Concrete talks are about money, is it the minimum wage, or the London minimum wage or the London living wage. I hope we do not go as far as the latter, that would be far too extravagant.

Was hoping we would consider him at beginning of the window, even if he can only get a couple of goals (remember the implication of lyle not playing) … could make a difference between 7th and 6th place

I can always knock up a bit of muck if that would help to get the deal over the line

I used to work for Blue Circle in the post-war years when cement was a controlled material. I was asked to resign after dispatching a railway wagon of cement to the wrong station. By bad luck, the clerk of works there was desperate for cement (it was a scarce commodity at that time) and started using it. They suspected I had taken a back-hander, but I was just careless. (I still think it is stupid for stations in Wiltshire and Derbyshire to have very similar names.

Are non-concrete talks when we ring the player's agent and say "We're not really looking to sign anyone, but if we were then Antonio might be the sort of player we'd possibly sign", and he replied "No worries, Antonio is not even sure he wants to play football anymore, but if he did then Charlton might be the sort of club he could possibly see himself joining maybe"

Think you can keep that to yourself.

West Ham supporting mate of mine reckons he was way past his best even before the accident. Underwhelmed.

It’s funny because my West Ham mate really rates him!

A player not good enough anymore (in the super fickle, think they're way better and bigger than they actually are, West Ham universe) is completely different to being good enough for a middling championship club

The thing is, I have no idea how injured Leaburn is, he wasn’t even on the bench in the last match, if he’s going be out for a couple of months, then it’s a no brainer?
Jones said Miles will be back for the Portsmouth game.
    Which season ?

Found our he has only been training with us for 2 days, not sure how close or away he is to match fitness
Antonio recently spent a month at Leicester training  with a view to signing for them, but picked up a minor muscle injury (as players typically do after a long spell out).

"He has looked good and has been a good lad to have around as well," Cifuentes told BBC East Midlands Today.

Then In January Cifuentes said, "Michail got a setback in training. It's a small injury. It's a pity. That probably means that we will not be able to continue the process we started," Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester.

"The window is open. We're going to try to see what other options are available."

Doesn’t that sort of suggest that a second chance with Charlton would be more financially amenable to agree  I liked the mention of Ricardo Fuller by someone, obviously not the same circumstances but a prime example of what a great goal scorer can bring to a game.
Me too, legend as far as I'm concerned. Was still playing non league at 41 years old purely for the love of the game.

Ricardo Fuller was very keen to sign up for another season but SCP was told to let him go as there was budget for better. That was a lie and we ended up with Sordell and Church.

If Charlton Life had been around in 1940, the spelling police would be all over this, when not slagging off Sam Bartram for making an error.

  • What’s not to like about this?

The window is shut, so it’s not like we can go out and sign anyone that is up to speed.

None of us are paying for his wages!

Have him on the bench and if he can come on and grab us an equaliser or a winner it will be will worth it!

If he does sign hope it’s on a pay as you play kind of deal really don’t want another Rousillon situation.
Would like to think we’re trying to tie down the likes of Ramsay Edwards Jones Coventry etc instead of putting attention on picking up a 5th striker.
Need to focus on getting Kelman TC Leaburn more championship ready as well instead of finding another reason to not keep them out.
Were 7 points clear w a game in hand we should be safe w or without Antonio
