting there is a minimal (relatively) wage agreed plus bonuses?
There is a minimum amount you have to pay professional players. That’s the benefit of having a union
    What figure is that?
    £13.85 p/hr in London.
So if he only plays 15 mins £2.075p per game. Good deal!?

Because we don't create any chances for our strikers.

Apparently he’s been told he only gets paid if he plays. He was at training today when I went down there. Looks big and strong. Why not take a chance.

Eight points off the playoffs. A fired up Antonio with a point to prove. It's happening isn't it
And then we get stuffed by Millwall in the playoffs.

Dykes is 30, Coady 32.  Antonio is 35, has not played for 14 months following a broken leg and broken down in training at Leicester.  I'm glad it ain't my money.

... mind you, if he gets the goal that keeps us up - what price then?
    Antonio is 36 next month.
So he is actually 35…not 35.
Part of me hopes Golfie doesn’t reply ever.
    Fixed.

Maybe it would be better to suggest we don’t create enough chances. Plus I’m not convinced that those strikers possess the skill that Godden has, to convert chances that come his/their way.

I assume the postponement of the U21 match is likely to delay any decision?

Doubt it, if he’s been training playing half a youth game would
    not be the deciding factor

I actually signed him on football manager at the start of the season and he returned double figures. Make of that what you will
    Same. It’s happening.

Just walked into the bookies and asked for odds on Charlton beating Millwall in the playoffs. Turns out ill be able to pay off my mortgage in May.

Dykes was knackered in the latter stages on Wednesday but we had nobody on the bench who could come and play his role. If there's money in the budget to make sure we're not in that situation again, why not. Also, don't know what we'd do if both Dykes and Leaburn dropped out.
Maybe, but is was the 81st minute when he set up the goal
Just because he was knackered doesn’t mean he can’t  win the ball. The point is that the longer the game went on, he was less affective and we didn’t have any option to replace him for fresh legs
He seemed remarkably fit and mobile to me, given he has not had game time. So far I would say he looks the best proper 9 we have had for many years

Disagree. I think that is exactly what we do. We only need to score once to win. Even we can manage that.

If Charlton Life had been around in 1940, the spelling police would be all over this, when not slagging off Sam Bartram for making an error.

He's no doubt earned a few quid in his career, salaries that would be way out of our league.
I would think we're not paying him telephone numbers and it will be on a pay as you play basis/bonus related.

I think he could be very handy in the run in.

At the minimum, he could come on as a sub and cause absolute mayhem.

    Could be our wildcard.

Much later on, many managers would not allow their players to drive high-powered sports cars. Alex Ferguson for example would not permit players under the age of 25 to drive anything marginally dangerous. TVRs in particular were frowned upon not just because they were frequently described as "psychotic" or "undrivable" by the untrained, making them a high risk for accidents. I also heard that the very heavy clutches on TVRs were considered a further risk factor for injuries!

That said, on a trip to the old TVR factory in Blackpool, I was shown a Cerbera they were building for David Beckham.  (It did not yet have any interior trim and there were some very uncomplimentary messages about Mr & Mrs Beckham written with a Sharpie on the interior of the glass fibre body shell that was awaiting its Wilton carpet.)

Agreed, it's the lack of wingback cover, and the drop in quality from Bell to Gillesphey which killed us mid season. Now we have Bell back and a proper left wingback, we look like a competitive team again.

Part of match fitness is regaining pace which takes a while. I doubt we will get a fraction of the West Ham Antonio, but he has so much nous to do damage for 15/20.

Yes, but Henry was only 7 at the time. You can excuse the odd error at that age.

Interesting that in 1940, driving a motor-car was considered to be a "pastime".

He is a very talented player that could conjure up a goal out of nothing, making him a valuable wild card coming off the bench.

I hope that he comes to us, although a clause in the contract insisting that he gets the bus to the training ground could be in order!
