  • Can see the video now Campbells new contract then he says I have a old face to join me and JRS appears in the away kit

Reckon you'd struggle to get TC to agree to that 😂

    Too many words for TC
We have enquired about Okonkwo amongst various other keepers as an option if TK does go, although we are a distance from that happening, personally think it’s more likely TK stays this season
    Boo
  • Could get TC to say

I said “I’d only sign if you bring my friend in”

then in Eddie Hearn style Jim Rodwell says “oh go on then”

    then Rak Sakyi walks in

They have the same goal celebration too

  • Wait so just to get my head round this. There was a car at The Valley with a private number plate which has the word Sak in it.

It was confirmed by people that this was not JRS rather the women’s club chairman. So JRS is not coming.

But now someone on Twitter is saying he is signing and we’re talking about him being a loan or not
Yes. And he may or may not have asked a goalkeeper coach to get him a kebab.

    Classic.
  • What does source at the ground mean, I guess this was the usual wind up thing?

Means he saw the car thing on Facebook and wanted to feel special so claimed to be itk
  • What sort of fee would Onkonkwo command if signed on a perm? 3m?

Im sure he said “the smell of burgers, mums, kids…”

Own up - who’s sniffing mums and kids at the Valley??
  • I think it's all stemming from the car park picture still.
  • What sort of fee would Onkonkwo command if signed on a perm? 3m?
    Probably £2-3m I would guess.

As if Jim Rodwell would let someone else have the limelight.

They just churn and I wouldn't be surprised if it were significantly less. I spoke to someone who's a season ticket holder there and has followed them for 50 years and the fan base think they only have 4/5 who might cut the prem and they will just lose the rest at that stage and replace them.

That’s true of almost any side that gets promoted to the Prem, to be fair. Also, whatever your feelings on how they’ve got there, that’s a pretty impressive position to be in after only one season in the Championship and only 3 back in the football league, full stop.

I’d say it’s unlikely they even have 4/5 that could do it in the prem, it’s a bit gulf in quality between these two leagues and Wrexham have only been in it for one year!
  • I'm not a critical at all. Far from it I have positive feelings towards them. I remember seeing Dai Davis and Joey Jones at the old Valley. Much of my family are from North Wales, and I lived there for many years and was in the Fire Service there for a long while. All the money in Welsh sport has gone to the south, so it's refreshing :)

Amazing what you can do having Multimillionaire Hollywood A listers as owners, shrug. People say it's what the club has done, but it's the owners that have done it really, if they hadn't bought the club it wouldn't have happened.

At risk of derailing the otherwise laser focussed transfer rumours thread, I  think that’s a perfectly legitimate way to achieve success.

Some owners bought the club with a vision. They invested some of their own money and leveraged their position and contacts in the entertainment industry to create a TV show and grow the club’s revenue and fan base. Yes it’s all happened very quickly, but is it really any different to how any club succeeds? The source of the revenue is different  but, as an overall process, is it that different to a Brighton or Bournemouth or Brentford? Fundamentally those clubs all built off significant investments in players and infrastructure which is all Wrexham have done. Those three also spent their money very well which, you have to admit, Wrexham have also done. I would say they’re ahead of Birmingham City right now; another club trying to fast track their way to the top flight with spending but who started from a stronger position, albeit a bit later.

It all has a wiff of new money about it, which always gets poo-pooed in England, and I find Ryan Reynolds a bit irritating, but the most annoying thing about the whole thing is the way the football media fawn over them and we’re constantly shown cut always to the executive box, the owners are in, during televised games. Annoying as that is, it’s not really the club’s fault, albeit media interest is something they need to feed their business model.

I do question if it’s truly sustainable over the long term as, if they become established in the Prem, then their show will have kind of reached its end game and will probably dwindle in viewership. However, overall, what they’ve done is actually very smart and I would say it’s a bit more organic and legitimate than just having  a mega wealthy individual or oil state dumping a ton of money into a club.

Do we really need 5 strikers if we are going to play with just 1?

We need another goal scorer 100%.
We nearly went down through lack of goals last season and we have less proven strikers at this level than when we ended last season with.
Hope I am wrong but with no Kelman for a while, Dykes gone (not everyone's cup of tea but certainly improved our chances of staying up), Godden superb but spent 50% of time with us injured we are keeping our fingers crossed that Leaburn improves hugely and maybe Mbick can step up. This is not good enough and we will struggle for goals again if this isn't addressed. Mark my words !
Mentioned it a lot, but what we needed to improve was midfielders who can find out attackers. Our strikers would have scored a lot more goals last season if they’d been sent decent deliveries in to the box. Improving our midfield adds the extra goals needed.
A sharp divide among Charlton fans on this topic. My exclusive poll came up with these results:

    1.  We have too many strikers         : 48%

    2.  We do not have enough strikers: 48%

    3.  NJ knows what he is doing and we have the right number of strikers: 3%

4:  Spoilt paper (Lord Binface is not a striker) 1%
