Currently a pundit for TNT on the Grimsby pitch, would that be happening if he was with us?
    Yes
Ok, well if so let’s hope he’s 100% focused on still being a footballer.
We have a long history of players finishing their careers with us whilst starting their media work - John Solako, Mark Bright, John Barnes, Jimmy Floyd H spring to mind

With varying degrees of success. All I said was I hope if he were to sign we aren’t just a last payday and he’s fully committed to playing rather than media.🤷🏻‍♂️

They said if he’s fit enough it’s good, but hope he can jobshare as well as Johnnie Jackson and doesn’t let the media work effect his football.
  • My sources tell me Antonio has failed his medical.

Our team uncovered a catastrophic leg injury from just over a year ago. No deal.

I saw [insert players name] in a supermarket once. Not sure he was 100% focused on playing football whilst eyeing up the Maris Pipers.
    Weren't Matt Piper was it?

Interesting read however perhaps we might tone down the car crash / driving jokes. The crash is described as near fatal and resulted in multiple fractures and weeks in hospital. He was stuck in the wreckage for 45 mins and had to be cut out. Not in the slightest bit funny, even as gallows humour.

If we can get him fit and the price is right this could be a good signing, especially given the positions he can play. A bit of a punt though clearly.
I was hit by another car that came from the other side of the road on the A13, they had to cut my car apart around me. If anyone could find a joke about that, I wouldn’t mind in the slightest.

He's been with us around 4/5 days and its sunday, I'm sure there's still plenty of time for it to go through.
Plenty of time?  He's gonna be 36 soon and then 37.

Maybe he can't sign, because he was already set to sign, but because he has set, he can't actually move his hands.

    I'll get my coat......

All this talk of concrete, I live near Battle and there is an aggregate supplier called William The Concreter. Fact.

A note of caution. I used to be ambidexterous until I broke my arm. After that, I'd lost too much mobility to ever be the same. Yes, it was a bad break, requiring surgery, but it doesn't sound as bad as his leg. He may never be anywhere near the same player as he was. He may never be able to pass a medical ever again...

Charlton Athletic medicals are a tad different from many clubs ?
As long as you can touch your toes when sitting down you pass with flying colours 💪🏼
How did Chucks ever pass one then?
Think we outsource them to the Labour Party 😀😉

It was Simon Church. Did he take them out of the bin and arrange them on the floor in various formations, 3-5-2, 4-3-3, etc.? If so, I would say he was very focused on football, though more on his future career in coaching than playing. If he arranged red onions to oppose them as well, that would confirm it.

Chap in the article says he was rejected by Leicester. Was that that the case?

Apparently picked up a injury while training with them.
So Charlton may be the best place for him.

My understanding was that he was training with Leicester and being considered for a short term deal but got injured and they then backed off. That seems to be the received wisdom. If he was “rejected “ because they didn’t think him worth a punt then I’d expect our coaches to pick up on that as well. Unless he has other irons in the fire I’d expect him to sign today or tomorrow latest. Will be hardly worth the effort for all parties if this drags out much longer. If we want him we need him asap.
