We got a 25k crowd last year for this but looking on our ticket site, we don't seem to be selling at a rate that will get near to that - looks more like a standard saturday. Now i don't really get where all the people came from last year but why the drop off this year? Any ideas?1

Obviously no half and half scarves on offer, surely?1

They put loads of effort into the marketing last year. “Welcome to London” was everywhere. Guess we haven’t bothered this year to play up to the Wrexham factor and try and fill the ground with touristsDOUCHER said:We got a 25k crowd last year for this but looking on our ticket site, we don't seem to be selling at a rate that will get near to that - looks more like a standard saturday. I would've thought that was a rhetorical question because many football goers want to be entertained and I know the result is the be all and end all for you and many others plus me on most occasions but not everyone wants the slow traffic journeys or the cancelled train journey to the Valley to watch "Turgid" football.
I and others haven't become all Spursy but a modicum of basic passing on the ground in the opponents half by CAFC will help to make football fans come to the valley.
I do give Nathan leeway in our 1st season back but giving the ball straight back in this division is risky business.3 -
Tourists all around the ground and a mad advertising campaign (Goldbridge invited to do his normal bollocks from one of the exec boxes) which ended with half and half scarves being sold in the Club Shop (Made £3k from that according to Old Charlie Boy)DOUCHER said:We got a 25k crowd last year for this but looking on our ticket site, we don't seem to be selling at a rate that will get near to that - looks more like a standard saturday. I think you're forcing your own issues with our 'turgid' football and massively overestimating the average football fan's knowledge of our style of play.soapboxsam said:DOUCHER said:We got a 25k crowd last year for this but looking on our ticket site, we don't seem to be selling at a rate that will get near to that - looks more like a standard saturday. We were a mid-table league one side at the time and got 25.7k in for Wrexham; we averaged 15.2k fans for the season. We didn't just find 10k new fans for one week, lots of casual fans and neutrals probably came as a result of a marketing drive that hasn't been rerun this year.

I think there may be some changes, with Coady for sure but there were doubts Luke Chambers and Lloyd Jones as well. That being the case, we finished with a back four and may well start that way if Chambers and Jones don't make it. Nathan Jones and a back four and middle four are strange bedfellows but he may be forced into, at least a diamond shape in midfield with Leaburn and Dykes spearheading the forward line. Form says an away win but I think its another point.0

Think we're gonna get absolutely spanked. 0-3 defeat to help keep the Welsh fairytale going.0

Obviously want a win but not sure we can do it. In the end though if we give it a good go and kick a few of the sheep shaggers up in the air I will be happy with a draw.2

Collins to start then?redbuttle said:Obviously want a win but not sure we can do it. In the end though if we give it a good go and kick a few of the sheep shaggers up in the air I will be happy with a draw.4 -
After Tuesday I worry about the next installment of communist football coming our way.Lloyd Jones is a big loss, Conor Coady isn’t. They’re doing well. Need to be up for it and we absolutely need to show more on the ball.Yet again we need a response from a preceding performance1

Think we win this if we score first2

4-0 to them.
Mouse, Pacino, Dicaprio and the Green Lantern with the goals, assisted by Free Willy, Hanks, Pitt and Julia Roberts.17 -

Jones saying we have a full quota in defence other than Edwards..... so suggests Chambers and Burke are good to go.
I think I would actually go with Ramsay RWB, Collins / Burke / Bell in the middle, and Chambers LWB.
Think we need Burkes height at the back if we lose Jones.4 -

“Free hits” is the new “would make a good squad player”LargeAddick said:
Not this free hits bollocks again. No game is a free hit. Every game is worth the same three points. We are more likely to get a win against Wrexham or Birmingham than we are away to Oxford.Pedro45 said:If we keep them to under five I think I'll probably be happy...
This one, and against Birmingham are free hits; the one that matters and from which we must get points is at Oxford.

No Lloyd Jones = no points.3

I don't like to see it, but Wrexham are flying. We'd be second favourites anyway, but if Lloydy is missing (as seems likely and would probably be prudent to give him a rest anyway) then defeat looks even more likely.
However, Southampton are also flying and we got a point there, so you never know.
I had this one down as a defeat in my results estimator for the rest of the season (my estimate is we'll finish with 52 points, btw but we're a point ahead of schedule) so I'd absolutely take a point. Suspect NJ will be thinking similarly so we can expect to see more of the dogged, low quality, defence-first football that we've been playing since Millwall. I fear it won't be as successful this time though.
0 - 2 to Wrexham.0 -
0-2 defeat0

Would prefer Lloyd to have a rest for this one. He's a Colossus for us and I'd sooner have him for at least 7/8 or more remaining games than risk it with him clearly soldiering on for the last few games.7

2 - 1 Charlton. UTA.0

If we park the bus I can see a 0-2 defeat……come on Nathan let’s have a go boyo !1

First of 3 matches against in-form sides. If we struggled against WBA who hadn't won since xmas & scored once in 5 games I shiver to think what Wrexham will do to us.
1-3. And that's being kind.0 -
Because we are playing crap. And its more expensive than last year.DOUCHER said:We got a 25k crowd last year for this but looking on our ticket site, we don't seem to be selling at a rate that will get near to that - looks more like a standard saturday. It's my birthday on Sat. I could spend £35 for a ticket in the AC Stand (plus £1.50 booking fee) and then £1.75 each way on the bus. Instead I'm putting the £40 towards a Chinese takeaway- at least that will be more appetising.3 -
Seems clear that we are better at frustrating good sides than breaking down poor ones. Southampton are in great form and we played well for a point.golfaddick said:First of 3 matches against in-form sides.
